There are many who would put Rolex as 1. or 2. AP not being listed I'm mixed, but as great as they are for the most part they're a one trick pony. Want a 11:59 buy it pre owned, buying one new is so you can get the Royal Oak. What does impress me and totally agree is Richard Mille isn't even mentioned, a watch for celebs, pimps,drug dealers, srms merchants and athletes, I do admit they are well made. I upvoted and subed.
I like that you have Casio on the list. They're good timepieces that anyone can afford. Also, as you said, some of their watches are like 40 year old NOS. For example, they still make the F91! This was the watch seen in the hit, 1985 movie, "Back to the Future". Who can forget Marty McFly (played by Michael J Fox) pulling the watch under his sleeve when it beeped as the restaurant owner was walking by? OTOH, I'm disappointed that Citizen wasn't on the list, for they deserved to be here. Not only are they in Japan as is Seiko, but they're innovators when it comes to watch making. They invented the quartz movement; they made the first titanium watch; and, they were the first to use solar power in a watch. Those are impressive innovations, and, for that reason alone, deserve to be on the list.
I agree with all of your choices but FP Journe. Just not a brand I have resonated with (pun.) - I’d order things differently though. Cartier a lot higher for example!.. I have the same number one as you (and an aquanaut on the wrist!)

Aesthetics or function? Innovation or elegance? There is no definitive method, obviously. To all the fanboys whose favorite brand is not in this list, don't worry, it's just one man's opinion.
Most important part of time pieces is keeping precise time. Zenith has 2300 precision awards, way higher, in fact 100x higher than even the holy trinity.

Sir you have forgotten Moritz Grossman they are one among the top in the watch industry on par with patek phillipe both are super expensive and not easy to buy thanks god bless

Zenith has won more historical accuracy contests for mechanical watches than any other brand. Lots of “first” technical advances as well.

As much as I (and I'm sure you) appreciate mechanical movements quartz accuracy is so good I think it deserves a place in horological history. I plan to buy a high end quartz watch someday. Also, does a company's past or present matter more? If past matters most, maybe Breguet is the best? They invented and manufactured the tourbillion back with tools and machinery that are primitive by today's standards. These are subjective questions and fun to discuss!
@@svrocko1 I was thinking the same thing. The top of the scale can be subjective. I am impressed with Casio and Seiko being there. I have seen Casio i.e. G-Shock listed in others top tens. Not everyone can drop thousands on a watch, many won't go over a few hundred. (dollars, pounds,euro). I probably would have placed Lange a bit higher, but such is life. If there was an 11 I would put Zenith, it maybe my next purchase, pre owned some great deals.

Well, you should not take it personally. Liking or not some brand is just a matter of opinion, no problem. But calling oneself a ’watch expert’ without even knowing such basics as the history of El Primero is pretty ridiculous.
Zenith just has a lousy name - decent watches though. The brand just doesn’t sound luxury at all. It reminds me of a giant cathode ray TV every time I hear the brand.
You don’t need to be a fan boy to know that Zenith isn’t a waste of money. They have the history and make incredible movements. They make great watches. Honestly you just come off a stubborn and unwilling to admit that you were wrong in the previous video.

I love me some Seiko, Hamilton, Oris, and Tudor. Basically all I buy. Also Casio, even some Timex

This why we love watches. Art is always personal and subjective.
