Canadian Double - Hunting Moose and Caribou
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 лют 2016
- Henrik Lott hunts moose and mountain caribou in the harsh country and rough terrain of the Canadian North West Territories. This is a pure wilderness backpack hunt in a hunting area with the size of Belgium and without any roads or settlements. The helicopter flys the hunters out and the hunt begins. Main game and wildlife in the South Nahanni Outfit is Moose, Mountain Caribou, Grizzly (protected), Dall sheep, mountain goat, wolf and wolverine.
He hunts open sight (iron sight), shooting a Krieghoff Classic Big Five Double Rifle in .375 H.&H.
Follow him on this pure wilderness adventure and experience one of the most remote and beautiful places on earth!

Beautiful country & that is a fine rifle! Good stuff!
Nice rifle... I watch the video with the volume off... So, I did not catch the Calibre...or make of the rifle; For YEARS all my brother and I ever hunted moose with was a .270... 140 gr. Knocked down MANY bulls... NEVER LOST ONE and NEVER had to chase or track them... Shot placement IS what it IS ALL ABOUT... GREAT COUNTRY... AND GOOD JOB ON THE VIDEO....
I’ve watched this video 3 times. I’ll watch it again next time it pops up in my suggestions.
Canada the greatest country in the planet proud to be Canadian 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Except for your socialistic government
Congrats. Nice hunting adventure and really nice gun.
" I HAVE JUST ONE THOUGHT THIS IS MY MOOSE" 👍👍👍
" IF I HAD TO GO BACK EMPTY HANDED FROM THIS HUNT I WOULD BE EQUALLY FULL OF IMPRESSIONS AND ADVENTURES " 💜💜💜
Thanks for asking. There are two reasons for the second shot. First, on a wilderness hunt you shot as long as the animal is on its feet to avoid loosing it or a long follow up. And of course you shoot to minimize the suffering!! A canadian moose can weight up to 800 kg. Best regards.
OSH Lott I always shoot until they drop
Spray and pray
Very nice video. It was a pleasure to watch.
Right down the road from me. Great video. Love the respect you showed the animal and land.
Just got my winter moose a week ago. Fall can't come quick enough
Du bist wirklich ein Held. Die Krönung der Schöpfung
The .375 H&H sure puts them down !
Nice hunt
bloody marvelous, vary classy rifle ..
2 absolutely nasty shots, thats my dream hunt right there
Absolutely beautifull. Absolutely love the naration as well.
I wanna join your team buddy nice hunting ....
Like the 375H&H a lot!
beautiful animal
I'm absolutely pumped because me and my dad might go there for a moose hunt in 2019
Get a big one!!
Jus' Nuts I hope so, we're gonna go to the outdoor show in February to get a good guide for us
Wish we had moose here in the South. That would justify my desire to buy a .375 H&H mag! But that's a bit too much for whitetails!
So have you done it yet?
@@JebDMan I guess its not big game season yet.
Nice film👍🏼
Excellent work!! Two very clean, ethical kills after successful stalks, which is as it should be when you go hunting. I especially like it that you shoot both animals using open sights. That of course required you to get much closer to the animal being hunted and therefore more in tune with the animal in its environment. One thing I cannot stand is the new trend among some hunters of sniping at game from 1,000+ yards. Such long range sniping is unethical hunting, in my opinion.
well said
What a fantastic hunt. I did almost same hunt as you, and got me a nice bear to. No meat was wasted.
Congrats with your Moose and caribou.
They are only good during berry season though.
Beautiful country
Thanks for a great video....its so great nature up north
Canada, the beauttiful country of the world. I want to know and live Canada S2
It's a very beautiful Country I'm from Canada. Very Nice to Travel and visit alot of places. Only thing that sucks and this depends where you live In Canada is the Winter and even then isn't so bad but then again I'm Canadian so I'm probably used to it.
“f*ck, I hear pow, and i see the other one going and i see him go...” ahah so canadian. I’m from Ontario and this just became a dream hunt. Congratulations!
Precision shot with a Rifle is more important then caliber of the rifle. I've used 223 and ,243 rifle on a mose. Its much better to be a great shot with rifle you like and use a lot. Then to buy big 375 and can't hit nothing with it. But its a very beautiful rifle and great video very nice moose.
Schöner Erlebnisbericht
Good stalking and shooting...tremendous
Beautiful movie!!!
What a nature LOVE IT Nice film 💪🏻
Fatto molto bene con spiegazione più che corretta. Mozzafiato la visuale e 1 voce più che amica in sottofondo.
Good hunting
WOW...fantastic!!!
Beautiful country & a good hunt. What caliber was the rifle in & what's the cost?
The 7mm magnum or 300 Winchester Magnum are good choice too.
Very nice
Well done good shooting
Fantastic video, beautyful colours.
Majestic landscape
Looks like a great rifle
Excellent !
Какая красота там,горы как будто нарисованы!
awesome hunting
I would love to do this hunt. One thing that bothers me however, is the hunter pointing his muzzle at other people while carrying it. I would be stopping and having words with a fellow hunter who did this near me.
I guess he thinks , since he's carrying an African style rifle, he should do the African carry and swing the barrel at everyone
Because it is a side by side, the barrel end is heavier. This is called an African carry. It makes carrying a heavier side by side for longer times easier.
Ya but these guys are professionals...
perfect video, great gun!
very very nice
Thanks for the nice video, I will go there in the next few years.
good shooting. great video
Liked that.
This video is making me want to immigrate to Canada,

Exelent video. Congrats
Awesome video. Beautifully shot
What calber is your handsome rifle?
375 h&h
what type round would you have to risk shots through the leg without ricochet?
What caliber was the guides rifle?
Guter Schuss
First shot on the moose was already a kill shot, why take the second shot? Especially when it hit straight to the gut. What a mess.
Not sure he's worried about eating them
Yes, but getting it down is crucial, saves time for the hunter and stops the animals suffering! he got the gut and then the right hind leg... so i guess its a win win
You keep shooting until its dead
to finish the poor moose's suffering maybe
@@johnstacy7902 Not really, a shot to the lungs or heart is a 100% kill but the animals tends to run off in pure adrenaline shock. My last deer ran like 25-30meters before it died, and it was a 100% lung shot.
From the video it seems like you are using the Norma African PH ammo, which is loaded with the heavy 350 grain Woodleigh bullet. Was the Krieghoff DR regulated with this ammo from factory?
Yes, i used the Norma PH. The DR was regulated with this ammo by Krieghoff.
What pack is that at 2:46 on the left?
This is the hunter call of the wild on real life
Most people will not get a chance or even a shot off for that matter at either one of those two beast. This man was lucky enough to have killed one of each. Shooting only iron sights on the caribou had to be so hard. They are incredibly hard to stalk let alone get in close enough for a solid clean kill. I would love to see all the footage from that stalk.
Lol my uncle and his two buddies have gotten a moose per year for the past 30 years...His last year they almost gave up and on the last day my uncle went to take a piss in the creek (to mask the scent) and he looked up and saw a massive moose...Even tho they had to be 20 hours to be helicoptered out he took the shot. they spent the next 14 hours butchering and hauling the meat to the the helicopter landing space. However I also know some people who have hunted 30 years and never even gotten close to killing a moose. Some people suck at hunting.
Was für ein Equipment Gürtel ist das ?
Nice👍👍👍

Do you not have to wait a certain amount of time after you fly in in the Northwest Territories to hunt
Absolutely right Randy. The hunt started the following day. Regards from Germany!
Got stranded for two extra days, but that's okay because they had plenty to eat! Bonus!
the great play of adventure
Hello Henrik. Looks like you had a great hunt with your double rifle with iron sights!! Hurrah!! Please let me know what knife you have on your belt, a Puma maybe?? Andrew
Dear Proriz, the knife is a PUMA IP "Dagger stag". Regards, Henrik
Epic hunt what cal??
375. H&H Mag.
Love the 375 it like the 30 06 it only get better
Is the hunting animals legal in canada 🇨🇦?
What is the name of the outfitter?
Werner Aschbacher is the outfitter.
What make is your rifle?
thank you
show the second shot
what distance do you limit your shots to?
+Lee Davis It depends on the size of the animal. A big moose I would shoot up to 150 meters free hand, a roe deer up to 50 -60 meters. But my ambition is to come as close as possible. Thats why i shoot most of my game at distances between 10 and 80 meters.
80 meters should be a max. only pour shooters use scope.and desperate shooters pull the trigger more than 50 to 80 meters out.
OSH Lott hello, I am a fairly new rifle hunter, and Open sights hunting is what interests me by far the most.
Is there some sort of online meeting point for hunters of this preference, where experiences can be shared, books and videos reccomended and hunts perhaps organised ?
I just want to become as skillfull and nature connected hunter as I can be, and any advice you can give me would be appreciated!
Thank you! :)
Claus
Where was this
North West Territories. Between Whitehorse and Fort Simpson. Regards, Henrik
First shot: Thumb up.
Er.... not second shot... Kinda wondering if 2nd shot is really needed.
You never stop shooting as long as they are standing
what kind of a knife is on your side
PUMA IP Dagger Steg
I want that rifle.
Beautiful, but absurdly expensive. Could probably buy a new car for what this cost, and it only lasted about a week.
While I agree that this hunt is well out of most people's price range, the experience would outlast any material thing.
@@davemurphy3813 That's technically not true (heirlooms) but that isn't important anyway.
What's really important when we talk about the price of things is: Is the displeasure (cost) of getting the money, less or greater than the pleasure (benefit) received from the trade. This would have to be very very very intensly pleasurable to equal all the time and effort of getting the money for it. For almost everyone (99.9%) it wouldn't balance out due to their income but that isn't even the worst part because of the opportunity cost. If you tried to find something that lasts the same amount of time but is more enjoyable and less expensive. I'm willing to bet you can think of such a thing, even many such things. As to being able to say you have done it, there are far far easier things to pursue (again remember the monitary cost is an effort) that nonetheless are both more personally gratifying and more respected by others ie, survival in a remote environment, making/building something difficult yet cheaper or not otherwise procurable, etc. Sorry for the long responce.
Having a helicopter pick up the meat! Wow. He paid extra but got the deluxe treatment. If you've got the cash for it why not? Thanks for sharing
If you think that a Krieghoff Classic is expensive, I suppose that you wouldn't spend $1M on a Boss o/u rifle. The Krieghoff Essencia costs more than the Classic. You could buy a house for the price of a Boss. You couldn't buy a Bugatti for the price of a Boss.
the firearm at 2.50m not double rifle but rifle shotgun
I am like hunting
Who had the funds to fly the meat off with a helicopter?
That's the standard procedure of the Outfitter in the MacKenzieMountains, there is simply no other way to get a few hundred kilos meat out.
Ok, but whom can afford such a thing?
Could this be an advertisement to sell hunting weapons to rich people?
krieghoff is a rich mans hunting gun they've been selling it to them long before these kind of ads
A fresh trophy moose in good condition in an area that doesn't require freeze packing can be worth 4000 usd in total market revenue.
no problem for henrik lott!
lott-lacke.de
In Alaska, you cannot use a helicopter for transportation or hunting. What's with the Canadian government? Soon they will ban half the guns there, so it won't matter I guess.
what caliber?
+Edward Sabo caliber .375 H.&H.
+Hunting Film Creatives belted or flanged?
+AfricanlionORK belted!
Во люди живут на вертолёте лося перевозят! А мы пешком до машины несколько километров!
And caribou
👍
Lol der zweite schuss hat ja wohl weich getroffen :(
What cal
375
Hi Henrik, did you get much rust on the gun in those conditions? thanks chuck
+mchughcb Not at all. Krieghoff offers ilaflon coating (PH Pro coating) for their rifles, which makes it to a pure all weather-all Terrain gun. You can see it in the next Videos here!!
