    im a redhead. i find the word ginger a term of encouragement. I am proud of my hair, and im also proud of the fact that my haircolor is one of the rarest hair colors in the world. I am proud of who i am. Nothing can change that. ever.

    I consider myself a boring looking brown-haired/brown-eyed girl so to see these gorgeous girls with red hair and light eyes is simply beautiful.

    I have heard mainly older people in Ireland referring to red haired people as "a ginger" as in their hair colour being part of what the person is,just like I am a brunette.Its not the case of someone going over to a red haired person and calling him or her 'ginger' instead of his or her name.I accept your answer to my question which a second answer to my question which is a different opinion from the first answer to my question.

    I am a dutch and very proud to be a "red haid".Not when I was young .I was called names most of the times .circa 20 times a day and ashamed and made believed I was the ugliest person on earth.I prayed for black hair..After having 2 red children I prayed if my third would be another color hair.Curly dark blond is my youngest daughter.Now I am 58 and sins 15 years I grew my hair long and get compliments from many .Now since circa 15 yaers I do Love my red hair .I wouldnt change it for the world.

    Oh yeah. I believe there are people that do pick on others for jealously reasons in that department, which I find is kind of rediculous because I believe we all have something special about us to offer, which makes us all unique and I just think we should appreciate it and learn to love who we are. Everyone is beautiful in their own way. If we all looked alike, this world would be a borning unhappy place.

    I find red hair quite interesting. In my country (Sweden) we have many people with blonde hair but only a few people with red hair but when i visited Ireland i saw many men and women with red hair. Genetics are a funny thing :). Different countries have different looks in terms of hair colour even when the countries are close to each other.

    Being called a ginger never offended me. I dont mind it actually. Of course Ive been called carrot top and just took it as a friendly nick name. It never offended me. i guess being proud of my red hair, Im not easily offended by anything directed towards it because I love it. Been called fire crotch as well, but it seemed more to me like a curiostiy thing, and that's how I took it. even that didnt bother me.

    Is the word "ginger" an insult to red haired people?

  • @ThePearlofeire
    @ThePearlofeire 12 років тому

    Okay I see that you not offended by the silly things that people say which is a good thing.
    I always think it is mean when people pick on each other because of appearences.But mainly there could be a jealousy of read hair with people who bully people because they have red hair.

    Why are redheads called "gingers"?? Ginger is a greenish-white colour. Shouldn't they be called "cinnamons" instead?
