- Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 continues the story of the unknown protagonist who finds themselves trapped inside the Playtime Co toy factory and trying to survive against the hordes of deadly living mascots that now roam it's halls. Now Poppy Playtime, Kissy Missy and a young boy named Ollie must help them survive new terrors - Catnap, Miss Delight and the Smiling Critters who inhabit the Playcare. This is the story of Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 explained.

Is it just me or is the "hour of joy" the scariest part? Just imagine hiding for hours , crawling into vents while hearing the death of friends. The fact that most of the employees did not know anything and were seeing childhood mascots run at them. Employees and others saw heads teared off, bodies tossed, and chasing others. Plus whatever they did, they'll die no matter what. And the monsters did this because the higher ups treated them like sh!t.
yeah, i don't really know why but the way they presented it was as if it had really happened, no exaggeratedly climactic music, no "scary" effects, no sounds, no voices, just a videotape of a slaughter
@@lokky9188 It's because it's an immersion of our reality, at least in some aspects. This gives the feel of a riot in a prison cell, something that does actually happen. It's just that its creatures doing the slaughter and not other humans. This is how I feel about it.
For real life that do that.
It should be it’s own chapter or game
The depressing part was the hour of joy is the final nail of the coffin of thier downfall.
I mean yeah the employee need to die but thier plan is way to much of revenge that every innocent employee and the adopted parent were being slaughter.
the past 10 year before the mc came and i came to realise that everytoy who didn't participate the hour of joy are getting killed which make me mad at the prototype and the hunger itself really bring us to horror that every toys are eating the corpse which came to my mind how can they react that every good people they are dying for these senseless slaughter.
I see prototype a monster in my eye instead of looking the person who did them the horror that they face but only amplified the anger to seek revenge on the adults.
I think the fact that Catnap gives you a chance to leave even though he found you a second time is significant. Remember the first time he tried to kill you he did it in such a way that he wouldn't watch it, then only after he warns you and you persist on getting closer to his god does he actually become dangerous.
I think he recognizes you as one of the people that didn't hurt anyone. As someone that was about as innocent as an adult in this situation could get. Not as innocent as the child victims, or the other abused toys, but still not someone to just slaughter on sight.
Food for thought.
That and how he tried to keep Miss Delight away from the kids. Maybe he tried protecting them and the other innocents during the Hour of Joy incident (but failed in the end). The player's definitely being manipulated even if it's unclear by whom at this point.
Catnap pretty much wants us to stay out of his business and only tries to kill us once we don’t listen to him.
it could have also been a trick. He is known for playing with his prey.
Catnap's Death was very poetic, as Theodore he almost died to electrocution and was killed to turned anew and when he was Catnap he almost died to electrocution as well as born anew via the prototype.
He was either playing with us or it tells us that the Mc wasn't involved with the kids much personally or well the day to day operations. Mommy & co recognize us as being a worker but nothing other than that
13:27 Also I really love how they handled that kissy scene. When she attacks, she is cloaked in "Moonlight" making her appear blue like huggy. But once poppy stops her and she shines her flashlight on em, we can see that the figure is pink, making them Kissy.

14:58 This detail is just amazing. Kissy visibly reacts when Huggys death is mentioned. She flinches and glances at Poppy and also brings her knee up. This is probably hinting that Huggy and Kissy have a much deeper story together. I can’t explain how much i love subtle details like this. It shows so much of Kissys personality in just a couple of seconds. It’s absolutely awesome.
I have a feeling huggy and kissy were one of the experiment children Kevin and his other child friend that came to check up on him in one of the recordings
@@georgiawood3144I don’t think that’s the case. Kissy is a girl, Kevin and Joseph were both boys. I think we’ll learn about Huggy and Kissy in the next chapter. The way this chapter ended makes me believe that at least. I think they should explain all the known toys’ past tho.. They’re all so interesting~

I don’t think that animation is related to that voice line. When I played through Kissy Missy did that way before she mentioned Huggy.
DogDay probably had the worst fate, since he didn't mean harm, but the smaller critters used him as a vessel to attack the player

CatNap didn't have much screentime, but when he was onscreen, he was absolutely terrifying! That colorless form was pure nightmare fuel!
I feel like the idea of Catnap watching you behind your back when you're least expecting it is much more terrifying than mommy long legs watching you from a window
Some toys who is the center of attention does not need screen time mostly, some other toys within playcare should have their screen time to, if it wasn’t for Catnap taking much screen time, we wouldn’t have other toys screen time and experience how dark Chapter 3 really is.
He's based on a cat and we were even told he liked to stall his prey and awaken them before going for the kill. If they gave him too much screen time he wouldve been just another Mommy long legs. She wasnt scary and would not stop talking the whole time, it was annoying.
I didn't realize that was the "colorless creature" that was talked about in the VHS tapes until seeing this comment 😂😭.
they coulda done better like actually Having us try to survive against Catnap in the shadows and dark places that give a more survivor horror experience like advertised in the trailer other than that I loved this chapter
(CATNAP is my fav antagonist of the main 3 in every chapter now)

I find it funny that this worker is almost/around 40 (because of the time it takes for college, finding a job, working your way up the ranks, and actually working there for so long that every mascot you meet knows that you worked here) and is running around with a grab pack, crouching through tight spaces, falling at bone breaking heights, and has not had ONE back problem in this whole series.

I had the same thought which leads me to believe that Ollie is sus af and is either the Prototype or a hidden antagonist that’ll betray poppy and us.
It's interesting how, in the lore, Theo became catnap because he was badly damaged by electricity, and in the game, we defeated him by again electrifying him.

Every time I watch that moment, my first thought is Tiger Tiger. Maybe there's some connection or inspiration there - the cat toy being made that way because the boy inside was hurt by electricity (which is, you know, like lightning), which also defeats him while he is a cat.

Hearing Elliot Ludwig's speech about smiles in the cable car is so much more chilling now that I know the lore about the bigger bodies initiative. "There is nothing more gratifying to my soul than being the reason for a child's smile...these children deserve to smile...dedicated in every inch and detail to ensuring a child's smile...may playcare bring smiles to all who enter these doors, for what gives life its meaning, if not a smile?" Then I realized basically all the bigger body toys have permanent smiles on their faces.
Expect some of the toys like mommy, when she got angry the part where she slid down from up to us in chapter 2 where she called us cheater, her mouth changes for a second
I believe Elliott might have been oblivious up until a certain point, then disposed of when he didn’t want to do those cruel things to children, I doubt he started the business with many workers and probably was non-profit in the beginning.
One think i find sinister is the reason (or, lack of knowing it) WHY whey made the bigger bodies. It's DEFINITLY not just to help in the factory

a terrible detail with dogday is that a belt is tied around their waste right above where they were severed, meaning that no blood could escape so dogday could still barely cling to life. sickening.

I literally noticed the turnicate when I first saw him. If that wasn't horrifying enough the smaller smiling critters entering into his body with Bobby Bearhug literally going through his eye would definitely keep me awake.

Catnap locking up the teachers to keep them from the students is interesting.
He was still wanting to protect the children from harm. The fact Ms. Delight admitted she would kill the kids is telling of the Hour of Joy.
I wonder if he kept his promise to protect them or eventually he ended up killing and eating them. Or he just wanted to keep the "food" for himself.
@@maciumba He actually did protect them, if he killed them then his god (the prototype) wouldn't be too happy with that since the prototype himself wanted no more kids to die, hence why he did the hour of joy and coordinated everything, if Ms. Delight did try to kill the kids then catnap would intervene and most likely kill her

It seems like a lot of the toys don't actually get a long with each other or at the very least fear catnap and the prototype. The hour of joy probably felt like a great idea to them at first. But when all the employees died they were left without food or children to play with it was a wasteland and that probably caused them to rethink their alliances. We know Mommy assisted the prototype but at some point she also turned to fear him..
The way they did Catnap’s death was really good. It’s not really noticeable at first but I just realised that in Catnap’s death scene, he’s terrified and afraid because he was once again dying in the same way he was as a child. And the last time it happened he trusted the prototype with his life which saved him but in return made him be selected to become Catnap and go through some grim awful shit. Now once again the same thing had happened and for Catnap it was like a spitting image of that traumatic haunting event- essentially an major post traumatic flashback and once again the prototype wanted him to give his full trust to it. That’s harsh man.

I interpreted it differently, given the pose that Catnap makes it almost seems as though he's offering himself to the prototype and happy that he finally was able to become one with the god he worshipped.

Ok but can we talk about how GOOD the voice acting in this game is? Like holy crap the first 2 chapters had great voices, but this takes it to a NEXT LEVEL. Poppy and DogDay are the standouts for me, cause you feel their full on raw emotions. For DogDay, it’s pretty much his whole talk with you in the Playhouse, and for Poppy, it’s her frankly gut wrenching account of the Hour of Joy, and the absolute despair you can hear in her voice when she realizes Kissy’s in danger at the end, and how she reacts very realistically, at first thinking she’s just doing something weird, and then she hears the scream, and KNOWS something’s up. I like that more realistic approach rather than just saying she’s in danger just because of a small thump. The little details man, can’t get enough.
TL;DR: The voice acting in this game is absolutely incredible, and Poppy’s VA is the GOAT.

I actually cant put into words how adorable Kissy is. When she’s just sat there idly in the lift, her lil eyeesss!!!!!! There’s always something so unbelievable ADORABLE about huge, friendly beasts that have the capability of killing your but are just mellow and kind. UGH SHES SO CUTE
what is wrong with you she's terrifying, especially because she also killed people in the hour of joy and is probably just pretending to be passively friendly.
@@notmo.she was an orphan who was taken to a place she was supposed to cared for, and was instead experimented on by the people she was supposed to trust. That kind of treatment begets terrible anger. I’m not saying what she did was right, but I am saying, I get it. To be treated to horrendously, for so long, and then being presented with an opening for vengeance? It must have felt so good to lash out. In the moment at least.

@@notmo. I mean her outward appearance really. The way she presents herself makes even her uncanny smile cute. Again, she reminds me of huge friendly beasts (totoro, friendly dragons etc.) that are super gentle. Like a big gentle St Bernard. Clearly she’s being shy and hesitant, unhappy with what’s happening in her world and wanting change. I love it.

@LordBakon it's not mentioned directly in game only the books the games lost their teeth a long time ago you get some implied but no direct things that legitimately put a pit in your stomach like these
@@LordBakon I love FNAF as much as the next person, but FNAF's lore has always been a bit... subtle. It makes the fans figure out all the details, and even when we do, it's not always quite right. The best in game canon mention of all the tragedies was Henry's final speech in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator. This game really spells it out for us. While the first two chapters of the game were a bit more on the subtle side where you had to read some stuff to get somewhat of an understanding of what's going on, this chapter (and I'm sure the next that comes along) solidifies what we've all been speculating and theorizing. We don't have to guess intentions, possible references or hints. It tells us orphaned kids are experimented on and forced into being toys for the rest of their lives and are suffering.
To be fair, this is mascot horror. They're entertainers/toys, they gotta be colourful and 'joyful', since they're made for kids.
The female woman who talked about Maria needs more recognition, she really put her all into the role of a woman who cares deeply for her daughter and scared out of her mind when that incident happened

I find it interesting that Ollie considers Catnap as the last of the Smiling Critters, while DogDay considers himself the last. I believe this is in regards to the CatNap recall, and his removal from the group.
Ollie may have been present when CatNap was introduced, but not notified of the recall. He may also believe all the Smiling Critters are dead because they were all taken to that hidden prison, with who-knows-what happening to them. It was best to assume they were dead.
On the other hand, DogDay would have that information, being a part of the Smiling Critters.
One thinks CatNap is the last, while DogDay *knows* he is the last.
His final dog days--

It’s not because of the recall tbh. It’s because DogDay doesn’t see CatNap as a person anymore. This is illustrated in him calling him a “thing” in his dialogue. After seeing CatNap slaughter so many people and possibly toys, and then having CatNap tear off his legs and leaving him to suffer, DogDay no longer sees a Smiling Critter whom he can recognize or respect-he sees a monstrous entity with no empathy. To him, all of the Smiling Critters have died, and only DogDay is left.
Ollie doesn’t seem to have direct experiences with CatNap. When he discusses CatNap’s views with the Player, he says things like “I’ve heard” and “Everyone says”. Therefore, when Ollie calls CatNap a “Smiling Critter”, he’s doing so because CatNap is, by definition, a Smiling Critter. There’s not much emotion there on the subject.
Unless DogDay somehow miraculously survived, it seems almost pointless to talk about now. After all, now there’s NO Smiling Critters.
All of them have officially been wiped out, leaving behind only those parasite plushies in the Playhouse (wow, alliteration). So far, they’re probably among the most tragic characters in the lore so far.
The Hour of Joy is one of the most horrifying and tragic events in any video game ever. Seriously so disturbing.
Nah, I think the moment when the robots in atomic heart attack and kill everyone was much more disturbing, especially “Nora”

I just feel sorry for him. He put so much faith in the one person who had ever shown him true kindness only to be betrayed in the end. Though it is weird. Why would Prototype save him just to kill him?
@@jerryapice1762 It seems like the Prototype was bringing Catnap to a sort of toy heaven, and Catnap went willingly so it wasn't betrayal.
Hearing Kissy's screams at the end made me feel like part of me had been killed in that moment. She was so sweet, and just wanted us to succeed. We'll most likely find out what happened to her in Chapter 4, which will probably come out in 2026 or somwhere around there.

@@user-co7st1tb5eit really is ridiculous. I love this game but is this going to be the norm now? Is it going to spread? Now games all come out in chunks you wait years for? Mob has made BANK on the merch sales, they have battle passes with the multiplayer, and they should at least be discussing a movie deal. They can hire more people surely.
I think the biggest mystery is Ollie. It sounds like a child, but no child could survive this long down there. It's also been so many years since the daycare was open. Maybe someone trapped in a toy? But that doesn't make sense. All the others took over the toys names. No matter who they were before.
My theory, is that it's actually the prototype.
It has the ability to learn very quickly, and has multiple voices, a child voice would be easy then. Especially after the years after it happening. But why would they use a childs voice, and why help the protagonist?
Also very easily explainable:
- a child is seen as innocent, something that wouldn't cause harm, or want this. An Adult has a better ability of pretending to be nice. Like how in the VHS Tapes, how they experimented on kids but always had a nice face for the public.
- Everyone in the factory knows the potential of the protagonist. The Prototype uses the corspes of the toys that have humans trapped in them. He needed the protagonist to weaken Catnap. And take Kissy at the end. They use the protagonist to their own needs and wishes.
The Prototype is very smart, as we learned from every tape of it. It would absolutely be able to come up with that plan. And indeed, having Poppy trusting them is a very useful tool as well. They would play nice, to get what they want in return. Because Poppy and Kissy don't need to eat, they cannot offer food for their 'friendship', and they're too smart to just attack, so, it seperates them.
Follow this up, I think that 'Ollie' will seperate Poppy and the Protagonist once more, take over Poppy, and use her voice to lure the player along to their possible demise.
True but the prototype can't stay in 1 voice the prototypes voice is an amalgamation of different voices it's difficult for the prototype to even say a single sentence. Meanwhile Ollie sounds completely normal so he's probably some sort of toy maybe like Poppy.

It makes a lot of sense especially since poppy says he always seems to be aware of what's going on, it would explain how he knows everything, its because he is helping make the plans himself. He is a genius but he's not a mind reader yet he always is at the right place at the right time? Seems sus everytime he plans to kill one of the toys he's literally right around the corner, it almost makes too much sense.
And you have to realize most of it not all the toys like poppy and stuff are children they can easily be manipulated so it makes sense they'd assume it's just another toy like them.
In the tape before the final battle the prototype's voice modulates back and forth until finally converging on a voice eerily similar to the researcher. This combined with repeating the researcher's own phrase back makes it seem more likely that the voice wasn't a lack of control, but rather the learning process of the prototype. This fits with the theme of the prototype taking in other toys and integrating them into itself. It would explain the cruelness of the prototype as well, it simply copied the the horrific experiments perpetrated on both it and the children.
Would not be surprised to see the prototype rehash old toys and puzzles in the final chapter, subverting expectations previously ingrained in the player. The prototype seems omnipresent in the facility, with hands coming out of nowhere. Given its shown to be the trigger to the hour of joy, it doesn't seem farfetched for it to have been pitting other toys against the player so that it can observe and learn.
I kinda had a thought the actual phone was Ollie. Only cause it has a face on it and it looks like a toy. But then it wouldnt make sense how he knows where things are and howre theyre accessed
Catnap is oddly lenient in comparison to huggy and mommy, you could interpret it as an predator stalking its prey but that doesn't fit, Catnap takes defending playcare seriously and in the end he's just a kid, not some sadistic murderer and the moment he attacks us he does so only to warn us.
Although catnap made it very clear to turn back. Huggy will also stalk you until you’re about to free poppy and mommy Will give you the code to leave but gets aggressive when you start venturing off. Catnap is the same except he makes it very clear if you don’t leave playcare he’ll kill you
Ollie is so not what he seems.
Even if he is WHO he says he is, a friend, he is not WHAT he is assumed to be, a boy/child.

Thank you! That's what I said. Most adults WITH security clearance were killed. Even if he's a kid that survived, he'd be a teen by now, sounding older. And in that case, how would he survive a decade without food or water? Judging by how Poppy sounds, I'm thinking Ollie is at best a toy or AI.
And if every other toy feeds on others to survive, Kissy and Poppy and potentially Ollie had to as well to survive the decade.
@@BeBlessedGames Poppy was in a slumber im pretty sure, she doesn't need all of the other things the other toys needs, she was the first succesful expierement making her different from every other toy in general, The doctors couldn't perfect the other toys how they did poppy, that's how she can speak so clearly and wasn't going around helping the other toys kill, she also said she hated the screams of others and that they were agonizing to her, even so she's just a doll with a soul i think , not a toy with organs and bones.

The tiny smiling critters climbing into DogDay’s open body and using him as a skinsuit was such genuinely disturbing body horror, i’m impressed with how much darker chapter 3 has been in comparison to the previous two
This incident has happened so many times before I have thankfully caught all the critters, but this was the one time they successfully took over his body. I wanted to punish him and not kill him. The only reason I’ve try to take care of the player is because he killed some of the other toys

12:29 this scene is heartbreaking. Imagine waking up, your friend not there, and you ask an adult, as they lie right to your face… and your friend never ever returns back to you.
What I don't get is how did these kids not know that other kids weren't showing up? There's no way they weren't talking to each other and saying "Hey have you seen so and so I haven't seen them at all today?" There's no way these kids weren't talking to each other about other kids going missing.

@@burningflamesofdivinedragonthey were probably telling the kids that their peers were being adopted and that’s why they didn’t come back. But I’m sure the kids still had their suspicions and talked amongst each other since they would never receive goodbyes from their peers. Regardless, they’re children. They know they’re at the mercy of the adult employees so rather than push any questions further, they probably just wanted to believe that the employees were really taking care of them instead of living with constant anxiety at the possibility that something nefarious was going on. He hesitated grabbing the prototype's hand because he noticed it was was no longer as open as it had been and had been tightened to stab CatNap.

For me I think that he knew what was happening and sacrificed himself cause he knows he’s injured and realizes he can also be part of the prototype himself, remember, cat nap considers the prototype as a god

I believe Poppy Playtime has redeemed itself. It seems like multiple horror games are getting darker and darker. And I’m here for it!

In the Stella Greyber tape, not only was the couple surprised to find out about the testing, but it sounds like Stella was too. The couple asks how she could not know when she's in charge, and Stella sounds confused when reading the "testing" note on the form. It wasn't just the factory workers who didn't know about the experiments, it was even kept from the head of Playcare herself. Everything we've heard about Stella makes it clear she wouldn't approve of experimenting on orphans, so her being kept in the dark would make sense. Maybe she was promoted to head of Playcare and not told about the experiments to set her up, similar to how Elliot Ludwig might've been set up to take the fall for everything?

Another interesting thing is, with the cutouts, the ones with screams at the end are most likely dead. Like Kickin Chicken. But the thing is, Bobby Bearhug, Picky Piggy, and Crafty Corn do not have screams. With Crafty Corn, she must have stayed alive for a bit longer, as she was most likely the one to write in the vents when we are being chased by huggy, but, was eaten by Picky Piggy, who most likely ate Kickin Chicken, Bubba, and as stated before, Crafty Corn. As she says in her cutout: “Seared Elephant, Grilled Chicken, and Flayed Unicorn.” She must have ate those 3. As for Bobby Bearhug, she is still alive, as there is not a scream at the end. She also remembers us, and asks us to take her with us the next time, also saying that shes “lost.” This indicates that she knows who we are, and she might have given us the idea to leave the factory before the “Hour of Joy.” Also, she is most likely hiding out somewhere, if she is still alive (hopefully.) Picky Piggy is most likely alive too, as there is no scream, and she said she was still hungry, and asked us to be friends. The next chapter is rumored to be in a fairground type setting, as for one of the posters showed. (Not confirmed.)

What i think happened is that the others were hidden/moved by catnap, because the va of dogday is the same va of the guy behind the bigger bodies initiative, and therefore theres a reason to torture and kill him (despite how gruesome it is)
I'm not getting over how Poppy Playtime started as the face of Mascot Horror's decline only for Chapter 3 to turn the whole game around. Dogday and Miss Delight are just horrific and I love it.

I originally thought this game was just another cringey mascot horror game, but then I saw the VHS tapes, the ARG, and all the other content that led up to this chapter. This game is truly unique, and the developers aren’t afraid to make it as terrifying as possible.

I'm pretty sure Catnap knew he was going to die because he fail, which is probably why he backed away at first but eventually accept the fact he was going to die either way and allow the prototype to kill him (and with a theory that Catnap and the prototype were pretty close when they were both still humans, there is a chance the prototype gave him a mercy kill to put him out of his misery) .
26:40 - I think Stella knew what was going on, but she didn't have as much control as her title made it sound and/or she didn't have the power to argue against a child being taken for testing. That would explain why she was both caught off guard to find that Jeremy was no longer available for adoption and why she sounded so grave when all she could say is "I'm sorry" to the potential parents. She knows what "testing" means, she knows she has no ability to override the scientists' decisions and she knows that it can all happen without prior warning, and there's nothing she can do about it.
i wonder why CatNap said "leave playcare or i'm coming for you." it insinuates that CatNap didn't intend to kill the protagonist unless they directly opposed the prototype, and actually offered them a way out if they just left then.
Dogday’s death gave me chills… as he mentioned the smaller toys are fed, meaning they must’ve fed on his innards too and the others for him to know this. So as they crawl inside of him, they are eating what’s left until it is a hollow shell for them to control

I think the protagonist is Richard. If the hero was part of the top employees, the head of some department, there would be no reason for Ollie to explain all the details nor provide all the set of keys. Polly would not be so nice to them if they were one of the scientists. She wouldn't say, "They didn't do anything wrong" and we wouldn't need "explaining". Also, a scientist should know of the red smoke and its functions. It would make more sense if the protagonist was an employee of a lower rank, a cleaner or a supplier. They did help with experiments in a way, but they did not outright harm the kids. But the monsters are still angry and the blame still falls upon the protagonist. We keep getting clips of Richard. I don't remember ever hearing a tape of him dying, so it may be that he is still alive. And, he is the protagonist. By a stroke of luck, he was absent on the day the Hour of Joy commenced. When he goes back to work, he finds it has been shut down. He tries to contact his colleagues and friends from work, but he can't reach them. Now, years later, he is invited back. He is seeing what he had unknowingly helped create. In a way, he feels responsible, and he must now help right what was wrong.
I think so to because if you think about it in the old chapter it seem like mommy long legs also remember our protagonist but still holds a grudge correct me if im wrong
For now until it’s confirmed otherwise to be untrue and we’re actually playing as somebody else instead, I’m convinced that we are playing as Richard. Aside from your logic, it would also make sense for someone who doesn’t have a huge role in the company to miss a couple days where they wouldn’t be needed as much as the other more crucial employees.
Like I’m imagining interns who come to get some experience in the toy industry by working with a powerhouse company such as Playtime Co. (because they were a hugely popular toy company with lots of successful toy products) Or the cashiers who manned the registers at both the toy shop on the surface by the entrance we enter through as well as the the toy shop in Playplace.
Or the people who took care of the kids throughout the day, who were otherwise unaware of the horrible experiments being conducted on them. Or the tour guides who welcomed groups of visitors and took them on tours around the factory not knowing of its dark secrets.
I’m also imagining that it’s hard to get your normal janitors to clean up the blood and guts from the children who were experimented upon and maybe even killed by the scientists. You probably either need outside specialists who somehow won’t question what happened to the kids, or you need your own staff to clean up their messes to avoid risking suspicion and investigation by people/the public outside of the scientific research department.
The more we hear about Richard the more I believe this. I always found it odd that they included him in the VHS tapes, especially cause they always seem so disconnected from the narrative.

The only thing is when the protagonist was tripping from the gas the TV scene indicates they came back due to their guilty conscience. From this chapter it's shown that there's a possibility that even head of departments like Stella are not all aware of what's happening to the children, so I don't think Richard would know enough to have a guilty conscience.
Of course, we heard he may be getting a better position from this chapter, and we also know he's mellowing out because of his family and possibly because his experience of being demoted, so maybe he will be promoted to a position where he's aware of the situation and didn't do the right thing? It's strange if his friend knows what horror is in playcare yet still gives Richard the position seeing he's a good person though.
I think I might have a very disturbing and dark theory about this chapter regarding the smaller versions of the smiling critters:
remember how we saw cribs in that one room? One would assume Playtime co. is experimenting on babies right? And you say that might be too dark? Well if that assumption is true..........remember how the smaller smiling critters crawl at you to attack you? Well babies crawl too, right? ......my theory is what if Playtime co. did experiment on babies and their poor innocent souls are trapped in those smaller smiling critters left to rot in the playhouse?

"The hour of joy" is a pretty horrific scenario and the more you think about it the more disturbing it gets. I can't imagine the sheer amount of trauma that the children inside experienced when it occurred.
They were safely kept away, most likely guarded by catnap, the prototype, and a few other toys. NOT all the toys knew of the location of the children since some of them would kill them, so only a few trusted ones knew where they were.
At least they have a heart and won't harm kids well some of them

I worked at a toy shop that sold Poppy Platytime toys and by far the most disturbing aspect of this franchise are the 4-7 year olds who are big time into this and somehow the parents know absolutely nothing about what exactly this franchise is

This chapter made me want to cry at parts. I know it’s fictional but it was heartbreaking to hear kissys screams, seeing dogday nearly eaten alive and then the critters crawl into his wounds and just see and hear his pain.
This is a very well made chapter. Heartbreaking at times but very very well made. I now see why it took the game makers so long to release it
Personally my favorite scene of this chapter is when huggy comes out of the TV, when watching the VHS tapes normally the game doesn't throw anything at you as you're safe, so they way it flips that really catches you off guard.
I'll admit. Even Huggy's introduction didn't frighten me like that did. That's straight up nightmare fuel.

The Gas emitter unit Catnap uses has two separate parts, one is the red gas, the other is perhaps a unit to further add pressure to the Gas release, increasing the range and speed it can fill a room. It is however only uaed for the initial burst of gas, and said additive IS THE FLAMABLE element.
Without proper air ventilation, rooms become lethal gas chambers of red gas, but not the flamable additive

Now I honestly think that the CatNap dolls being shipped and having the Red Smoke installed in them wasn’t an accident, but was instead INTENTIONAL. My reason for this is because maybe Playtime Co were tired of trying to find orphans and instead use other children that had families and use them as test subjects. And considering that it is currently unknown if Elliot Ludwig really did something with that kid’s body in his house or it was planted there to frame him after his death, it’s very possible that Playtime Co would use children that have families as part of their test subjects.
I think the only reason why the catnap dolls had the red smoke was to nit frighten some of the orphans, I mean the alive Catnap is terrifying so having these smaller catnap dolls that gave the red smoke out would be perfect for the company
Nobody mentions this but I find it quite cool to notice that when poppy is talking to the player with kissy. Kissy is displaying some self soothing responses. Cool little detail to show that she is stressed

Also, Huggy is not actually dies, as in Chapter 2, you can see his furs are crawling around on the sewer's wall. Either he escaped from the bottom pit or the prototype brought his body to the top like he did to Mommy and Catnap.
I have a feeling Huggy will be back as part of Prototype's body or maybe on his more damage part of his body.

I personally believe that Ollie is actually just the prototype or something else pretending to help the protagonist but actually just trying to help himself escape (like with Theodore)

I am SO glad that they made this game actually scary, in terms of story and just gameplay itself.
Chapter 3 had such a different vibe compared to the others, mainly because it really delves deep into the horrors that were going on, I mean ofc the lore is brought up a little in the earlier chapters but this one ESPECIALLY really hits you with it all.
I like to imagine that catnap actually protected the children during the hour of joy, maybe leading them to a room so that they could be safe during all the chaos. But without a food source, they must've starved there and slowly began to die, this must've hurt catnap alot. So he must've used the red smoke to put them all to sleep, to end their suffering and maybe it wasn't nightmarish creatures they saw when they were put to sleep, but one last wholesome moment with the one who protected them for so long, catnap.
That’s just depressing…
He did protect them as shown in one of the tapes with the encounter with Ms delight, and most likely put them in a safe room. However I believe that the intro episode of the smiling critters is the children in that room scared of the chaos going outside and happy to see catnap which he then put them all the sleep with the red smoke

I also thought he might have protected them, but then i remembered the news broadcast at the beginning of the game that ends with "one thing is certain: your children are not safe with catnap" and now I wonder if there's more truth to that line than I realized. Chapter 3 was for sure one of the best games i've played or watched.. DogDay's death, CatNap disfigured body, The red smoke arc, getting closer to Experiment 1006 (Prototype),The red smoke lore, heck the whole lore! Its just so scary... Much scarier than 1 & 2.
Ollie has to be the prototype. If the "Hour of Joy" took place 10 years before the current events in the story, how could Ollie be the sole survivor and still sound like a 10 year old. In theory Ollie would have to be at least 15. It's also very unlikely that a child would be able to survive something as horrific as the "Hour of Joy" but not an adult. It seems like the prototype is using the voice of a child, that's dead, to lure and trap the player, Kissy Missy, and Poppy.

I will give props to Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 for blatantly explaining certain events that unfolded without exactly giving us the reason Instead of having us keep guessing what happened. Finally a horror game that treats us with intelligence.
Honestly a rarity. Like other ganes are often vague about timings or certain details without directly admitting to it. The game made it very clear what has happened but not the why which will get explored later. Enough details to feel satisfied but enough left out so one can want more.
While it technically was confirmed in chapter 2, their was some modicum of doubt on the player being a worker or not but the fact that many characters, and even the player hallucinations and nightmares, confirming the player was indeed a worker helped to shed light into them.
The hour of joy also being seen showing that this wasn't just a break out but a mass slaughter of everyone I'd such a surprise since other mascot horror ganes never try to show something so overt. In fact, alot if the gane was very overtly dark and creepy. The hone sweet home nightmare was genuinely such a good sequence. Dogday being eaten inside out is gruesome.
Like this chapter did not shy away from anything besides identities of the poppy kissy, ollie, the prototype and the player (who I buy into being rich given how he seems to fit the Most)
Or just simply make things clear instead of make us spend days make tons of different theories and guesses.

I was genuinely surprised that this chapter is really dark and now we have a. Clear idea of what was going on. Favorite part was that we finally saw the hour of joy and the shot of all the dead employees was crazy. Only thing is if still many kids are playing this game or they moved on since chapter 3 did take a while
It wasn't just the employees though. That's the tragedy here. IT's like Poppy said: The guilty, the innocent... it didn't matter.
I personally think that Stella knew about the experiments and all but was just unaware that Jeremy was taken for testing. Think about it, in chapter 2 all the performance reviews were supposed to go to Stella, meaning at the very least she knew that the games were actually tests for the kids. Stella couldn't have gotten to her current position without knowing about the Bigger Bodies Initiative, and even if she didn't know a lot about it she definitely knew all the giant toys were organic living beings, and may have been able to put together that children with assigned toys were going to be turned into toys depending on how they scored in the games. In the vhs tape where Stella is talking with the couple planning to adopt Jeremy, she sounded very positive that Jeremy would be getting adopted, and sounded genuinely surprised when she saw he was taken for "testing." This might have meant that she assumed Jeremy wouldn't be taken for the Bigger Bodies Initiative because he scored average or below average on the games meaning that the chances of him being chosen were slim to none. I view it as very unlikely that she knew literally nothing about it, as it's implied that all the people with slides at the start of chapter 2 played some role in the Bigger Bodies Initiative or at the very least knew what it was meant for. If I had to take a guess as to when she learned about it, I would say she learned about it when she started working in the Game Station because obviously she would have met/seen Mommy Long Legs, and was probably fully introduced to the initiative when she became the head of Playcare, learning how the Bigger Bodies were made and were child experiments, as well as learning the Bigger Bodies individual roles (Huggy with security, Mommy with running the game station, Boxy with removing lower employees who knew too much, ect.) This could also help explain Stella's uncertainty with having CatNap help run Playcare, other than the obvious reasons of it being a massive cat toy that releases a gas that causes children to fall asleep and hallucinate. She has probably seen how violent the other experiments are and worried that CatNap would lash out towards the kids, or at least cause kids to become emotionally distressed.
Either way it's just my theory, but I can see most of it being pretty lore accurate.
I feel like it’s plausible that she didn’t know. Because so many employees didn’t. I don’t think they could have so many employees stay working there if they didn’t keep quiet about the human experimentation. I mean, imagine being told that the toys you work around are orphan children. You’d probably quit on the spot but they need you to stay quiet so the easiest way to avoid that kind of a scenario is to not let anyone know. I think if she knew, she wouldn’t have even read the reason he wasn’t able to be adopted. Because what does testing imply other than running medical tests on someone? With how we were introduced to her character in the first chapter, I can see how she COULD be seen as someone who would be okay with such things but that tape conversation sounded to me like even she was unsure of what testing even meant. I could totally be wrong but I think Stella is going to slowly realize that Playtime Co. is a sinister place.
Edit: I know there are other ways testing can be used, like paper exams and stuff but why would a kid in school testing be unable to be adopted so that’s why I didn’t include it before. Just added this so people understood my thought process
so the reason Poppy diverted the train, is because she knew the Prototype would kill the player on the spot the second they tried to get out of the factory, so in a sense, she saved them.
I think that poppy didn't expect the player to live against mommy and huggy and considered the player as a recruit, poppy's very useful helper to finally end everything

I don't think so. At one point, Miss Delight and Catnat give the player the chance to go home, telling the player to go away, but bc the player didn't, that's when they try killing them.

I think Poppy and co. are loyal to the company above all else, and they're taking advantage of the protagonist to get rid of those like Miss Delight and Catnap who want to destroy it all.

Harley Sawyer AKA The Doctor, someone who had a brilliant idea to start a project, The Bigger Bodies Initiative. This idea was cruel but he didn’t care. Quote, “ We can increase our workforce and decrease our lawsuits If the people we have working, ”…Thousands of experiments upon thousands! Elliot Ludwig now having his daughter preserved in a glass case so he would never lose he again…With love and care Ludwig announced…PLAY-CARE! His very own on-site orphanage! The Doctor saw this as a chance to fulfill his project…The Bigger Bodies Initiative.
The Prototype, now Elliot commanded one of the children, Theodore. He told him an unknown order to my understanding. On August 8th, 1995. A massacre, . One by one the guilty and innocent were slaughtered. Keith Pierre agreed with the Doctor and sent people to extract toy parts and make more. Now you come in. 10 years later. The year 2005 you come and return to these familiar halls. You worked here after all! You walked in to save the employees.
I just wanna note, that Ollie never actually claimed to be a child, and considering 10 years have passed since the hour of joy, he'd be quite plder than what he sounds like. So either it's the prototype fooling literally everyone, or more likely Ollie is a Toy who was made shortly before the hour of joy. That would also explain how he was somewhat unsure of how many smiling critters there initially were.
The smaller critters are for sure infants. The cribs point to babies and toddlers and the way the critters crawl and sorta have a baby babble, it all just seems like they're babies
I wanted to punish dog day, so I tied him up to the wall I usually feed the critters, but since I was chasing the player, I wasn’t able to do it, and they found his body

I really enjoy the little detail that the players nightmares and hallucinations are about Huggy Wuggy. Maybe the fight with Huggy left the most impact on them, or they were involved with the Huggy experiments and it's left them riddled with guilt. It's interesting that it's Huggy when Mommy Long Legs and now Catnap were also a huge threat.
I still think it would be interesting if as a worker our player was turning into a Huggy Wuggy and they survived because the Prototype. The reason I say this is because we know the toys breathe, fall damage doesn’t hurt the player, the fact it’s almost like we don’t have bones and the prototype seems to have some sort of connection as they can wake you up and tell you to get up. I know that’s most likely not what it is but knowing some adults were put into the teachers and even other toys give me those ideas. Idk the idea the prototype had no control but then it started calling them back suddenly. Sadly I know I’m wrong but it would have been cool knowing we became what we created

I like to believe that it's a testament to the fact that Huggy Wuggy chase scene is still the scariest in the entire series and even the player got desensitised to other horrors of this facility after being chased by him😅

No, I think they are in the deepest depth of playtime. I feel like they've been hinting that since we saw "the stairway to hell" which means the final chapter will be that much more terrifying.
I love what theyve done with the game. Having a darker storyline is definitely beneficial by a game like this
The voice actor for Clair Harper was amazing, had me tearing up imagining what the kids were put through in this game.
the fact this all happened behind the poppy flower door (mostly talking about the hour of joy) seen in chapter one is just terrifying and sad. Every person died there, even the innocent. If you realize why that flower is there and what it means, it really hits hard.

Well, the hour of joy didn't all happen behind the poppy, as we can see huggy (at the entrance of the establishment) kill a couple of people. But you do make a good point here.

Some things I’m thinking about/noticed:
Ollie is most definitely another toy not a child (though most likely has a child spirit like the rest of them). He includes himself when he says that Catnap even kills the toys if they go against the Prototype. “Even us if we’re not careful” (or something along those lines).
The Prototype is definitely an amalgamation of different parts though I don’t think that’s all that the different voices were doing. I think it was also showing that the Prototype doesn’t have a voice box/voice of their own so they have to record other people’s voices in order to put sentences together. This is seen when the Scientist’s voice is played back when the Prototype also says that he learns from him just as much as the Scientist learns from the Prototype. Additionally, this just shows how truly smart the Prototype is; he’s always learning from and observing others.
I wonder if saving Theo was truly out of kindness or if it was apart of his plan from the beginning. If the Prototype always wanted revenge for how he was treated then escaping wouldn’t have helped him accomplish that; staying and accruing an army/following would. Like Poppy says, the Prototype always seems to be aware of everything. I’m sure he knew that Catnap would fall in the end.
I wonder if the picture Kissy is holding is truly who she once was or if it’s a child who she was close to before and after turning into Kissy since the drawing on the wall says that the two, Kissy and a child, were best friends.
Lastly, I’m still in shock over Dogday; by far, the most gruesome death in Poppy Playtime to date. I couldn’t help but notice that before the critters took over his body, his eye sockets were completely dark and then afterwards, they resembled Catnap’s with the little ring of light in the eye sockets. I wonder why this is and what that says about Catnap.
There’s so much to talk about with this chapter and I’m already so hype for chapter 4 though that’s probably going to take another year or two (or longer 😭😭).
maybe it's just my impression, but when he says "good luck", every time he says it it seems to have the exact same cadence and tone as the others, maybe this could make it clear that it is the prototype that is speaking using already recorded vocal lines?

This type of voice recordings reminds me of Lapis from Steven Universe when she was still in the mirror.
Crack theory: Ollie or Doggy is Keven and the kid asking about him in the audio was either Kissy Missy or Theo.
My theory is that Ollie is literally the phone. They transferred his brain into the phone itself so you're just, like, carrying his body about the place. And because he is physically wired in to the facility he knows a lot about it and can find stuff for you.
That’s interesting. Sort of like how some of the machines are alive though they don’t have voices. Maybe it has to do with the medium? Though if he is the phone, can he really get killed/be blamed for not worshipping the Prototype like Catnap wanted? He wouldn’t really be able to do anything besides speak when being used.

A neat little detail I noticed is that, the electricity that the player passed into CatNap, causes the red smoke to be set ablaze, which is how CatNap is set on fire
It was hinted at in the last two chapters, but the amount of times Chapter 3 blatantly addressed the lack of food honestly started to remind me of another game- or rather, an AU of another game.
The lack of food, being trapped in the factory (which has a lot of underground facilities), having very few allies- at least one of whom you’re not 100% certain you can trust, I haven’t caught up on it in awhile but this game really resembles what I remember of the HorrorTale AU.
If you listen closely to The Prototype wrapping up his convo with Harley Sawyer, you could tell he's mimicking his voice.
So, I'm starting to think Ollie may very well be the Prototype. I mean, ask yourself this question: "How the hell is a kid still alive after all these years?"
Just because it's a kids voice, doesn't mean it's an actual kid. I believe Ollie is literally just a phone toy like the picture you see in the top corner every time you're on the phone with him.

I hope the game does eventually provide answers instead of just spooky implications. Like how they grew flesh and teeth beyond the limits of the donors. Why some animals have adult voices despite apparently coming from children (although Catnaps broken voice suggests all voices can be artificial- perhaps Ollie is actually an adult) why their teeth are always sharp - and not visible until attacking. What they ate before the Hour of Joy. (And the need to eat seems to imply that both Poppy and Kissy ate those bodies and possibly other animals/children too. Where are the remaining kids, Poppy? (Maybe they escaped and grew up to be the protagonist).
Why were the teachers excluded from eating the dead bodies? Were they seen as complicit? Even though they were experiments too?
Maybe a series of webcomics or something…
I still think it’s not a coincidence that picky piggy has an Apple symbol and has a cutout that refers to cannibalism, and miss delights has an Apple on her chest and is cannibalistic.

@@Primrosepurple if you notice in this chapter all the antagonists have cutouts with buttons, the protagonist’s don’t. Mommy and Daddy long legs have button cut outs, but Ollie doesn’t have one. Just like kissy missy and poppy in this chapter.

She goes insane from this and few other things you mentioned. She doesn't move in the dark and when you're looking at her because that's how she survived her sisters. She found out if she stood still long enough they thought she was dead.

The prototype befriends him In order to help him escape the orphanage or Theo would be a victim of the scientists cruel experiment. But Theo used the grab pack with the electric hand and accidentally electrocuted himself and his life hung by a thread. The prototype then brought him back to the orphanage where the scientists continued their Bigger Bodies Experiment. And they chose Theo to be Catnap most likely because he was dying due to the result of being electrocuted . It's actually in the video at the 19:28 mark :)

I honestly truly feel bad for Catnap at the end. All he wanted was to hope on being free like the other toys by listening to the Prototype but ended up being killed for the Prototype to continue making its body. The part where the Prototype stabbed Catnap was truly brutal.

I think Catnap thought differently in his final moments. Prototype saved Catnap as a kid after he got injured from electric hand. When Catnap got hurt again because of it, he hoped he would be saved again by his deity with a bow towards a gentle hand... only to realize too late the hand was not so gentle this time.
For being a Smiling Critter with the big, forced smile, he had not enough time to use it to scream as the Prototype revealed its true intention...
