A tip I learned recently to help you not forget to clear out your safe: After you've packed for your final disembarkation and you have set aside what you are going to wear, put one of your shoes in the safe. You will need the shoe to be fully dressed and leave your cruise vacation, thus forcing you to open the safe on your final morning.
I totally agree with the "do not leave a mess". That is applicable everywhere: hotels, restaurants, public restrooms etc. Show respect and consideration for the cleaning staff please.
My sister and I, both former military(USN and USMC) took our first river cruise last year. When we left our cabin it was not exactly inspection ready but everything was put away and the beds were made, quarter-tight. I think we baffled our room steward.
I do the same at hotels. I hang up my towels and straighten up the room. I don’t make the bed, but I pull up the covers and I tell the steward or housekeeping that there’s no need to make the bed. They can check the TP, maybe remove the trash and I’m good on a day to day basis, I don’t need vacuuming or dusting every day. They’re not maids.
As former cruise security I agree with every point on this video and I'll add 2 more. Do not mess with the fire detector in your cabin and do not get completely wasted drunk
🤣🤣 I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay $3,000 to not drink and smoke. That's hilarious AF. If I get caught I'll pay your fee, but I've been smoking pot on cruises for years and getting WASTED. In the loud noise department -- shouting into your cellphone because you have a weak connection. On my last cruise, I called the cabin next door, using the ship's phone system. I told the woman who answered that I now knew her husband's entire confidential business strategy for the second quarter of the next year because I'd heard every single word of it, clear as a bell, through the cabin wall. That was on the first full day of the trip, and I never heard another sound from that cabin for the whole remainder of a two-week cruise!

Funny. There’s a scene in the film, “Best in Show” where one of the characters hangs tapestries in his hotel room that he’s in for just one night. Every time I watch it I think to myself, ‘who does that’?
Queen By Birth, I just did a “Booze Cruise” for my Sister in Laws B-Day, Long Beach to Ensenada, 3 days. First time on a cruise. I thought the same thing when I was reading the drink package literature. You are limited to 15 drinks a day on the package. They had to make the rule...can you imagine the drunken idiots who can put down MORE than 15 drinks in 1 day. The wife and I decided that “Alaska” type of cruises are probably more to our taste.

At least they had some help with the bourbon (dinner) Miraculously, all 3 of us have made it our late 50s. Only 1 of us needed rehab!
I worked on cruise ships…this guy is consistently correct in his videos! And, he is polite with his advice. If you are offended by anything he says, well, maybe YOU are the one who should consider a camping vacation in the wilderness… After working with cruise ship guests for awhile, if I was ever asked to offer advice to future cruise guests, I would probably not be so polite… Well done, sir! If you were on one of my ships, I would’ve given you all of the extra bonus perks that cruise staff reserve for the kindest guests…
Same. I went on a 10 day cruise without any room service at all simply because it was wasteful in my mind to my maid/steward and unnecessary and I only asked for tissue paper and another thing but why do people constantly need fresh towels and bed sheets. When we left I took all the bedsheets, towels, and pillow cases off and lazy folded them and put them on the desk so she could just pick it up. Takes me no time and I left a tip since they work very hard and she was nicest to me since she could just skip my room and use it as a break period.
I did that when I had my teen children in an adjoining room. It was all removed when we got on, it the staff stocked it every night afterwards. We only found out at checkout. We were completely refunded due to their lack of following very strict instructions for minors. (Of course our sons never told us during the trip). They thought they’d get away with getting drunk in their cabin. We thought they were sea sick. Nope. Parents don’t and can’t know everything. We try our best only to be undermined somehow. Infuriating. Ruined my memories of the entire trip. 😔💔
I like how Gary is very like any of us, sure he's on a cruise a lot more than any of us, but he's very connected to the middle class by avoiding big charges like the mini-bar stuff and he's mindful that some of us could be tempted to take the shampoo bottle or what not. Another good video! Thanks!

As someone who works in hospitality, whether you’re in a hotel or on a cruise or wherever, strip the bed and throw all the dirty linen and towels in the bathroom or bath tub before they come in to change your sheets, if you can. It saves housekeeping staff so much time and they’ll love you for it!
We always use our towels to dry off counters etc and then put them in the shower. We also strip the sheets when we leave. That’s primarily to ensure they change them for the next guest
For those who book an inside cabin, I suggest bringing a couple of tea lights for when you go to bed. It is incredibly dark when you switch off the lights in an inside cabin, which can make things difficult if you have to get up in the middle of the night. I just put a tea light by the bathroom door so I don't run into anything lol.
Candles are illegal at sea. Better option is thoes dollar pop lights with a sticky tape on the back. Advertising as bed lights. Or night lights. About the size of your hand and very flat.
We always bring a very small LED flashlight each!!! Then if we get up during the night, we don't wake up our partner nor stumble over the furniture. The upside of an inside room is no sunlight sneaking in if we decide to sleep late!
Took an old girlfriend on a cruise and our first stop as the ship had docked, I opened the curtains and she was awed at the view of the island. Well when we docked at our second island, she jumped out of bed naked and threw open the curtains there were tourists from another ship walking down the dock right next to the window. She yelled at me for not telling her about the people and I said “ Well you were the one who jumped out of bed and opened the curtains “ lol 😂 Still a laugh today !!!
My last two cruises, I requested that the fridge in my room be emptied so I could use it for health needs. They removed everything, placed it into a sack with a lock (RCCL) and placed it on the top shelf in my closet. If you can't resist the temptation of the minibar, know that you can request that it can be emptied prior to embarkation.
Bring along an non-insulated water bottle along with an insulated one and use the non-insulated one to chill water in the mini-bar for drinking. Ship water is made by desalination, once cold it’s great.
As someone who has never been on a cruise, my question is: are you allowed to put your own stuff in the minibar fridge? This may be a stupid question; we are thinking about doing a cruise and we have relatives that need to keep their meds cool.
Tell this to the 6000 people at port in Italy who are on LOCK down onboard their cruise ship because of 2 cases of presumptive CORONA virus....(No, not bad hangovers drinking cheap beer....)
We are on a ship that was parked backwards next to the other ship so both backs of the ship were facing each other we saw so many people doing drugs having sex doing all sorts of things it was pretty funny.
I was quite impressed on our last cruise. It was a newer ship, and (like in some European hotels), you have to put your room key in a slot on the wall to make the outlets work. Hence, when you pull your card to exit, all lights and electrical units go out. I also noticed there is a three-light system over the cabin door. The cabin stewards can tell when you are in your room with your card in the slot, when you have left your room because there is no card in the slot, and when you have engaged the "do not disturb" button.
I’ll be going on my first cruise soon and I find these tips so useful. I travel frequently for my competitions, so many of these seemed like common sense but the unplugging electronics was new to me! I never do it at home so I’m going to have to write myself a note to remember. One thing I love doing when I’m traveling (and generally is forgotten) is treating the staff with kindness. Please, thank you and framing things in a question so it’s an option (I get they are super busy) is something I learned early will help get my needs heard as I’m disabled. Kindness travels faster than demands! Be kind!
I turn off the a.c when I open the balcony door. The most modern ships have a system in place that turns off the a.c in the cabin once you open the balcony door. Symphony of the seas is one of the ships with this feature.
1 huge tip if you're worried about water - filter water bottles! I got a brita one ages ago because I live in South Korea and the water here is potable but not drinkable. It means I can grab some water while at work, or if I go to a theme park or something I can fill it up and it tastes just fine! You obviously have to replace to filter every once in the while but it's super handy!
My last cruise was in Norway (Hurtigruten), and they specifically told us that the tap water was good to drink. I filled my water bottle from the tap every day and it was fine - tasted the same as bottled water I drink at home. On other cruises, I've filled my water bottle at the dispenser in the buffet. Sometimes they ask that you fill water bottles from a glass rather than directly from the dispenser in order to avoid cross contamination.
I don’t cruise but my wife does with her family. I found your channel and showed it to her. We watch them together and I always find them very interesting. Fsilone , .. lol I know I dint. But it is kind of interesting .if for whatever reason one day I do get on a crew ship I’m glad I know I had a heads up not to step out butt naked out of the shower Without being cautious about it. If I had not seen this and did go on a cruise ship I probably would’ve stepped out naked with a whole bunch of people looking at me with my luck ! Lol. I’m extremely idle minded right now .
@@mxsteveirish2633 Meh. Being seen naked by a foreigner that I don't know and will never see again once the vacay is over is no biggie ;) But I admit this is actually a lot of solid advice.
Stick with a booze cruise. Otherwise most cruises seem to schew toward families with a brood of preteen girls. After the first port of call all you can see and hear are screaming kids with braided hair at all hours of the day and night.
Booked my 1st cruise for my husband and I, with my sister for her 2nd. One thing she told me is that her steward wasn't taking his tip every day. Finally she told him, if there is money in this spot, this is meant for you to take for yourself, please take it. He then took the tip every day. It made me sad in a way, he was so afraid of being accused of stealing after finally being able to go back to work after the pandemic, he wasn't taking his tip. She hadn't thought of that until she talked to some of the spa staff about the workers on the ship. You'd be surprised about how little they actually make =( She also told me to make sure I bring plenty of small bills, just for tipping purposes.
I've never been remotely tempted to go on a cruise, and every so often someone says something about cruising that makes me feel even more secure in that decision. It's like a cheerless LaQuinta that moves to places that you could see more effectively on your own. The worst things aboit a LaQuinta and the worst things about an airport, put together for the low-low price of $1800 a week. Who the bleep is doing this?
Yep. Noise. Its my biggest bug bear... Like you, I travel A LOT mainly for work, and it really annoys me how inconsiderate some people can be in hotels and on planes etc. Luckily, I have never had a problem onboard ship.
@@Whoiskevinjones anybody with an ounce of intelligence wouldn't leave their shit in a cruise ship safe. Some people deserve to lose their money. I'm confident karma would side with me seeing whoever left their money in that safe is too stupid to have kept it.
It also helps to take a picture of your room before you settling in (with a time stamp) and also when you leave also take a picture of that minibar (alao with a time stamp) This will help you prove that you did not cause any damage or take anything from the minibar. as sometimes the cruise liners tend to lie.
Sitting here on a late Saturday night watching a video of what not to do in a cruise line cabin. Funny thing is, my ass isn't even going on a cruise or planning on one. 🤣🤣 but I still watched it.
It is SOOoo. Relaxing to sit on your Balcony and watch the sea and waves and watch out for dolphins. The fresh air relaxing and you can call for food to be delivered or go to buffet We miss cruising.
@1:48 we had a cruise ship pull in next to ours one time... when I went out on the balcony, it was like a peep show on the other ship. I can’t believe how many people walked around in from of the window 😲
Here’s a no no to avoid: don’t leave a big mess for your stateroom host. I was just on a back to back Disney Cruise and when the first leg ended the people in the cabin next to us, 6 kids and 3 adults, left a mess so big the host needed to bring in fans to air it out and change out all 3 mattresses because there was urine in them. It took him all day to get the room ready for the next leg, which is amazing since he had other rooms to get ready as well.
Disgusting. They could afford an expensive Disney cruise for the whole family, but couldn't be bothered to make preparations for their bed wetters. I feel bad for that poor cabin steward.
A few years back on a Royal Caribbean cruise, my neighbor was smoking on her balcony and I called security. I agree with you about not leaving a mess in the cabin.
As a yacht owner, and captain,Incant count the number of times,I’ve told guests..”Don’t put anything in the toilet that didn’t come out of you,Unlessnyou want to help me take apart, and fix the macerator pump!I also tell them an exception,is things Inhave put in the head for the purpose”Most people,I would even have on my boat will try and be responsible guests, but some can’t seem to help treating my 50’DeFever yacht' Ike a beachfront condo. Thanks for the video
I asked my cabin stewardess about some of the toiletries. She gave me a big bag of them. As for walking around stark bollocks naked, just pull the curtains first. Depending where and what kind of balcony you have depends what you can or be willing to do. Mine was on 6 deck on the QM2 which is just below the boat/main deck. Some no line sun bathing, open curtains but watch out for lifeboat drill! Depending which side my cabin was facing in port, sea view or land/other liner view, I'd go out topless if a sea view. No one saw anything. If they did, big deal.
I've been on 3 cruises and had all that information before we left to board the ship. Plus, we always has an inside cabin so no worries about the balcony issues.
#11 is the best. We had considerable in cabin recycling of cans and bottles on one cruise that had a tiny wastebasket and could only put them in one place and wish there was a recycling chute you find in some buildings. I know they often get abused by idiots not reading signs and being careful, but I also I think it would help if cruise lines can't reduce bringing so much on board. Start with a souvenir cup you can use in your cabin sink and at coffee stations. We tried to minimize housekeeping’s efforts out of mutual courtesy. One left out and hinted at by #2 exiting the bath naked and #7 noisy sex is your door locked by the deadbolt while you’re in it might be opened up not only by housekeeping or other staff, but by others in your group like your children old enough to be allowed to stay in another cabin. That was a surprise.
I haven't been cruising since '98....but have been enjoying all inclusives...I ALWAYS tidy my room before leaving it for the day...I never leave a mess...I hang up my clothes, neaten up shoe area...bathroom...but that is how I run as well at home...hate untidy/messy...tidying up your room ensures everything in its place, keeps your stuff safe, and makes it easier for the cleaning crew...you get a cleaner room too as sometimes the staff is instructed NOT to move personal items...but clean AROUND it....
The other problem with leaving a mess is that something could get caught up with what looks like garbage or caught up with the sheets and get accidentally picked up from the room and lost.
Never seen umbrellas supplied by a cruise line, perhaps in more upscale ships or cabins. Agree with you regarding the mini-bar. You could probably get a cheaper drink at one of the bars. Great tips for newer cruisers.
As a ships officer, I’d never go on a cruise. I’ve seen how the crew are treated. Most crew can’t afford to buy soap so you can imagine how easy infections are transferred. The engineering team is under manned and highly stressed and forced to falsify hours of rest.
SO TRUE staff are treated as slaves. had some nut job in local news saying she "was so happy working for a Disiney cruise ship as it was her dream job" i said hate to live your nightmares working 12 hour days 7 days a week for 9 months and if you think you can go ashore forget it
Yes, don’t put flushable wipes in the cruise ship toilet. It’s embarrassing and no fun when the toilet backs up and overflows into the bathroom. Ask me how I know!
one thing not mentioned that is at least frowned upon is taking food from the cafeteria back to your cabin to eat. You should order room service. I did it once and was told there was a danger of cross contamination...I am not sure if that is correct or even likely but I never did it again. Not all lines may have the same rule though. Worth checking before.
He forgot to say it is really frowned on to get drunk, dance into the drums and knock them round and forget your room number to get out of there and puking on everybody's shoes on the dance floor. It is frowned on into the next day as well! Big no-no! True Story
I used to work as a hotel housekeeper in a big tourist area. I really appreciate your last tip. I really hated it when guests trashed their room and left garbage everywhere. I've had people leave dirty diapers under the bed and one was stashed behind a headboard.
@@lindabingham394 ; Hi, it helps organise your excursion tickets, Princess Patter etc. The hooks are great for hanging up a washing line or your toiletries. Not necessary but a handy tip I picked up from someone else.
I live in FL and get lots of guests. I kept the little toiletry bottles from cruising and from hotels and keep them in a basket under the guest room sink. Guests who forgot things appreciated not having to buy bottles they couldn't take home. I never used them.
I really enjoyed the 11 tips, some are "common sense" my husband used to say! But as we have found out over the years not all people have that! I also agree about not leaving your cabin a total mess for others to pick-up after you.
I've seen the tip several places (probably even on this channel) that the last night on the ship if you use the safe put one of your shoes inside it, that way you HAVE to open it before you leave 🤣
I started putting my medications in the safe. They are expensive and I can't go without them if my cabin steward decided he'd like to try something. Granted, I've been on 12 cruises and I've never had anything stolen from my cabin.
I plan to going on Symphony of the Seas soon, and I've seen many videos of the ship and what's on board, but you give us info we really need. Cruise etiquette is very important too, cause I think I'm going to love this ship and want to come back. Thank you Gary....
You forgot to say NEVER throw anything in the water from your balcony! And no, “not making a mess” is not a “no-no”, it’s a yes-yes! Don’t leave a mess! 😂 (Remember a double negative equals a positive.) Good advice anyway all around. I never knew you couldn’t plug in a surge protector.
I've been on many many cruises and found it very informative I did not know about the electrical devices thank you so much for the informative video thumbs up.
I am currently on holiday in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and I cannot stop watching cruise videos. They are addictive. I have seen a few cruise ships (ie Bequia).
That wind tunnel effect you mention, by having the balcony door open and someone else coming through the entrance door, isn't only for ships. Years ago, a fellow traveller got her hand smashed in the entrance door at the oceanview hotel where we were staying, due to the wind tunnel effect. Sure put a damper on our fun with a necessary trip to the E.R., and healing time afterwards.
How the hell did I get here ?? I was watching a video on Andes Goat Herding, like every night and THIS popped up ! My “recommendations” usually include “Trombone and Tuba Repair”, “50 Recipes With Fruit Cocktail” and “Fun Rainy Day Crafts For Toddlers”. But THIS ?? Well, I’m not watching this more than 2-3 times !
A big no no for cruise ships....please dont put down carpets with big splotch designs which look like patches of mold or stains ! Guess i am the only one whose ocd went into overdrive seeing that carpet design ☹️
Another good vid, Gary! It never ceases to amaze me how there are those who don't consider these common sense tips, most of which are included in the rules of the ship (no open flames, etc). Good points all. One note worth mentioning is the Boy Scout rule of leaving your camp cleaner than how you found it. In my rule book, that's common courtesy.
Went on a beautiful Mediterranean cruise with my parents, my husband, our two daughters, my sister and her husband. I jokingly refer to it as our naked cruise. My folks had our daughters I was blow drying my hair naked and my husband was just getting out of the shower; our oldest came marching in with my dad. Lesson: just because you have a key you should knock first. My parents were next door to my sister. Mom knocked the door, no answer. So she peaked around the divider between the balconies. "Hey I just knocked, why didn't you answer." They were making love. My brother-in-law and my dad were both traumatize the rest of the trip.
I was on a Carnival Cruise and some young adults climbed out on top of the life boats which were suspended along side the ship in the middle of the night, while underway. I called Security immediately to report the situation and thankfully no one fell overboard. Apparently they weren't too smart.
We learned the balcony door lesson when my mother and sister insisted on keeping the door open. Steward came to let us know that all the neighboring cabins were freezing as the A/C system was working overtime to cool our cabin (Mexico cruise).
The leaving things plugged in while out, a lot of rooms still seem to require a card in a slot for the lights; Without that card it may even cut power to the outlets as well. I noticed that with my CPAP. We would come in, drop the card in the slot and the lights (and my cpap) would light up. This was on Regal Princess a few months ago, and that's with Princess moving over to the medallions where the rooms have a card left in there for the lights. I'm sure not all lines/ships have that feature, but one to be aware of, but it's something to be aware of... thinking you left your phone to recharge and it's not because someone pulled the card out of the slot
@@BeantownMrs Seasoned cruisers know about this (doesn't stop the stewards from doing their job and pulling it out when they go to leave. Just saying, some cruisers may be thinking they're leaving their dead device to charge, but when they go to leave and pull the card from the slot it kills power. The gift card idea is also good for the Safe, on lines that use card activated safes. If someone manages to gets hold of your room key, they wouldn't have access to the safe if you use a gift card.
Some years ago my wife and I started a long vacation with a cruise. Since we were going to rent an apartment in a couple of cities later in our trip, we brought along a nice butcher knife. The cruise line took custody of it and returned it to us at the end of the cruise.
Don't ever touch the minibar unless you are prepared to pay for the items because some are so over sensitive that jostling items or picking items up to investigate will cause instant charges you will be on the losing side to argue.

@@gizhou3034 In my 20s we had a bachelor AND bachelorette party. I stopped drinking at 3 a.m., I had to be at the semi-formal rehearsal dinner the next evening. My roommates did not. At 5 am, they noticed there was going to be the better parts of 3 fifths leftover, which they dibs breakfast, lunch and dinner. All 3 were consumed by 3 am the next morning. I worked on cruise ships…this guy is consistently correct in his videos! And, he is polite with his advice. If you are offended by anything he says, well, maybe YOU are the one who should consider a camping vacation in the wilderness…
After working with cruise ship guests for awhile, if I was ever asked to offer advice to future cruise guests, I would probably not be so polite…
Well done, sir! If you were on one of my ships, I would’ve given you all of the extra bonus perks that cruise staff reserve for the kindest guests…
Thanks ! Appreciate you watching and great to hear. Hopefully I am on one of the ships you are on soon 😀😀
What are the extra bonus perks?
What’s with the surge protector stuff though? That’s not common sense.
Could you share with us what those perks are?

We often tell the cabin steward not to clean the cabin every day. You dont really need it and it gives them a break x
Me 2!!😊🙋🏾♀️
@@vh6307
Same 😃!
me too
Yep!
That was a safe in my cabin? No wonder it did such a bad job heating up burritos.
Kirk T 😂😂
🤣
Lol honestly It probably does a better job of heating up burritos than keeping things safe.
you stole that comment from the cruise ship stories video
u killed it
Another tip about the minibar - You can ask to have the items removed. This especially helps when you have kids who can open it up.
Thanks!
Yes indeed! I hate the high charges as not worth it. Then more to put towards next cruise :-)

As someone who works in hospitality, whether you’re in a hotel or on a cruise or wherever, strip the bed and throw all the dirty linen and towels in the bathroom or bath tub before they come in to change your sheets, if you can. It saves housekeeping staff so much time and they’ll love you for it!
Make sure not to save them so much time that the operator can fire a couple of people.
We always use our towels to dry off counters etc and then put them in the shower. We also strip the sheets when we leave. That’s primarily to ensure they change them for the next guest
Yes!! Always strip the bed and gather used towels. AND LEAVE A TIP ON THE BED EVERY NIGHT!!
Probably wouldn’t hurt to give a little tip. I wonder how many people don’t but have no problem leaving it at a land-based hotel or restaurant.
I do this and people think I'm crazy. LOL
As long as they are battery operated ones.
Candles are illegal at sea.
Better option is thoes dollar pop lights with a sticky tape on the back.
Advertising as bed lights. Or night lights. About the size of your hand and very flat.
I bring a small flash light with me. That works just fine.
We always bring a very small LED flashlight each!!! Then if we get up during the night, we don't wake up our partner nor stumble over the furniture. The upside of an inside room is no sunlight sneaking in if we decide to sleep late!
Great idea, thanks..
Thank you for mentioning making an effort to not make extra work for the service staff! Being kind is always a good tip!
Thanks! I agree
I agree. We do that everywhere- hotels, restaurants.
Never hang a pirate flag from your balcony
Good one... should I ever find myself on a cruise, I'll definitely not hang a pirate flag. 🤔 (maybe)
Ohhh- I am SO GOING TO DO THAT!
oh sorry its not a pirate flag, its a flag for a football team.. the Raiders... lmao
Would be appropriate as you have fallen amongst pirates! No wonder ppl have given up on cruises!
Nooo! How will Captain Jack or Captain Morgan find me otherwise? Not that I would ever go on a cruise. Yuck.
Just pop the Do Not Disturb sign on the door before you get in the shower and the room steward will not go in. This works in hotels too.
Don't they have curtains or drapes to defy prying eyes?
Thing that drives me crazy is people who let there kids run up and down the hallways at all hours of the night! Seems to happen on most cruises.
You've got to be kidding me!
A trip wire works for me 😉
Are there adults only floors or cruises? I would never let my kids do this
Have been on several cruises and never experienced this issue.
Heck it happens in hotels
Took an old girlfriend on a cruise and our first stop as the ship had docked, I opened the curtains and she was awed at the view of the island. Well when we docked at our second island, she jumped out of bed naked and threw open the curtains there were tourists from another ship walking down the dock right next to the window. She yelled at me for not telling her about the people and I said “ Well you were the one who jumped out of bed and opened the curtains “ lol 😂 Still a laugh today !!!
That's hilarious 😂 thanks for sharing .
To avoid minibar problems, ask your steward to clear it out on the first day.
Mary Munarin ; Good idea.
Great tip
Bring along an non-insulated water bottle along with an insulated one and use the non-insulated one to chill water in the mini-bar for drinking. Ship water is made by desalination, once cold it’s great.
Don't go on a trip and save even more and you won't have to memorise the list of no-no's
As someone who has never been on a cruise, my question is: are you allowed to put your own stuff in the minibar fridge? This may be a stupid question; we are thinking about doing a cruise and we have relatives that need to keep their meds cool.
Rule #1: Don't be an idiot.
Rule #2: Don't be a pig.

Unless, of course, your shipmate
leaves their key in the slot...
Fun fact: ANY card will work in that slot.
How exciting for you
I was wondering if you could do that. I hate ac most of the time, and would much prefer an open window.
Thanks for the tip I love this idea
I could never drink tap water. Never.
Who watched this whole video knowing you wont ever go on a cruise ship haha

Stick with a booze cruise. Otherwise most cruises seem to schew toward families with a brood of preteen girls. After the first port of call all you can see and hear are screaming kids with braided hair at all hours of the day and night.
I felt the same way until I actually went on a cruise. But do stick to booze cruises if you don’t want irritating kids or old kill joys around you
You don't know what you are missing. From a seasoned cruiser , I also thought like you and was surprised cruise every time now.
Don’t go on a ship that looks like an apartment block, find one that looks like a ship.
Totally agree. Those huge ships do not look very appealing.
Some people like to have fun but u can enjoy ur retirement home on the seas that's fine
I did my first cruise I was clambering up and down metal stairs on the outside of the decks. Best trip of my life
I’d say most look like ships except for the big Royal Caribbean and Carnival ones.
Wait why
That’s because you’re supposed to tip all at once. Most do last day.
When you look to book your cabin find out where the bars are located in relation to your cabin. They have their live music until 2am.
Good to hear from another noise obsessive :-)
It's almost as though travelling for work and cruising are literal opposites...
Use earplugs while others smash like a star in the next stateroom.
The reason to deny your neighbors the pleasure was the lack of an invitation.
So glad that I have a Super Yacht
Thank GOD I’ve never had a run in with noisy people in hotels or airplanes... I feel like I’ll dread the day that I do have a problem with that though
I once found $150 in the safe behind the door when opening. Was a pretty nice day. Was about 3 days into the trip at that point.
I found a handful of coins in the safe in the U.K. once. Nowhere near $150 though!
Anyone with an ounce of integrity would have turned in that money. The cruise line would have returned it to the previous occupant.

That would explain this being included in the video...you should watch it some time!!
Douglas Freer parents ought to bring rubber sheets or diaper their older kids if they still wet the bed at night. Gross!
mindyschocolate sad thing is the adults here were always drunk so the urine might not have just been from the kids.
Disgusting. They could afford an expensive Disney cruise for the whole family, but couldn't be bothered to make preparations for their bed wetters. I feel bad for that poor cabin steward.
9 people in a DCL stateroom? Maximum is 5.

Thanks for sharing this! Love QM2!
I've been on 3 cruises and had all that information before we left to board the ship. Plus, we always has an inside cabin so no worries about the balcony issues.
Is that why you're here, to brag?
Look @ this, then, as a friendly reminder. 👍
And of course, don't repaint the walls. I think that is a no-no too! ;-)

Yes, don’t put flushable wipes in the cruise ship toilet. It’s embarrassing and no fun when the toilet backs up and overflows into the bathroom. Ask me how I know!
Flushable wipes should never be flushed anyway, land or sea. They create havoc on all systems.
one thing not mentioned that is at least frowned upon is taking food from the cafeteria back to your cabin to eat.
Big no-no! True Story
I wanna meet you.
I used to work as a hotel housekeeper in a big tourist area. I really appreciate your last tip. I really hated it when guests trashed their room and left garbage everywhere. I've had people leave dirty diapers under the bed and one was stashed behind a headboard.
Ewe
We often see dirty diapers in parking lots also. Some people really are worse than pigs.
Basically do not go into your cabin when you get on the ship camp out on the deck
I purchased magnetic hooks as well as fridge magnets. Keep the cabin tidy and utilises walls to minimise clutter.
They are very useful!

Call and have them remove the mini-bar. It gives you more room plus avoids an accidental removal and charge of an item.
@Mulga Bill it's in the fridge. So once they remove it, you can fill it with your own sodas &/or snacks
@Mulga Bill YW. I didn't know the first time myself and grabbed a water-BOOM $5 LOL
I've seen the tip several places (probably even on this channel) that the last night on the ship if you use the safe put one of your shoes inside it, that way you HAVE to open it before you leave 🤣
He's a bundle of joy
I started putting my medications in the safe. They are expensive and I can't go without them if my cabin steward decided he'd like to try something. Granted, I've been on 12 cruises and I've never had anything stolen from my cabin.
I also secure my medications in the safe as well as cords.
I plan to going on Symphony of the Seas soon, and I've seen many videos of the ship and what's on board, but you give us info we really need. Cruise etiquette is very important too, cause I think I'm going to love this ship and want to come back. Thank you Gary....

Good advice anyway all around.
I’ve been on numerous cruises with a Balcony and they allowed smoking and even supplied an ashtray!
Yes, I’ve smoked on the balcony before and never heard anything about it. But that was over 5 years ago.
That would be horrific for for the people allergic to smoke and/or asthma if they were your neighbors say behind you. It's just interesting

One BIG no no. Do not sleep in the bed, it makes the cabin crews job a lot harder if you do. lol
Lol, this guy is 50% giving good advice, 50% cruise company butt kisser.
Do not sleep in YOUR BED! Check the bar or sundeck for possible candidates!
A big no no for cruise ships....please dont put down carpets with big splotch designs which look like patches of mold or stains ! Guess i am the only one whose ocd went into overdrive seeing that carpet design ☹️
i thought that too; thought he was showing us examples of piggy behaviour.
I thought someone had shaved their large, shaggy dog.
Very good to know! I would think that throwing food off of and feeding gulls from balconies would also be one of the ‘no nose’, too!
Thanks! Like that rule 😀
I'll do that when I'm not paying thousands for a service.
@Katie Rae😂
I’ll be tidy. I ain’t cleanin’!!
Whats a camp cleaner ?
10:26 OMG! I always bring a picture of yarn when I cruise! Too funny!
These are very good tips. I went cruising with an old flame once. I won't reveal if it was ever a naked flame.
:-) :-)

Would there be any point in doing it any other way?
@@lawrencewright2816 At my age sadly the flame has long been extinguished. There is a slight flicker at the memories. LOL!!!

At my age, the flame has diminished, but it’s still there.
I still love the sight of a cooperative naked female body.
I believe that Princess allows vaping in the cabins but not on the balcony.
Only allowed at Staterooms and permitted smoking areas. And of course not on balconies.
I was on a Carnival Cruise and some young adults climbed out on top of the life boats which were suspended along side the ship in the middle of the night, while underway. I called Security immediately to report the situation and thankfully no one fell overboard. Apparently they weren't too smart.
Did they get kicked off the ship?
@@Muffynbear-bs7fh No, just spoken to.
I, for one, will never go on a cruise...but I love this guy.
I use an old gift card to put in the slot.
@@717dash_cam If someone already has your room key, a gift card isn't going to stop them.
It's not about someone else going in cabin. It's about if the cards taken out, the phone will stop charging?
Some years ago my wife and I started a long vacation with a cruise. Since we were going to rent an apartment in a couple of cities later in our trip, we brought along a nice butcher knife. The cruise line took custody of it and returned it to us at the end of the cruise.
My take away is to leave my flamethrower at home. Thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately yes 🤔🤔🤔😂
Guess this rules out the napalm too.
They still let me take my chainsaw on board as long as I use their fuel.

@@im1who84u Oh my god that image tho! 😂😂😂😂😂
Don't ever touch the minibar unless you are prepared to pay for the items because some are so over sensitive that jostling items or picking items up to investigate will cause instant charges you will be on the losing side to argue.
Never been on cruise but ... Great video. Rule 7 and Rule 11 not only apply to cruise ships, but everywhere all the time. Sorry you had to remind some people to keep their noise down and not make a mess er cleanup after they create a mess.
