The same goes for the sister, who would be younger still. It would also appease the mob, that really would just want to vent out their anger on nobles any chance they'd get (not caring to think about it further). A much more suitable punishment would have been to strip those two of their title (their house would have died anyways) and force them to become indentured servants to their house. Doing only the worst jobs for like a decade to earn their freedom. It should be obvious to any sane mature adult that they would have been very vulnerable to manipulation, and don't have much of a choice to defy.
