  • This video is from the TV-Asahi program "あの曲 この人 (That song, this person)," broadcast during 1996; the tenth anniversary of the song's debut and the celebration of Honda Minako's thirtieth birthday, according to the interviewer, 由紀さおり (Saori Yuki), at the end of the video. The arranger and pianist is 小森茂生, Shigeo Komori. Katherine Cash. The video is not only beautiful, but of great importance as it marked the making of "Marilyn....." into a classical piece, an important part of the Crossover that began with the album "Junction," and Minako's lifelong collaboration with Tokiko Iwatani. This is a reload of the video I uploaded on December 4, 2011.
This video has been uploaded because of its historic importance in the life and career of Honda Minako. It is intended solely for historic and educational purposes, only, consistent with the provisions of Section 7 of the U. S. Copyright Act of 1976. There is no intention to infringe upon any valid copyright.
I wish to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to my friends, "Bonryujin"-san (now "brjmh/brjsilver"-san) and "aflove1"-san, who gave generously of their time and skills in providing the information and the text of the on-screen interview in both Japanese and English translation. Because of UA-cam space limitations only the English interview text follows:

Minako: Ah, my way of life was thin and narrow up until then, like walking a tightrope. (Laughing) However, the road became very wide, and I came to love more things. I came to see things that I had not seen before. Well, was shy, VERY shy. For example, I was not able to talk easily with a new acquaintance, but once I opened up it was easy to have a friendly chat. When I realized that (if I opened my heart at the beginning) I could make myself understood most of the time. I learned that from my work in Miss Saigon. My character might have changed. I think that my way of thinking did change.
    Saori: It may be so.
    Minako: Yes.
Saori: Last question. What does the music "Marilyn in 1986" mean for Minako Honda?
Minako: It is a treasure for me. Yes, I would like to continue to sing this song instead of just keeping it, safely, in a box. I will polish "the treasure," and I continue to sing this song while changing the brightness in various ways.
Saori: Well, please sing the song.
    Minako: Yes.
Saori: Now, let us have the pleasure of Minako Honda, singing fully and freely to express what she feels and thinks.
    MINAKO SINGING
Saori: Thank you very much. Were you able to sing Marilyn in 1996 according to your images?
Minako: Because the arrangement is new, I am glad, again. I, myself, feel happy.
    Saori: Have nice Thirties.
    Minako: Thanks.

Thank you Pierre. Until Google destroyed it, UA-cam was a wonderful social site with friends, etc. Many of us collaborated as we made videos and developed descriptions. This was done here with Ted-san and Fumie-san (aflove1/aflove222). I am glad you appreciated the video...michael

Anyone know where I can find it ?
