Hello Everyone! Welcome to our channel and thank you for all of your support. This video is now 4 years old and the view count has suddenly flown through the roof! We are a small family business in the South-East of the UK, so for us this is a HUGE deal! The jewellery seen here was sold during the sale for the following prices: - Ruby and Diamond Line Brooch - £5,000 - Aquamarine Brooch - £7,000 (These are hammer prices excluding any buyer's premium) We hope this video brings many of you an insight to what a small auction house can see in the space of one month, as you never know what's going to come through the door, so keep your eyes peeled for more of our content 👀 Finally, thank you to all of the new subscribers - we've finally made it to 1k!!
New subscriber from Norway here ! I've inherited a few nice pieces of modest jewellery. Mostly sea shell cameos. Of wich there's a pair of hanging earrings in rosé gold from the 1870's. All my cameo jewellery are at least a century old. So they're antiques. But are they also vintage ? I thought items that are less than a century old should be called vintage. And possibly even retro if they become fashionable again... Could someone enlighten me on this ? 🤔💎💍
I went to that auction. It was insane. Everything sold way above estimates, like 10 times more! I remember a little golden pin of a mouse or hedgehog, £500 est., sold for £5000, and it was nothing special. The days before you could see it all and they let you handle and try on anything - except the wedding tiara that was "too delicate" and likely to fall apart. A teenage girl was trying on a diamond necklace that was way too tight, and each of the big round diamonds was gigantic. I wanted to say "come on, you know you can't afford that!". They had a jewelry room, household furniture and stuff, a few paintings and an entire room of silver, much of it wedding gifts that were pretty unique (like silver kiwi bird models from the govt. of New Zealand, or a block of gold from a visit to a South African mine). Lots of fun, and they had photos of Margaret using many of the items.
Correction: A coat-of-arms is NOT the same as a crest. The crest is ONLY the top symbol within a coat-of-arms. HRH Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon's COA is the shield, supporters, etc. Just clarifying for the masses interested in heraldic matters.
How wonderful to work there where you can handle and admire all these beautiful items. My favourite is the oval gate-leg table. I can't afford it, but it's nice to look!
John Donald, Aqua Marine Brooch. My Grandmother loved Aqua Marine, I wonder what that achieved? It looked perfectly included, for the size, wouldn't distract from it at all
You simply must have to put with each item, a photo of Pss Margaret wearing them. Be warned….the leather folder with the Provenance Certificate, goes very mouldy in a safe!
Poor Margaret. During life and even in death, everything just seemed so sad for her. But beautiful pieces, to be sure. That sapphire ring looks so much like Diana's (and now Catherine's)!
I think that Princess Margaret’s children will eventually come to rue the day that they sold more than they needed to sell to pay death duties ? And not solely for sentimental reasons.
These personal jewelleries of Princess Margaret should have gone to her daughter Lady Sarah. Her son didn't understand its sentimental value and he sold them. Very cheap. A mother's jewelleries should always go to her daughter first.
I wonder how much those pieces sold for? and how sad to be selling Princess M's jewellry in the frist place (2006) only 4yrs after her death, and that 12yrs later the value has gone down because no one cares who she was :(
It’s not that people don’t care who she was. It’s that an auction environment at a certain time can create hyper competitive bidding wars. At an auction, all it takes are two bidders to drive up the price.
We have pinned a comment on this video with the prices achieved for both pieces of jewellery 👨⚖️ Her memory lives on partly through her stunning and very quirky jewellery, for which there are so many collectors around the world!
What makes them this much expensive? Historical value or because of being belong to a fameous person. If you look them closely youlk see only afew grams of gold and small carats of gem Stones, and you are talking about million dollars.
Which idiot priced all that??? The fact they all sold for more last time, the fact they are royal with paperwork and photos all indicates they will fetch even more than last time. So why were they eatimated nearer scrap value????
The items were Princess Margaret's personal jewellery, given to her by family and friends, or commissioned by her for herself. She left it to her children who sold it to raise funds to pay inheritance taxes.
Rubbish. You can buy such worthless pieces of semiprecious stones or carats golds or platinum jewelries in kilograms in HongKong. With more than one can possibly imagine of how looting and in slavery took place , historical valuables , priceless jewelries were snatched from India's glorious history to pour upon British treasures . It's time to take back what was stolen from many countries by Britain.
@@maidmarion2976 Certainly not living in England and am very lucky to be not. So called benefits provided was not for free. Our people paid every single dime that the so self proclaimed white superior imposed . Britain is still under debt of Trillions of dollars to India. A British empire built on innocent peoples blood and with wicked divide and rule policy. What a shame. 👎🏼👎🏼

You have to remember, Americans don't quite get the royalty statues. They get confused and don't understand the one from the other.

I absolutely love vintage jewelry!
We can't get enough of it either! 😍
A wonderful collection. @5:40, that sapphire and diamond ring should go for a lot higher than the pre-sale estimate.

I want the sapphire and diamond ring!
Never made Diana happy?
Me too!!!! 😮
Who is this utterly gorgeous man?!
🌵 Princess Margaret sapphire and diamond ring is very similar to Lady Diana's/Kate's engagement sapphire and diamond ring.

How lovely!
The Safire ring is exquisite 🔮
I love this video!
Beautiful
Would have been nice to have had a foot note to this video and tell us what price the actual pieces sold for...??
I guess it's pretty randomly asking but does anybody know a good place to stream new tv shows online?

Man from Uncle! I have card to say I could be called up at any time!
Interesting video!
I like the Medals
I had from my husband’s family a gate legged table similar to your Danish one. It was circa 1900. Sadly, no more….
John Donald, Aqua Marine Brooch. My Grandmother loved Aqua Marine, I wonder what that achieved?

Amazing
Keep it up!
Ha! Your ballet books…..I have her bronze statue of Margot Fonteyn as ‘Ondine’.
Awesome
Lovely frames behind chairs?

I believe that’s a classic style for a British engagement ring.

Please let us know the bids accepted, you opened the site and left everyone hanging.

Anything for Pound?
Living History
Turner and Constable
who would want to own anything that cow owned?

More than likely, Sarah had already selected items she wanted from her mother’s collection before anything went to auction.
Are you in london
So does anyone know how much they went for in the end?

Who is selling off her belongings????
The original seller was her son. These are from the people who bought them then.
Ring is kinda dinky. Someone wants to make money.
For that much money and then people to just handle it with their bare hands and show it in a poorly kept room….no thanks. 😅
His putting his fingers into the rings does not show them off to greater advantage.
Fancy cut up poster!
Great. Present. Time. Pray wish. Time i share. Tillawat. Quran. PAK.
All that money for office chairs?!! Rip off.
Don’t believe one word of this!
Well, I’ve got something. I was there. So I know.

"Jewelry" not "jewellery"
Jewellery is the correct English spelling.
