    I drive on I-65 quite often and you can still see a path of tree damage from where the tornado crossed near the Blount Springs exit.

    10:54 (the vertical looking thing)-- I would not doubt if that very thin cloud was a very small tornado .... on the ground....maybe not. If it was...only on the ground seconds to minutes.

    Because James Spann is one of a kind. I say that literally. He goes on ustream and live on TV and will stay live until any tornado threat has passed. He knows every tiny town and even dirt roads all over his viewing market. He's one of the top mets in the country for his relentless work. That man will stay up 2 days straight if he has to.

    Remember calling relative who lives in Jacksonville, she was in Ohattchee visiting, told her to get out and EAST, she had no idea, but she believed me and left. About 30 minutes later her friend and two others were gone, she was saved, I felt very happy to have let her know and James Spann was THE REASON !!!!!
    Was watching him online, Thank Goodness !!!!
    Even nailed a Norfolk Southern Double-stack train near the depot.

    This is insane, just chaos. James Spann and his crew did an amazing job covering this, and his absolute knowledge of those areas in Alabama is incredible.

      It was Amazing. Most "outbreaks" are a quarter this one and this one covered from Tennessee to almost the Gulf of Mexico, almost the entire state! On most outbreaks, you can quickly get help from neighboring cities and counties but on this day, there was no help coming so from 3:40 AM in the morning to long after midnight Alabama was truly on it's on because the entire state had been paralyzed ! After watching new Orleans after rita, where the inhabitants wouldn't lift a finger to help the hundreds of Alabamians who came to help. Disgusting. During the Super outbreak of 20ll , Alabama men could be seen cutting trees everywhere in an effort to clear the streets for ambulances and other vehicles, in between vicious,killer torornadoes tornadoes! 62 I am so proud of my state of Alabama!

    The Joplin tornado was caught on a news stream by kns 4 but only for minutes while it was ripping through town. This was due to the fact that this event was not a part of outbreak and it form so quickly that no one had a clue till it was too late. It was a worst case scenario; the thing began as a multi vortex twister into a mile wide EF 5 monster within about 50 seconds..... Unreal

    I cannot *magine* what it must have been like to be in northern and north central Alabama that day with tornadoes -- *severe* tornadoes, at that -- practically everywhere in the area! What a forecasting nightmare -- and the feeling of helplessness people in Alabama must have had with all these tornadoes all around them!

    Joplin was a single, mile-wide, EF5 tornado which was not "forcasted" days ahead of time like the Alabama outbreak of 4/27/11 (taking nothing away from this TV coverage,which is outstanding). The Joplin tornado was so violent and large that anyone (except a couple of storm-chasers) close enough to film it were too close to escape it.
    God bless all those people in Joplin, Missouri and Alabama who suffered so much on those dreadful days.

      Yeah, Joplin was pretty bad too. I wish we had only a couple of tornadoes instead of 62, mostly killer tornadoes but mother nature does what she wants no matter what us little piss aints want to do.

      I think Alabama had only 3 OR 4 EF5 tornadoes that day. The Wicked Tuscaloosa behemoth and The Charlie Manson of tornadoes in DeKalb County Alabama. 35 people went to bed, but never awoke and hardly any one knew it till the next morning. Plus Phil Campbell and Hackelberg. Compared to Joplin's 1 but Joplin had it much worse! 😏 😃 3 or 4 doesn't sound so bad 🤔 Thanks to the Lord, Many more destructive tornadoes were off target just enough to save thousands more lives!

    Engineers ruled that there was no EF5 damage in Joplin tornado and a vast majority of the damage was EF2. For the record.

      So flattened and decimated homes is EF2 damage? You must have problems comprehending this...

    • @ronyan1
      @ronyan1 10 років тому

      Just look at the NOAA survey from Springfield MO. There is absolutely no chance an EF2 can produce the type of damage that was observed on the ground.

    • @jayjohnson6411
      @jayjohnson6411 9 років тому

      kperk1959 The NWS in Springfield, MO said that only a very small section of EF5 damage was found. Also, the EF5 rating was helped by " non-structural instances of damage, such as removal of manhole covers,
      pavement, concrete porches, driveways, and parking stops, and the
      presence of wind-rowed debris."

    70s band. 38 special came to the rescue of the 70s following the death of Elvis Presley and the plane crash of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Donnie and the boys of 38 Special filled the gap long Enough for the remaining members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, to regroup and become a force again along with Charlie Daniels, Molly Hatchet, Zz Top, the allmans, ARS, and manny more!
