Just some of the most stunning playing I have ever heard. Everything was so crisp, with character, and beautiful handling of different voices, especially in the slower sections. Felt like I was listening to an orchestra. Amazing.
I beg you, please release the transcription! Plenty of commenters already said they'd buy it, I would be among them! I know it's probably a lot of hard work, I'm just going to be one more person to assure you that it will make a lot of us happy. In any case, thank you so much for this gorgeous arrangement!
I wonder if you have any affinity for GERSWIN'S piano rolls. He was THE preeminent studmuffin on the piano! The piece that you so so so masterfully rendered, though, transcends the instrument. It's LAO TSU talking to LINCOLN, PLATO TO JESUS... DEAR GOD! MY panty hose are torn to bits! Forgive the hyperbole, and THANK YOU!
One of the most beautiful peices of music I've ever listened to. The prologue was very well done and played with so much enthusiasm. Then I love how all the sudden Somewhere is played with so much passion. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I can't wait till the sheet music comes out for this! Well done!
There is something about piano music that speaks to my soul. Especially the music from WSS. A couple of times your playing brought tears to my eyes. You are so talented.
I‘m so enthusiastic about this transcription and your playing. It was surely a lot of work to learn this piece. I can not wait for this arrangement being published! I think, a lot of pianists will be so thankful and happy to play this piece. Thanks a lot for this wonderful and great recording! Bravo :)
Thank you Maria! I am first trying to sort out the legal side of things, before I set out to transcribing it and making it available for people to buy. It seems it might take a while, but I'm working towards it
Would love to purchase the sheet music for this - Please let us know when you make it available! Your transcription and performance are wonderful: impeccably performed and capturing the spirit so well
Bravo maestro!! Bernstein would be pleased beyond measure to hear this performance of his work! Tempo, touch, technique, and talent! You have it all! Never stop playing
Alfredo...thank you for this...such sensitivity and musicianship...simply the best version of this work on piano anywhere. You indeed capture Bernstein's swagger, heart and genius. Well done indeed. Best - BC
Simply brillant. I remember being at Pleyel in 2012 and attending a concert where the Symphonic Dances were featured : I vividly recall the Finale where Maria's "I Have a Love" ends the piece. This transcription brings me right back.
Alfredo - I never tire of hearing you play this - love your interpretation and working on it now. YOU are my hero. Thank you!! Never stop playing! You are a gift to us all!
Excellent! Everything was perfect - tempo, articulations, rhythm, melody. I listen to this piece 3-4 times a year, have heard many different interpretations, and was absolutely delighted with your performance!
Inspirational playing and so timely. I found a solo transcription through Musescore which is close to your own rendition - a little thinner/brighter/easier in registration in places, but I've yet to compare the places where your registers are different and therefore quite likely closer to those of the original orchestral score. I love everything you do with this and will be referencing your work as I learn this. Thanks again Alfredo.
What an amazing rendition of a stunning arrangement of a wonderful piece!! It's been a joy to spend this morning finding out about who you are and what you do. An inspiration - thank you! (WG, pianist/composer, Auckland, New Zealand)
Hello, your playing is absolutely wonderful! I was wondering if it would be all right if I used it as a soundtrack in a video I’m making about west side story! I’d be happy to pay you. Thanks so much
When I was a kid my high school did this play. The part where Tony was carried off was played on piano only just like this. Everyone moved off stage slowly so the piano part was going on over and over again. Ive always been looking for an extended version where the part was played a bunch of times before that last little section where the notes chang key. Sad depressing melody I love it
Muy buena transcripción (aprendida desde el score! Que interesante!) Y muy buena interpretación!! Impresionante!!! Que buen audio y video además!!! Muchas felicitaciones!!!! ;)
Bravo! I really love these pieces and you play them excellently. So much character and clarity. Your fluid tempo really captures the narrative and theatric quality of the music!
@@AlfredoOvalles Hello Alfredo, thrilled by your performance, congratulations. Having had any time in the past year to put together and edit those wonderful sketches ? Did you start from Boosey & Hawkes Hal Leonard's transcription, or from scratch ? Thanks !
Please keep the camera on your hands and the keys! No need for the constant cutting away to other angles -- it just detracts from our involvement. Great arrangement and performance!
This is an amazing composition - you must get it written down and published ! I for one would love to buy and play it I compose too and I get a music student to do the writing for me - all I do is send him the keyboard footage and sound recording and he does the rest ! I can send you his details if you are interested ?
@@AlfredoOvalles As I listen ... Not EVEN thinking I could do it. I am currently working on Rhapsody in Blue ... Your composition is MUCH more difficult. GREAT WORK!!!

I couldn’t agree more....just stunning
That work in "Cool", awesome. I couldn't help but add swing hats with my mouth.
Surely Bernstein would have been favourably impressed with this rendition!
BRAVOOOOOO!!!Cannot wait to get sheet!!!

Follows the symphonic version pretty closely.

Dear Alfredo, would you mind sharing with me the score of this Symphonic Dances. I would appreciate this a lot. Thank you in advance. Boris
Wonderful!!!
Where can I get the sheet music?
Can I buy the music sheet ?
Its wonderful! Which sheet music did you use? :) I wanna play it, too.
I used the orchestral score and a little bit of John Musto's version for two pianos here and there. But mostly I learnt it from the orchestral one

Does anyone have the sheet music for this?
I dont find the Sheets for this piece for ONE piano. Where can I buy the sheets?
I don't have any sheets for solo piano. I learned it from the orchestral score
