This is one of the greatest live performances ever, and this was at the end of a 3 hour show.👍🔥🎧
And right after their first encore La Villa Strangiato which is a beast in its own right to play especially for three guys that were damn near 60 in this show.
Absolutely nutz!
This is an awesome rendition. Completely different from their original.
God I love Rush.
That shot around the 07:26 mark where you get a close up of Geddy & Alex's hands & the speed & dexterity of their playing gets me every time. I was lucky enough to see them 7 times in the UK between 1983 & 2013 including this tour at Newcastle. This was at the end of a near 3 hour show ! Just amazing. I doubt there'll ever be another band quite like Rush.
Totally crazy his skill here, especially at his age, especially after a 3 hour set.
What are the odds that one of the greatest rock guitarists and bassists are classmates, and that when they lose their original drummer, and put out a call, they have Neil "the GOAT" Peart audition? Sometimes, once in a millennium, the Universe is in perfect alignment and things like Rush happen. 😊
Had no idea Alex and Geddy were classmates! No wonder the chemistry is so strong!
@@breakdownlounge9541 ya they were the two goofy loner kids that were drawn to each other by music, the fact that they were both first generation Canadians whose parents immigrated from eastern Europe, and their shared sense of humor. Their original drummer in their first LP John Rutsey had diabetes and drank heavily and Rushs manager was worried that going on tour would be the death of him so he was let go and the other two guys held an open audition to replace him and Neil Peart showed up, thank God, because who knows what they would have become without his lyrics and one man percussion section.
@@Fred-vy1hm Thanks again for your insight! This is so cool to read.
@@breakdownlounge9541 You should watch the documentary beyond the lighted stage it chronicles their journey from their childhood right up to the R40 tour. It's on UA-cam under the name the story of Rush, here's the link, enjoy.😊 ua-cam.com/video/s8_lDIkMFyg/v-deo.html
I've listened to this version dozens of times, I know what's coming, and it blows me away every time. Man what a RUSH!
Love this performance. Thanks for your reaction.
Suggest YYZ live in Rio for another great rush video. This is also later in their career but showcases immensely the talent
I had the pleasure of seeing Rush 53 times including the final show at the Forum in LA.... Watched Neil take his final bow.... Waited in the parking lot until 3:30am and got to meet Alex Lifeson before getting into his limo.... Such a nice guy.... Their promoter gave us 2 unused front row tickets.... That was my 53rd Rush show.... Alex said I was the kind of fan Neil agreed to do the last tour for.... I saw them for the first time at the Forum in 1978.
The greatest three man power band to grace a stage playing an uniquely unforgettable version of one of their old standards. It gets no better than this! This is as good a performance I have ever seen.
Best Working Man version EVER. ❤️🎶🎸🥁🎹❤️🎶🎸🥁🎹🎶
I agree 100% about Rush peak. It seems like they just got better and more proficient with every passing year. I can't really think of anyone else who did that.
So much power and energy!!
After a 3 hour concert!
Incredible!!!
Lol. One of the best closers. You gotta check out *Best Intro Ever.
That was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen..just an insane "Intro" all the beginnings of their songs pieced together.. what other band can do this. Rush..best band to ever walk this planet..
I always felt that Rush was just as good life if not better than an album. They were like fine wine they just got better with age. They're final album was amazing! I highly recommend that you check out bu2b, the caravan, or headlong flight. The concert was fantastic I highly recommend you watch it live.
People will be taking a knee to this band, and specifically to this performance, for the rest of time. I'm not kidding.
🤗 Thank you! Goodnight! 🤭😁🥰🐰
My suggestions for more amazing performances, with some amazing crowds:
YYZ Live In Rio
The Spirit Of Radio, Toronto Downsview Park, 2003

YYZ live in Rio!!
Must see!
@@edgarpacifico3421 a crowd of portuguese and spanish speakers are sing along to yyz which is an instrumental.
Think I may have found my next RUSH live song!
Whahoooo!! I was at this show. So Great!!! 1st half was Moving Pictures.
The little Reggae beat at the beginning reminds me of another 80s/90s Toronto band called Sattalites, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sattalites
Awesome! Hope you enjoyed ))
This was a great performance.
Rio
I saw them in 1978, 2112 tour
Not to be that guy but if you saw THIS show/tour in NOLA it was June 10, 2011! I got to see them twice on this tour, the first in a long time that was possible for me, and the last one I got to see twice on the same tour. The first date was 09/29/10 in ATL, GA at an outdoor amphitheater and then this one almost 9 months later. That was the largest span between gigs of seeing them on the same tour, usually it was consecutive dates or at least in the same week. Great reaction BTW and keep up the good music and especially 'RUSH'
I knew there had to be someone out there who was good with dates! Thanks for commenting, I am looking forward to doing RIO next.
I never saw them live. 😒Go ahead be that guy.🤘
YYZ live in Rio or Xanadu from Exit Stage Left live 1981
