I know it has been a while and I apologize for the delay in responding. Thank you for your comment. Although Reading was my "Home" track, I spent many Saturday nights in the 70s at Flemington as a member of Ronnie Guinther's pit crew. If you like Flemington action, check out my Nazareth and Flemington sample clip.
@@concepts1157 Were there many drivers in the 70s that raced both Reading and Flemington? I know Chamberlain and Brightbill did some any others? And it seemed from looking thru old results that Nazareth guys generally raced at Middletown? Did the tracks have slightly different rules?
@@jamiecrawford8133 Glenn Fitzcharles, Freddy Adam, Red Coffin, Donnie Kreitz and my friend Ronnie Guinther ran both Flemington and Reading for at least part of a couple seasons. Fitzcharles adapted real quick to the tricky square that was Flemington. There were a few more that made occasional appearances.
My Uncle, who I believe raced there, somehow secured two complete seats, from this speedway and are displayed proudly in his home next to his large trophy display in his home. He is now 98 years old. And he attended 70 CONSECUITVE Indianapolis 500 races.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Thank you for the comment. All comments are greatly appreciated! It was a sad day indeed when that track went away. I spent every Friday and Sunday at the track starting in the 1950s until the end with just a few exceptions. No track will ever be able to duplicate the same excitement that Reading did.
@@concepts1157 Did Reading run Friday and Sunday throughout the entire Lindy Vicari promotion era? Weren't there some years in the 1970s when they ran big blocks Frodays and small cubic inch limit like 340 modifieds on Sundays. Did their big names change engines and usually run both nights?
@@jamiecrawford8133 Reading started running additionally on Sundays with the modifieds starting in 1967. They did run some mid-week races with the small blocks (sportsman) in the 78-79 era. Many of the drivers and cars that ran those mid-week races were from Grandview and other tracks that ran the sportsman division. I don't remember if any of the modified drivers participated or not. I had stopped attending the races at Reading in 1977 for a number of reasons. I only attended a few of the mid-week races in 77 and the final Daniel Boone 200 in 78. I did not attend any of the races in 1979. There were some things that took place that I believed at the time made the racing at Reading not fun or enjoyable for me anymore. Prior to that I had spent nearly every Friday night and many Sundays there as well from the late 1950's until late in 1976. I was a huge Al Tasnady fan starting in 1963 and even used to sit behind the Tas fan club banner for many years until he retired in '72. I was then a part of Ronnie Guinther's pit crew from 1972 until he quit racing in 1976 doing the lettering on all of his cars. After he quit, like I said a lot happened and I didn't go back to the track except for those few races that I mentioned, even though I lived less than 5 miles from the track. As a matter of fact, I didn't attend any local races at all until just recently in 2018 when I went to Port Royal (2.5 hours from my home) for one race. I apologize for the long-winded reply.

Thankfully I was not there that night. Even though I attended many races at the Fairgrounds, I only witnessed 2 fatalities. It is always a sad time when that happened. The second one I witnessed was the last time I attended a modified race in person and that was back in 1978. I still liked racing, just lost interest in attending in person. Thanks for watching the clip and commenting!
Brings back very fond memories of the 70s going to Flemington Speedway.
So sad to hear that these tracks are gone. Thanks for the memories.....
