You might consider using a commercial door brush seal kit for your router skirt. You can get a 50mm nylon brush, remove it from its mount then glue it to the circumference of your router base for a more stable skirt and one that is replaceable.
+Stewart Robertson Hi Stewart, I realise this but I am on an adventure and am determined to make something from scratch. Many thanks - your idea is excellent. Peter
Hi Peter; I don't care for dust collection boots that ride with the spindle. If you build structure out and down from the carriage that rides the gantry the dust boot can be set a bare minimum off the spoil board. The spindle goes up and down through a spindle size hole in the top of the boot. No grass skirt required around the perimeter of the boot. You should also consider kicking the vac hose fitting off the boot at 45 degrees to the top of the boot. Better air flow at 45 than you get at 90 to the table. Cheers, G
+George Savage Hi George, I am not sure why I can't create a PM to you. I have mentioned your idea in my latest video and will create a design in due course. Many thanks. Peter
Peter, if you enable 'hard limits' in your GRBL settings ($21), UGS shouldn't be able to crash through your limit switches when you manually move your spindle around. It makes them work as stops, like when it is homing.
Excellent video, liked the order that the tool holder brought to the drawer. Haven't see you use the table saw insert previously (or can't currently recall at least), is it something you use much? You make it enjoyable to look in to the world of CNC, as it can be a challenging tool to create interesting content about. Keep up the great work.
+Craig Hastie Hi Craig, I use the Festool CMS-TS all the time and it is brilliant. It is my only table saw as all the large work is done on my track saw cutting station using a separate TS55. Peter
Peter, Your videos are always so informative and worthwhile. Is the x-carve suitable for inlay work? I have been looking at the x-carve. But what can I expect out of this machine compared to others that are in the $4000-$5000 range. I value your opinion.
+Ron Kursinskis Hi Ron, I have not tried any inlay work yet but do not anticipate any difficulties. The key thing will be using software that makes it easy. Vectric's VCarve Pro does this - take a look at their tutorial on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/HntQJ7b0HBI/v-deo.html I am sorry that I cannot comment on other CNC machines as I have not used any other than the X-Carve. Peter
Excellent. Nice finish on that insert. Do you use the Festool CMS tablesaw insert permanently, or do you have another tablesaw? I have the CMS router table, and have considered buying the TS55 insert, but I can't decide whether that is better than a separate stand alone table saw. Do you find it a pain to switch between table saw and using the TS55 normally? Apologies, I know it isn't a CNC question, but I spotted you using the CMS and thought I'd ask!
+Highlandboxes Hi Pam, I get mine from Routercutter UK. They are really well priced and seem to be a bit better than the usual ones from Trend and so on. Peter
Peter, you might like MTMWOOD's channel, I just recently discovered it, He does a lot of cnc work and has many videos, Though he has a habit of making things look very easy, Which im sure they are not lol...
+Amaury Jacquot Hi Amaury, Yes, I have seen this and it is a good price but not easily available here in the UK. I have another solution which will give some entertainment if not food for thought when the video comes out soon. peter

Thanks for doing the video. It's a good source of info. Pleasant voice if that matters.

+Rico S Hi Rico, Yes, I have the TS55 in that insert all the time. It is fantastic and I do not need another table saw. Peter
Hi peter where do you get your bits from im in scotland and mostly get mine on amazon and they come in from china but would prefer to buy in uk.

+Aaron Elliott Thanks Aaron. Peter
Would you happen to have the file for your new wasteboard?
I did not keep it, sorry. It is pretty easy to set up - just measure the space between centres and create a matrix of holes. Peter
I would have tried www.fastcap.com/estore/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=53770&idcategory=28 for the dust shroud
