I wonder what Simon would say about Dimash from Kazakhstan. Dude goes from low baritone to contralto tenor in the same breath. He has a 6 octave range and the highest note he has hit is a G8... 4 tones higher than the end of an 88 key piano. Whitney's songs are the soundtrack for the movie. One of the biggest selling soundtracks of all time, with some of her biggest hits ever. Aside from The Bodyguard soundtrack, check out her singing One Moment in Time (there's a great video from her performance at the '89 Grammys). Also... when she sang the Star Spangled Banner at the '91 Super Bowl. It's amazing. The pure joy on her face when she sang... was electrifying.

Ah Whitney 💕 Seriously one of the most beautiful women to ever walk the planet. I remember being in awe of her when I was a little girl. What gift she gave us, gone too soon.
This song is so beautiful. There will never be another Whitney. She turned the industry on it's head when she made her debut in the 80's. We had never heard anybody like her. Sort of like when we 1st heard Eddie Van Halen on guitar. One of a kind.

The Bodyguard came out when I was in school. Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Gloria Estefan were my intro to powerful singers. Then I went back to the 60s and 70s and discovered Ella Fitzgerald and Arerha Franklin.
I love the way she smiles just before she opens up her biggest note at the bridge. Like, watch me do this. And I am blown away every time. Irreplaceable voice. And, yes, like many of our greatest singers, she can sing multiple octaves, seemingly without limit.
There will never be another voice like Whitney Houston! May she RIP heaven has a beautiful voice up there!

There is an undeniable reason that Whitney was known as "The Voice".
She is by far the best singer that has ever lived in my opinion. I remember buying this cassette tape and learning every single song off of the soundtrack. Specifically this song and I'll always love you and she's been a major role to my music career

Whitney could sing the phonebook and give you chills. One of the impressive displays of her voice was the old AT&T True Voice video. It was a commercial, but her a capella singing will give you chills. Also, her Olympic song, "One Moment in Time"

The movie this video is from, The Bodyguard, was pretty good. It stars Whitney (and she's so gorgeous) and Kevin Costner. It was a big movie hit in its day.

You should check out “I’m Every Woman” by Whitney! It’s a faster song that I’m sure you will love. It’s a remake of a Chaka Khan classic.
So..fun fact...there was a study on her vocals and why she could hold or belt out certain notes. It's contributed to her having a wide mouth but also having a long jaw line and her cheeks expand. Watch closely when ever she sings the W sound. You can literally see the air make her cheeks expand.
First time she performed was on The Merv Griffin show. Think she was around 18 and people were blown away! We really lost so many icons that will never be replaced😢
