    I am only 15, but I really want to be a nurse at a nursing home. I love old people, and seeing how well the nurse took care of my grandma it is just made me want to be a nurse even more! I am always helping old people whether it's walking them to there car or Carrying there groceries, I just love it so I'm trying to see what I want to get into and stuff.

    Thank for the video. I currently work at the rehab portion at a SNF. I have been there for a couple of years now and have been trying to slowly transition to hospital. I'm just a little lacking in confidence changing from ST/LTC to acute care even though my unit is like a med-surg floor. I need a little confidence lol and I am working on it. I also hate changing jobs but I feel like I need to get that hospital experience to better my nursing skills

      I felt the same about my skills when I was working in SNF but I left the hospital in January due to covid. It was getting too much for me. I'm at an acute rehab now. But if you want to challenge yourself, I do recommend trying the hospital. It's really different. Please share if you do! I wish you well.

( I am a retired social worker)....how about Emergency staff.... police officers.....Surgeons......so sick of the ongoing complaining!!!! @@ashleyz4888 I started on a bone marrow transplant unit and worked with patients with multiple myeloma and other blood cancers who would get stem cell transplants. Some of the patients did really well and it was rewarding to help them through chemotherapy and immunosuppression and see them get well enough to go home. I got a lot of experience with central lines and became chemo certified which can help you make more money as a specialty area in some places. The down side I think is that some patients can go septic pretty quickly and some of the patients who don't do well become really sick and it's sad to see them suffer. I worked at my first job for 4 years and learned a lot. If you're interested in oncology, go for it!

    Hey Nimpha, this was a very informative video! I have been struggling to find a hospital job since graduation. How long did you work at the snf before working at the hospital? What unit are you currently working in? I got an offer for a RN NOC position, but I'm a little worried to be on my own. Orientation is 2 weeks. • @lifeofanightnurse4299
      @lifeofanightnurse4299  5 років тому +1

      blo0m4ever What I like about nursing here is that there's a lot of option, you just have to start somewhere. Don't be worried too much, just ask for more orientation time if you don't feel comfortable or safe, but you'll never really feel ready because orientation is just really short and you won't learn everything in that time span. Where I was at, they give 6 weeks for new grad. And always remember that you'll have your co-worker, just ask questions or for help. What state are you in? I'm in a med/Surg ortho&GI right now

      Depende kasi yan kung saan syang State nag work at depende sa SNF na pinapasukan nya. Night sya pero 8 hrs shift lang ang duty nya kaya hindi nya napag daanan siguro ang hirap ng evening shift sa skilled nursing facility which is 2pm-10pm or 3-11pm. Dumarating 95% ang mga admission sya evening at night shift. Kung ang start nya ay 2pm, mag kakandarapa sya sa admission na darating ng 4-8pm depende pa kung ilan ang admission nya, at ilang pasyente na assign sa kanya at kung may umabsent pa na nurse sa evening shift, nasa 16-18 pasyente plus 1-2 admission. Kung walang call off nasa 13-15 ang pasyente mo plus 1-2 admissions. Ang isang admission depend sa level of care ay papalo ng 2-3 hrs ang pag admit. Tapos mag papasa kapa ng gamot ,tapos may fall kapa, tapos naka buntot pa ang ibang pamilya, tapos may mga phone call kapa na mga concerns galing sa family. Yan ay kung evening shift ka na 2-10pm. Sa video nya, night shift sya na 11-7am malamang, kaya wala masyadong action dahil nagawa na ng morning & evening shift ang admission. Pero dapat night shift parin ang mag o-audit ng mga charts at orders na ginawa ng morning & evening shift. Nag work din ako sa Skilled nursing facility, morning, evening, & night shift, 8 hrs & 12 hrs naranasan ko yan. Very busy ang 12 hrs NOC, ganun din ang evening shift na 8 hrs. Kaya marami ang nurse na gusto sa hospital mag work dahil bagamat stable ang pasyente sa SNF pero mabigat ang work load. Sa hospital, nasa 5-7 maximum mung pasyente.
