The reason MJ didn't shoot as well that year was because he played all year with torn ligaments in a finger in his shooting hand. He still shot 47% and scored 29 ppg, higher than Kobe's career average.
And not to mention that Scottie missed a lot of the time at the beginning of the season which caused Michael to carry a heavier burden on both sides of the ball. He was 35 when the playoffs started.
Bob Costas was dumb enough to think Jordan struggling from three point range that year was because "the line was moved back". However he forgets that from 1989 to his first retirement in 1993, Jordan shot 36% from downtown on the long line, a high percentage for back then and still above average for today. It was due to injuries to his shooting hand and NOT the line being moved back. In fact Jordan from 1989 on shot almost 38% for his career from downtown, a significantly higher percentage than Kobe. Both are career 33% three point shooters, with Jordan playing in an era where defense was much tougher, open threes much rarer, and threes in general shot a LOT less.
mann i just love the left-to-right crossover he does with his right hand. actually, i think that was one of his BEST crossover moves. he got his opponent almost every time he did that move.
man your so right look at what the dude mivado3 wrote??? in 98 he was 35 years old still the best in the NBA he is the best ever but no way was his last year as a Bull his best year.....glad to see someone else knows what they talking about....good call bro.....
yeah alaskan, it seemed that whenever the bulls were down or tight at the half, Jordan would always say at the end of the game, "We made the necessary adjustments" and take home the win.
they had a habit of starting games of that season a bit slow, but turned it on at the end. There'd be times when they'd be down at the first quarter or even the half, but by the end they'd usually pullout either a blowout or convincing wins.
@JoeBK81 hey i know your comment is 2 yrs old but i just had to reply my dad did the exact same thing and im 18 now and have been watching MJ Since 96' on tapes and luckily for youtube i could check out how he played before which amazes me even more ur kid is one lucky i still have mine on vhs
98 was not his best year I am a huge fan watched him since 88 and 1998 was not his best year, it was a great year as were all the rest but not his best....
Just looked at how hard that 1:05 crossover dribble is. You cant steal the ball. Jedi stuff. Kids, be students of the game. Learn. Dont listen to them Nick Wrongs behind a desk that have never done a thing atthletic in their life.
he was smarter, stronger, and more mature in 98 but athletically he was better every other year....when he came back in 95 in the middle of the season he was his worst other then when he was with the wizards....but 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, he was better....even in the 80s he was better but since he didnt win a championship till 91 im not gonna comment on that....

F. Tyler Peck he shot 46.5% and scored 28.7 ppg. why did you round up? idiot.
Blue Skeptic - I know right. It's how mathematics works, lol. The MJ hatred is hilariously pathetic.
Just wondering, how to did MJ got his finger ligament on his shooting hand torn? I’m a huge MJ fan and curious to know. 🙂

Rodman was an underrated passer.
