You know, you've got a great voice for these instructional videos! Coupled with the excellent camera work and the clear and concise dialogue, yours are among my favourite UA-cam places to check out when I want to try something new or refresh something that's gotten rusty. There's no time wasted with filler chat and I trust your knowledge. Thanks for doing these!
At 3:24 I swear you were playing with us Tim and making a Christmas ornament!
Wouldn't look bad on a small Christmas tree.
Makes me wish I was fishing for salmon or steelhead! Great instructions as usual, keep up the great work, I love your content.
That is one nice looking fly there Tim. I for one am definitely going to give it a try. Thank you for another one dude.
New Brunswick! My home town, I miss the fishing there.
Great video as always!
Stunning fly. All good and great flies are basically simpler rather than complex. My humble view at least. :-)
Another good video TIM!
So Awesome so professional keep up the great work 👍👍👍👌
I dare anyone to tie up a more perfectly-proportioned example of this pattern - can't be done!
Tbh, I've always balked at hair-stackers because they make flies look stamped-out and mechanical, to my eye. But wow. This IS super fine!
And I love those Daiichi hooks but I'm wondering why I can't just buy barbless salmon irons. It seems almost akin to paying extra for lead-free gas.

Very nice fly. Excellent video well presented.
Beautiful tie Tim! Is there any practical reason why you brought the tag ends of the green and red back over the wraps?
He answers that question after finishing the green wraps.
@@seanbeck1370 Ahhh, thank you. I did hear him say that, but I didn't catch exactly what he meant until watching it again.
@@SavageFlies yeah I have to go back through his videos sometimes for things like this!
Not with glo brite
Changing up the colours could produce some nice coho or pink salmon flies.
Green Undertaker!?
Good work. For trout is so good.

Hi,from Spain,One question, if I didn't have squirrel hair, which one would you recommend, if possible? Arctic fox?Deer hair?Evidently,if it does not influence the swimming of the fly.Nice video and beautiful fly...master!!👍👏👏👉👉Best regards
Squirrel tail hair being stiff and solid helps support the hook, fox hair is too soft, deer body hair would not be suitable but the solid ends of bucktail hair might work OK.
The best is what Warren Duncan used period,.! The hair from the mask( face)
of Black Bear.+ The thread
Grips the moderately stiff hair well. The wing is not
Intended to breathe ,it is
Meant to create form(shape), as are most

Salmon Hairwing Flies!
Nice elegant pattern
I think you should make a separate video how to create a generic tag, based on the technique in this video. Tons of people just make a tag by wrapping, and apply uv resin to secure it. But that eliminates the shine of the floss. Thanks!
Warren Duncan is originator of the tag technique
Two things Warren would not have done as I own literally boxes of his flies and knew him personally along with been to his shop many times 1. wing is too long in this case would have never gone past tag 2.the anti slip technique would not have been necessary on glo brite at the time all of our floss was bought Hunters in Mass..great place I miss it as Bill Hunter waa a great Salmon Angler himself and Warren tied 100s of dozen of flies for them..over all I beleive in your hook your style..nice fly but definetley not as Dunc would have tied it
Though I'm glad to know exactly how Warren did it, it feels important to acknowledge that Flagler never claims to offer us carbon copy recreations of the patterns in his tutorials.
Great video and fly!
What’s the container/dispenser that you put Sally’s in? And how well does it keep in that container? Does it clog up in that tip?
Thanks
The caps for those containers have a thin long needle on them, which goes inside the hollow applicator needle, to keep that from happening.
Tom won :) But yours looks beautiful too Tim!!

That’s a good looking fly! Any reason you didn’t mash the barb? You usually do, so I’m just curious as to why you didn’t on this one.
Maybe because it's a long shanked hook, and more easy for a fish to shake off of. I've never been a barb-masher, but I also fish for keeps (always with steelhead, and sometimes with regular trout)
Artistic license
👍👍👍
I was able you read some of your above post without cheating, so my Russian Language Study is coming along, Not all of it but Fishing and fish. Nice to know that our friends from the East love to fish as we do. Also, I subscribed. I have not ice fished in ages. But I did wet a fly line today, cold day but not like Russia this time of year. I think I could get my head around doing some Ice fishing in your part of the world. It would be a trip of trips.
@@GeorgeSemel Hello! come fishing to us in Siberia! we are waiting for a visit!
There's a fly jig that's called a crappie special that's tied on a number 12 hook and it's chartreuse. can you tie that?
