The things that women go through for what they think is love is nerve wrecking. It's a movie but this happens in reality. Just sad. Women need to learn to love themselves and stop chasing lust and their useless imagination of love.

For insulting or disobeying the royal family (traitorous actions) the whole family could be sentenced to death - often unpleasantly. They were the judges, juries and executioners. 5. Survival was for the most cunning, manipulative, wealthy, obsequious and those with powerful allies.
She is actually quite noble in the Confucianist sense of duty above self. The genre is historic tragedy not romance although by handing the throne over and in dying by her side he reprieve honour and paves the way for them to be reborn together in a life where he can make amends to her.

Being able to walk away from a marriage is fairly modern even in Europe. Being able to see those red flags requires experience and some you just can't see. Somethings are deliberately hidden and misrepresented and people ard betrayed by those they trust. Sometimes truth in life is only visible in hindsight no matter when you live or what culture you grow up in. Often in traditional chinese stories all that is left is hope of reincarnation where things can be made right. Some of the more modern ones have developed a westernised twist of happy ever after ending. Traditional western romances = boy meets girl, they fall in love, something gets in the way , and they either get back together again or don't. If they get back together it's romance. If they don't then it's tragedy. Reincarnation in a future life is a big thing within East Asian culture but not as much in recent times. This films ending is a nod to that belief. Also you're meant to see the anguish and futility and wrongness and injustice and lack of personal power that the FL has. The real power is hidden and works through manipulation and lies and the audience is expected to be outraged by it. Considering the provocation when he married her if she had backed out then her family would have been killed sooner. By the end of the story the key is he wants to be reborn with her to make amends for all the wrongs he has done to her in this life because within the circumstances of this life he needed to take control of the country or die. He was a puppet hence he acted with a sense of personal honour in giving the throne to someone more deserving and killing himself to try to ease his conscience and prove his love so if there is a next life he can make amends. However she doesn't want to ever see him again in any lifetime and will never forgive the doppelganger of the man she really loved. Having said all that though I agree it would be great to see less violence against women by both men and competitive women and better, more witty writing.

But today, with all the problems we have around the world, that's not the most important thing for me. You know, I have a dream... that we create a space of freedom in which it is no longer necessary to compare - e.g. between cultures, between men and women. This already exists in small ways. If someone is strong and can do something and is capable - that's great! They can achieve something with others, not just for himselve. Even if someone can't do much, it's still the best they have to give... I think it should be like a big orchestra where every player is appreciated. And my heart beats especially for the children.
드라마 보면서 스트레스 받네~~ 저런 인간한테 애정을 느낀다는 건 말 그대로 병적입니다~ 가정폭력 피해자들 가운데도 상대가 달라질거라는 헛된 기대를 가지고 평생을 사는 사람도 있습니다~~ 자신으로 인해 자신의 가족이 다 죽었는데도 그 원수를 사랑해서 포기하지않는다~ 사랑이 아니라 집착입니다~ 그래도 여주는 삶에 대한 애착은 강한 캐릭터네요~
