- In today's video, while visiting Fernandina Beach, we wanted to show you a walking tour of what downtown Fernandina Beach Historic District is like. Fernandina Beach is located on beautiful Amelia Island, Florida, and their downtown is really cool. We were visiting the Dickens Festival and while there, we enjoyed the downtown area so we wanted to film a walking tour of it for those of you that want to know what it looks like. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and ice cream places in downtown We can't wait to go back and try some more food and do some more shopping. We hope you enjoyed our full tour of Downtown Fernandina Beach, Florida on Amelia Island!
Stay tuned for another video coming soon. Thanks so much for watching! God Bless!!!

I was there years ago-20 years? We stayed at the Amelia Island Plantation-don’t know if that is still the name. We always said if we went back we would stay at the Hampton Inn that you pointed out. We went to the Palace Saloon. Cool place and I’m thinking they highlighted all the flags that have flown in FL. 7 maybe?
Oh cool! Thanks for sharing this! We would like to go back to explore some more. There seems to be a lot to do there and we barely scratched the surface!
I was born and raised there this what to see now is not Fernandina, The real Centre Street had mom and pop stores, drug stores, post office, Seltzers was our grocery store, The courthouse, Barnett Bank etc. what you see now is what happened all over Fla., Northerners buy up everything and turn beautiful Little Fla. towns into overcrowded circuses
Actually Fernandina is known as the Isle of Eight Flags as the island had frequently changed possession and been under eight different flags - the only United States location to have done so!
@@susanhodges699 thanks for sharing!
👍👍
Thanks!
When you come back you need to look into the filming sites of the 1980s Pippi Longstocking movie. The house is in what's known as Old Town. It's of course painted differently now. Also Faith Hill recorded her " Secret of Life" music video in the Palace Saloon and around town . Plus there was a made for TV movie recorded called " All She Ever Wanted" staring Marcia Cross. The court scenes were filmed on the 2nd floor of the post office downtown. Amelia Island is also known as the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry. Historic American Beach is also located on Amelia island and was the only beach in Florida during Jim Crow to offer Black Americans a safe and secure overnight accommodations. Lots of history all on this little island!!!
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing all of this information! We sure need to go back and check out all those filming locations. Seems like there are a lot of historical pieces there! Can’t wait to go back and thanks again for all this info!
Cool that the same name is on the old thing you found in your yard.
That’s what we thought!
Thanks for the tour
You are welcome!
Our cats are brother and sister. Named Tommy and Annika. (Tember will get it 😉)
Haha she said she knew what that meant! I had to ask her 😂
