but doesn't being in long position mean benefit from in the increase in price of an asset? here according to the long put, we are benefitting from the decrease in the price of the asset! Please explain 🙏
Long calls will benefit from the underlying stock price increasing. Where as long puts will benefit from the underlying stock price decreasing. "Long" just means you bought the option. So a long call benefits when the stock price goes up, where as a long put benefits when the stock price goes down
