Thank you for this practical exhortation! My heart for everyone else listening to this teaching is that we apply these principles in light of the direction given to us by our King Jesus to “seek the kingdom first”.
Modern psychology is very tempting to turn to and often does not compute with God's word. (mindfulness, avoiding intensity, changing jobs, practical tips etc.)
21:45 Exodus 18v18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.
In other words- how do we exhort, work hard, and obey without ending up stressed and tense? I am usually in the word every morning and am diligently trying to study God's word.
Does the Bible talk about intensity? - Hard conversations, confrontations, arguments and why the body has trouble handling these stressors?. Also, does the Bible mention chronic stress in relation to overworking? I have had a really hard time resting and having fun and every time I have a hard conversation (theology, politics, etc) I feel so depressed and anxious. I struggle with physical tensity surrounding this. How do I think about this Biblically?
Millennial Tad, "Whaaat! Being couch potato is a sin?! Noooooo!" Pastor Toby, "What have I been talking about for the last hour! Get the Ding Dong out of you ear! I mean really take that thing out of you ear. It looks stupid! Really!"
37:08 What does this mean? Is this the ‘guidance’ everyone talks about? I never had that information, or at very least not in any form I could recognize.
@@ChristKirk Wow - I appreciate the response. I didn’t expect it on an older video. My church (non-denominational, conservative, pseudo-Baptist) often mentioned divine guidance, but I never got any that I noticed (with one possible exception that was probably just loopy dreaming from lack of sleep), and while I got a temp job from a Deacon there (a dead end summer job - not a career path), I never really got any advice or guidance other than to pray and wait upon the Lord’s guidance, and nothing I was reading in the Bible seemed to apply to the decisions/plans that had to be made either, but applied only to how to behave morally while doing [whatever the thing is]. I used to pray about it about twice a day, but by 10-15 years later that has mostly worn off and I’m just kind of coasting.

We find the information we need in God's Word and through the counsel of His people.
