  • Henrik Lott hunts moose and mountain caribou in the harsh country and rough terrain of the Canadian North West Territories. This is a pure wilderness backpack hunt in a hunting area with the size of Belgium and without any roads or settlements. The helicopter flys the hunters out and the hunt begins. Main game and wildlife in the South Nahanni Outfit is Moose, Mountain Caribou, Grizzly (protected), Dall sheep, mountain goat, wolf and wolverine.
    He hunts open sight (iron sight), shooting a Krieghoff Classic Big Five Double Rifle in .375 H.&H.
    Follow him on this pure wilderness adventure and experience one of the most remote and beautiful places on earth!
    A movie from Sebastian Steinbrink-Minami @Hunting Film Creatives www.hunting.film/

    Nice rifle... I watch the video with the volume off... So, I did not catch the Calibre...or make of the rifle; For YEARS all my brother and I ever hunted moose with was a .270... 140 gr. Knocked down MANY bulls... NEVER LOST ONE and NEVER had to chase or track them... Shot placement IS what it IS ALL ABOUT... GREAT COUNTRY... AND GOOD JOB ON THE VIDEO....

    Thanks for asking. There are two reasons for the second shot. First, on a wilderness hunt you shot as long as the animal is on its feet to avoid loosing it or a long follow up. And of course you shoot to minimize the suffering!! A canadian moose can weight up to 800 kg. Best regards.

    Excellent work!! Two very clean, ethical kills after successful stalks, which is as it should be when you go hunting. I especially like it that you shoot both animals using open sights. That of course required you to get much closer to the animal being hunted and therefore more in tune with the animal in its environment. One thing I cannot stand is the new trend among some hunters of sniping at game from 1,000+ yards. Such long range sniping is unethical hunting, in my opinion.

    Precision shot with a Rifle is more important then caliber of the rifle. I've used 223 and ,243 rifle on a mose. Its much better to be a great shot with rifle you like and use a lot. Then to buy big 375 and can't hit nothing with it. But its a very beautiful rifle and great video very nice moose.

    • @outdoordoug8588

      Because it is a side by side, the barrel end is heavier. This is called an African carry. It makes carrying a heavier side by side for longer times easier.

    Most people will not get a chance or even a shot off for that matter at either one of those two beast. This man was lucky enough to have killed one of each. Shooting only iron sights on the caribou had to be so hard. They are incredibly hard to stalk let alone get in close enough for a solid clean kill. I would love to see all the footage from that stalk.

    • @InvestigatorPierce
      @InvestigatorPierce 2 роки тому

      Lol my uncle and his two buddies have gotten a moose per year for the past 30 years...His last year they almost gave up and on the last day my uncle went to take a piss in the creek (to mask the scent) and he looked up and saw a massive moose...Even tho they had to be 20 hours to be helicoptered out he took the shot. they spent the next 14 hours butchering and hauling the meat to the the helicopter landing space. However I also know some people who have hunted 30 years and never even gotten close to killing a moose. Some people suck at hunting.

    • @alexanderx33
      @alexanderx33 3 роки тому

      @@davemurphy3813 That's technically not true (heirlooms) but that isn't important anyway.
      What's really important when we talk about the price of things is: Is the displeasure (cost) of getting the money, less or greater than the pleasure (benefit) received from the trade. This would have to be very very very intensly pleasurable to equal all the time and effort of getting the money for it. For almost everyone (99.9%) it wouldn't balance out due to their income but that isn't even the worst part because of the opportunity cost. If you tried to find something that lasts the same amount of time but is more enjoyable and less expensive. I'm willing to bet you can think of such a thing, even many such things. As to being able to say you have done it, there are far far easier things to pursue (again remember the monitary cost is an effort) that nonetheless are both more personally gratifying and more respected by others ie, survival in a remote environment, making/building something difficult yet cheaper or not otherwise procurable, etc. Sorry for the long responce.
