  • This video is a case study on 5,000 Cr. Fraud done by Unitech Limited in Noida. In early 2000's Unitech Group was considered to be a rising star of Indian Real estate and by 2005 they were 2nd largest real estate developers in India. They were also owners of fastest growing telecom company in India - Uninor. By 2019, they had over 74 projects which were under construction and had 15,000 home buyers who were waiting for the possession of their homes. In 2019, supreme court ordered central government to takeover the management of Unitech Group and complete the pending projects. Later, It was found that Managing directors of Unitech Group have laundered over 5,000 cr. Of funds which were collected from home buyers and financial institutions. 15,000 home buyer have been waiting for over 10 years now for possession of their homes but still it will take another 1 - 4 years for completing all the delayed under construction projects.

    Good Coverage Bhai!
    But root of problem is BSP and later SP Govts who were on a spree to allot land parcels on Noida and Greatwr Noida between 2004 to 14.
    Second resposibility lies with SC who after giving false hopes to homebuyers has put the case on a slow track like so many other r millions of civil suits in courts across the counrty.
    Only good thing is that Chandra brothers continue to be behind bars!!

      *Just to change your speculation* Invest in grade A developers which are Pan India brands and have different medium of income.
      Definitely comes with extra premium but protects your personal interests in a long run.

    You kindly missed the crux of the issue, but I dont blame you for that.
    Main point is simple. Buyers went to SC because Unitech had delayed the projects by 1-3 years and wanted the projects completed asap. However what SC has done with help from ex IAS offices and ex Judges is Delay the projects by another 5-8years.
    So for buyers who is the bigger evil people - its quite clear its judiciary. One should understand going to court in India doesnt help in-fact its going to drain you more financially and emotionally, So its always best to find solutions outside court if you want better resolution.

    The central govt talks so much about a common man , its high time our PM, Urban development ministry take interest and help in expediting early delivery of project to the investors. The only beneficiary so far have been the bureaucracy who have ripped the Unitech coffers by enjoying all the benefits and more at the cost of investors who have put in their hard earned money, most of them under Rs 2 crores ( saved out of salaries, PF accumulation, Gratuity and loans taken ) . No govt coming at the centre wants to help honest middle class people and they run the govt by paying taxes . If the BJP govt at centre helps these middle class people, it has done its job and become worthy to get re-elected, otherwise its a sheer waste of our votes in electing such selfish and self centered politicians to power

    They invested heavily in greater Noida but due to government change (don't remember who) in uttar Pradesh, metro and roads never reached there.

    Unitech is a classic story of " what goes up very quickly comes down" obeying law of gravitation.
    On a serious note , had the govt tightened the unitech mgmt for delivery with good controls , probably many projects would have been delivered. The issue is govt went to court , everything is getting delayed, what could have been done in 1 year has taken 6 to 7 years with no end in sight for the hapless property buyer , many of them have invested their PF and retiral benefits. Their future is completely spoiled by govt and courts.
    Let the govt become a little proactive in understanding the pain of the common man and help in early delivery of their prized property. The govt and courts have wasted enough and more time incl livelihood of the hapless investors.

    I have started believing on communist govt model is best option for India. China did it, we can do it too. But never through this corrupted democratic republic model.
