- This is a review of the 2004 Special Edition DVD of Warner Bros. Pictures’ 1999 Animated Masterpiece, “The Iron Giant.” This film is based on the book, “The Iron Man,” by English writer Ted Hughes. The book was published in America under the title “The Iron Giant” to avoid confusion with the Marvel Character, “Ironman,” which appears in comics and movies. The film was the feature directorial debut of Brad Bird, who directed great animated films like “The Incredibles,” and “Ratatouille,” from Pixar Animation Studios. The film takes place in the 1950s, in a little seaside town in Maine. It follows an 11 year old boy named Hogarth Hughes, who was raised by his single mother. His mother works as a waitress at a local diner. One night a fifty-foot metal man called, “The Iron Giant,” lands in the sleepy little seaside town. The Giant lives near Hogarth’s house. Unfortunately, a paranoid government agent is on the hunt for this mysterious metal man, with intent to destroy it. Will Hogarth and the Giant be able to stop this government agent, find out in Warner Bros. Pictures, “The Iron Giant.” 🤖🦾🦿🌊☀️🏖️🏝️
