Would much rather have a remastered of the first 2 games to get people who haven't played the original games into it then after that make a Skylanders 7
Ideally, I'd like a collection of the first three games remastered with all the figures digitally unlocked by playing (you can optionally use your old figures), then the second three games releasing a year or two later with the same mechanic for figures, then if the hype for the games did well, make a new installment with new physical figures now that you have a fanbase built up that would like to collect the figures again
@@jamiwer85 correct but without knowing if the current game industry wants to spend more money on figures, it is a good way to test the waters to see if people still want skylanders if you truly want to only use figures, just play the original games and as I said, id ideally like for the remasters i described to allow portal functionality as an option
@@MajikButton it would, thats why i think characters should just be unlocked along with gameplay for instance replaced soul gems with character unlocks
@@jumbology honestly even tho me and my family are broke af id much rather toys to life if it isnt TOO expensive its part of the whole experience and the gameplay would also have to be tailored to people getting more characters as they progress the game
Here's how I'd do it: 1. Develop and release Spyro 4 before anything else. 2. Remaster the first two games (Spyro's Adventure and Giants) for modern hardware. Maybe the 3DS versions could come as paid DLC? 3. Include the toys-to-life mechanics, but make them optional. Players can use the toys to play the game, including any figures they have in their collection, but they can also just use a digital library instead and unlock characters by collecting the Soul Gems scattered throughout the levels. 3.5. Addressing the problem with collecting, they can release some new figures alongside the old ones, so veteran players can collect new figures alongside the old ones. I mean, imagine if they give figures to the Lost Islands variants (Buddy Wrecking Ball, Admiral Thumpback, Surfer Slam Bam, etc.)! 4. Release Skylanders 7 a few years later if sales and reception are positive, using similar features as the SSA+SG remasters.
I would much rather them make it to where you can buy the characters in a digital shop, or buy them irl, that whole toy things seems way too 10 years ago now in 2024
I saw the thumbnail and I audibly said YES!!!! Personally I think they should go down the crash/spyro route, give us a remaster of the first 3/4 games to bring in a new audience and bring back old fans, before making a skylanders 7. While they shouldn’t bring back the toys and portals, old ones HAVE to be supported. Each Skylander could be unlocked via their soul gem, but you still start with the starter pack ones. I’ve played through giants on nightmare mode like this and it’s honestly the most fun I’ve had playing skylanders in a long time.
I’ve always had the soul gem idea, I love it, and I think it’s such a good idea, and for example with trap team or superchargers or imaginators, trap masters could unlock traps, or give the gold a purpose, or be in trap master gates, superchargers, certain vehicle zones could unlock new vehicles, or they could go with their supercharger counterparts soul gem, imaginators, each soul gem for a type of imaginators could unlock that variant, with more crystals at the same time, with the sensei type being also added. Dunno why I’ve written an essay but it’d be cool I think
@@TheOnlyCreatch I always thought it would be a cool idea if the Trap Masters contained the villains inside of their Traptanium weapons, that way each Trap Master could bring one villain with them.
Absolutely perfect explanation video! The pros and cons of each situation was detailed amazingly and made perfect sense, meaning whatever of the 3 outcomes happen, would be believable and just makes sense. Knocking it out of the park as usual! For me, I want a remaster. I always think a remaster builds love back for a franchise and then, if it's good or bad, it'll remind people of the older games and go from there. Medievil is one I kept in mind. It had a decent fanbase and when the remaster came out, people went back to play the original but the remaster wasn't talked much about as it was kind of meh Then you have the Spyro remaster. Overall better than the originals but you can easily play both and love them equally, no matter what side of the fanbase you are.
I guess the problem is that there has been to much figures in to less time of game releases in the past. Every Year 50+ new Skylanders was frustrating to collect, but i guess if there would be a new game every 2-3 years with 10-20 new figures, more people would be motivated to buy them all
If the games were released every 2-3 years then having more figures would be fine, but if they were released each year then less figures would be better
(1) I want a remaster of the first few games. (2) Make all the Skylanders games in one game, where you can choose any of the games to play. (3) Then I also want all the games to have PvP, since right now it only goes up to Giants and Swap Force.
here's my solution, make dedicated ports of the games for all modern platforms, not remakes, not remasters or anything like that just simply ports of the original games, have a menu button or just a dedicated button for swapping skylanders, give the player access to the starter pack characters as a base roster, that way tutorials stay relatively the same and have the soul gems within the levels unlock the characters rather than just a specific upgrade. whatever figure you get in one game can transfer over to the other game and that would keep the feel of collecting skylanders alive without requiring the need for figures, you could still be able to use them but they aren't a necessity and would become more of a novelty. there's obviously some things that would still need to change like the starter pack soul gems and stuff but you could honestly swap those out for access to the bonus levels, that way it still keeps them for the most part disconnected from the main game
As much as I like this idea, It’s still flawed in the way that you wouldn’t get the figures itself! At least to me, just hooking a character to a portal and seeing it appear was, and quite frankly still Is, magical! It would be a safer approach for sure, but again, old figures would skyrocket in price!
another thing to add to this, to give a reason to use your old figures, only the old figures would have access to the wow-pow abilities and the ability to swap paths and then give new ones to the characters that dont already have one. the wow-pow abilities themselves were already a bonus regardless
@@GU1LH3RMERANG unfortunately toys to life is a dead gimmick and trying to sell them is not as easy as it used to be, keeping things simple would be the better call and treating them like actual games would help people see parts of the games that was missed for the originals
This was so well edited man! Fully agree on all your points. It’s really a tough subject to answer… Would be a childhood dream come true to have a Skylanders 7, but at the same time a remaster would definitely be cool! Regardless, even if nothing ever happens, I’m sure the community will still thrive! Honestly the Skylanders community has been one of the most lively I’ve ever seen for franchises that hasn’t gotten content in 8 years, which really shows how much of an impact these games truly had! Anyways, great video dude, can’t wait to see more 👌
In my opinion, If they made a skylander 7 I think they should go with digital for all the new characters But give an option for the OG players to hook up an old portal to play with OG characters, But that's my opinion.
That idea makes sense in the long run, but I’m sure some people myself included would rather have physical characters figurines. I mean, that’s just the nostalgic way that we’ve been playing up to this point in time to suddenly go digital. I’m sure some wouldn’t mind but I’m sure others would, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
For me, remaster is the way to go! Imagine seeing the 15th anniversary of skylanders and the game being released, seeing the hype! Skylanders had a big impact in my life, and I’m sure to many others as well, so just getting to feel that magic again would be so… emotional!
I really want a remastered collection of all seven games with all sky landers digitally included in the games and a feature so you can play with all skylanders in all games like being able to play with the sensei’s in Spyro’s adventure. It would be cool if you can unlock the figures by playing the game you get all sensei’s when you complete the story of imaginators and then being able to play with them in any games you want.
I'm glad someone actually went out of their way to explain this logically/analytically, since most of the takes I hear online are just a very unlikely idealized Skylanders game that is best for the community. Personally, I think the most likely and logical release would be the remaster of Spyro's Adventure and Giants combined. As for figures, we can hope, but I feel that they would probably only sell DLC. There's no technological reason they can't allow for old figures though, so I really hope they do, but I understand that it would hurt their profits.
If there was a 7th Skylanders game which I would extremely love to see between the 3 opinions. It has to also be about people’s acceptance and heavily yet brutality honest opinions of Skylanders in the past few years and improve the problems people had with imaginators. If you have the old figures, they should work with the game. Also since the switch version costs heavy money, bring the games back just because I don’t want to pay 420+ for the game on switch. The story should take place many years after the 6th game and the story should make people sad that they forgot everything about Skylanders(just like the 2011 muppet movie did for a lot of people and it worked and made money)with returning characters
Most realistic output I think would be to get a remake of Spyros adventure within the next 2-3 years, I think this bc currently nostalgia is a big thing that companies are capitalising on, specifically the GameCube/Ps2/Xbox era. However in a few years we’ll be in the wii/Ps3/xbox 360 era of nostalgia. So it would make sense then to make a remake or Skylanders spyros adventure for modern consoles (next gen consoles if there out by then) and then eventually if the remake is successful jump into a skylanders 7. also i think that in this hypothetical remake we would see a mix of toys to life and digital, all 32 skylanders available in-game and you would start with spyro, gill grunt and trigger happy, and then unlock the other 29 with in-game currency, there would be one that you buy and one you earn, like how overwatch does it. along side this there would be legacy figures you could purchase in stores.
There is some truth to that, especially regarding Wii nostalgia, with the Mario Kart 8 BCP being the best example besides 3D All-Stars and the other Gamecube remasters (since Gamecube games were compatible on Wii)
I think that soul gems should play into how the characters are collected instead of paying for them in a remaster and we still have the option to scan the figures in for us who have the regular figures.
I find it sad how fast the community is dying. Almost no skytubers left. Even I left making skylanders videos a year ago. Maybe I should get back into it..
I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE BROUGHT UP THE ARGUMENT OF THE INCREASE IN RARITY! My dad is a figure collector, and we go to second-hand places that sell them and he always tells me NEVER to mention or ask for Skylanders because that will get people buying them and pumping the price like crazy. He runs this channel on here, and he knows about me and my skylanders, and he wants me to make a video about them with him. But he and I are afraid that it might have an impact on how people in my area look at Skylanders.
what if they make spyro adventure + giants with all the characters individually that you can pay with real money and if you have the real figures and a portal you can put them in and you’ll have them in game
A new Skylanders is only possible for me in combination with figures. Without figures it would not be the same for me and I would not be interested in it and would not buy it. I would rather put figures in the closet that I can look at, touch and play on, than to buy an online collection for 300 €
@@ajwisniewski133If a new Skylanders game ever comes out, which I hope it does, I would approach it differently from Toys for Bob's perspective. I would develop a game that offers more content, more chapters, mini-games and so on. I would follow SSA in terms of the number of figures. I would also give more time in terms of rotating a new title, two to maybe three years. Also in the sense that people have more time to buy the figures and play the game.
See the main problem I see with a new Skylanders is just the toys to life gimmick. Toys to life pretty much have died and Skylanders whole thing IS the toys. So yeah like you said they either bring them back and have all the old toys work with the new game or just have most characters as DLC
They should start off with Spyro and make characters unlocked with quests which would be cool if they didn’t want to revive toys to life which still has so much untapped potential
I think a remaster/remake should be in the right direction because after Imaginators failed as a Skylander game even though it did have some cool features and new Skylanders (especially with the doom Raiders now being Skylanders which was cool) it’s still performed very poorly.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if we ever got a remaster of the old ones or a seventh installment, I just want Skylanders to return *period!* However, I've decided to work on my idea for bringing back the franchise, but in a spinoff! So sit back and let me tell you about my Skylanders spinoff game. I call it: *Skylanders Eclipse* It is a spinoff that *solely* focuses on the dark and light elements. Why, well ever since they were introduced in Trap Team, Superchargers and Imaginators, they overall had the *LEAST* amount of skylanders! So, not only will my spinoff bring back the skylanders franchise, but also give the dark and light elements more collectional variety and love/attention! The roster will be 32 total (similar to the SSA roster, but also includes the "gimmick"landers) (16 each) and will consist of Eight Core Skylanders One Giant Two Swap Force (new swappabilites will be Gravitate and Rhythm) One Trap Master Two Minis One Supercharger One Sensei (Light Bazooker and Dark Quickshot) Here's the storyline: the main villainess is: *Empress Eclipta* she was once a standard Drow Witch who her and her Drow legion served under Lord Kaos! However, as Kaos failed to conquer Skylands, she then went off on her own to find another evil plan to rid the Skylanders! That's when she stumbled upon a book that contained eclipse magic. First, she started practicing solar magic, later on lunar magic. After her years of mastering eclipse magic, she then began her true intention: merging both the sun and the moon together in creating a total annular eclipse so powerful, it'll *eradicate* all of Skylands! I'm also bringing back PVP battle mode, Heroic Challenges, Swap Zones, race zones (excluding Land since it only associates with Fire, Earth, Tech and Undead), basically *everything* from the past six installments, but put in a dark and light standpoint. Lastly, Knight Mare, Knight Light, Spotlight, Blackout, Astroblast, Nightfall, Aurora, Starcast, Blaster Tron, and Hood Sickle will be playable in the game. So, what do you think? Please be honest.
As a long time fan from the very first games when they first came out watching the games grow into what they are today. I personally think you made all the correct points when making this video and I completely agree with you every last point you said
Skylanders was my childhood game series, and I also didn't know Spyro had his own series until around Trap Team (still haven't played an actual Spyro or Crash game yet). So I'm leaning towards a remaster, but I seriously doubt anything new will come from Skylanders even though I completely welcome a new game. For how the remaster would work, I would say the bundle approach where it would be Spyro's Adventure and Giants. And if it does well enough, put Swap Force and Trap Team in the next collection, and Super Chargers and Imaginators. OR all 6 games can be together, but 3-6 are DLC additional prices. There is a portal port for all skylanders you happen to already have, but there is an option to select your character (all would be digitally downloaded) for anyone new to the series that doesn't have the figures or wants to play a character they don't already have. I would play this if it ever got made, but I'm looking at why the games stopped at 6 and my parents refusing to buy me more of those toys. (I could probably buy a car with how many of them I have)
Yes Spyro has original trilogy (PS one originals and Reignited Trilogy). Then there’s Enter the Dragonfly, A Hero’s Tail and Shadow Legacy which are the other OG Spyro games. Then there’s the GBA games. Then the Legend of Spyro Trilogy which is the rebooted trilogy. Presume you wasn’t born around the time of these which is why you didn’t know about them
Honestly, they should first make a Remaster (or a Full on remake if they can) of the first 2 games, Add the option to unlock the original skylanders digitally (with maybe skylanders from future games as paid dlc) AND the option to use the old figures, THEN if it does really well, they can make a new game!
The digital or toys to life is easy Toys auto unlock, and they still have portal compatibility, but for newcomers, you just have them have the main four, then you unlock more as time goes on
I think the best gimmick idea would be to just bring back all the old ones from every game to a smaller extent and improve upon them in some way, like just releasing a couple giants/swappers etc and reintroducing trappable bosses
My idea is that if they're going to release a new game, it has to be multiplayer... Imagine a skylanders pvp game with toys to life where there is competitive gaming, that would be amazing
Here’s what I would do to bring Skylanders back. First I would make a game called Skylanders Resummoned that would be a remaster of all 6 of the original games for Ps5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch; but all the characters would be unlocked digitally through either the coin collection system, like how you would purchase upgrades, or when you unlock the soul gem for a certain character you get that character unlocked. This way old fans would come back for the nostalgia and it would bring in new fans who won’t be as hesitant to play because you won’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to get the full experience, and the starter pack characters and items would be what you start each game with plus your previous characters once you move forward to the other games. Not every game would be available to play right away and I would do a release slate like telltale games did with their games; and have spyros adventure be available when this game comes out, then a month or so later giants is released in an update and the same thing repeats for every game. This way the hype keeps on building and people don’t steamroll through all the previous games in a short period of time. I ideally would want them to go back and edit superchargers to actually have an explanation for Eon having a body of some sort, Kaos escaping his trap from trap team (which would be through that darkness character), a little more in depth with everything happened in between trap team and superchargers with Kaos taking over, and possibly changing the gimmick from vehicles to something completely different. The story would end with Kaos being defeated for good and sacrificing himself to defeat the darkness in a kind of if I can’t take over than no one else can kind of moment. Imaginators I would redo the entire story with a new villain but still with the creating characters gimmick. This new story would have none of the older skylanders as npcs and the whole creation of Skylands by mind magic, the brain could still be the villain but would more of a threat. After all of this Skylanders 7 would release (still digital with the characters as the toys to life function would no longer be required to play) following with this new continuity
I would like an SSA + GIANTS remaster that still uses the figures as 1. to support old characters and 2. it is what the sky landers franchise was built on and for SKYLANDERS 7 I would like a Lego Dimensions type of layout where instead of a new game a year they released new waves at a slower pace and to make getting the characters optional
When I stumbled upon this video, two thoughts crossed my mind. Firstly, I've been feeling a bit down lately, which has stirred up some nostalgic vibes. I'm yearning for the past. Secondly, there's just something appealing and relaxing about revisiting a game from my childhood. Games back then were much simpler compared to the intense, high-octane titles of today with their mind-blowing graphics. Don't get me wrong, those are cool too, but they're not what I'm in the mood for right now. I've replayed a few Mario games already, so now it's Skylanders' turn. Specifically, Skylanders Giants because that's the only Skylanders game I had and grew up with. It was the very first console game I EVER played. I played the first game with a friend, but I never got around to playing the others. So, I'm currently on the hunt for a Wii because I foolishly sold mine, and boy, do I regret it. I had quite the collection of Skylanders. Since I haven't played the other games and I'm not familiar with them, I might not be the best judge, but in my opinion, we should definitely get a remake of the first two games, blending the simplicity of the past with today's technology.
I've waned on my opinion whether or not a Skylanders game/remake should be made over time. Would I want it, buy it day 1 and many of the potential figures? absolutely. But realistically, I don't see it happening any time soon. Honestly, if the series is ever going to make a comeback, it's going to need to wait a bit longer for it to really hit that nostalgia sweet spot, where we have tons of fans much older than they where when the games came out. We've started to see it online with random posts talking about things people did or played as a kid, many of which sharing their experience with Skylanders and other Toy-to-Life series, but it's not nearly at it's peak yet. I'd also bet there is almost no chance the game will strictly be Toy-to-Life. A digital version of your Skylanders unlocking more in-game via collectables or using currency (such as the gold used to buy upgrades/items in shops) is more in line with what I'd think reasonable, but they could go the greedy route with buying each Skylander digitally like you could in Starlink: Battle for Atlas. That does open the door for possible figure compatibility, as that game also let you buy the figures to attach to your controller, but given the games success (or lack thereof) it seems less likely. Finally, we have arguably the biggest problem for our hypothetical, Toys For Bob departing from Activision and going Indie. If you've followed Toys For Bob over the last few years beyond Skylanders, you'd know it's been a bit hard to tell if they'd even still exist given how Activision had handled them for a time, shoving them into the pile of devs working on COD before letting them make another Crash spinoff. Hearing them go Indie was personally great, I love the games they've made and remastered so allowing them freedom to go all out in their ideas sounds great. Unfortunately, this means a Skylanders game is unlikely more than ever, at least under Toys For Bob. There's plenty of development teams Microsoft owns that could be set to work on a Skylander game, but losing the original developers isn't ideal if the idea was on the table. Still, Microsoft owns the rights to the franchise, and Toys For Bob could still be given the rights to make another game, it's just a bit more work to make it happen, which to Microsoft might be too much for such a niche series. However, the concept of a Dungeon Crawler/Action-Adventure game LIKE Skylanders isn't completely dead. The fact so many people are still attached to the Skylanders Series proves the gameplay and concept stuck with people. We could see Toys For Bob make another game of similar style (just without the Toy-to-Life part), or another development team give it a crack and make something reminiscent of the Skylander Formula, adding their own flair and design choices. Personally, the parts of Skylanders I have always loved the most are the character designs and gameplay, so a Skylanders game without Toy-to-Life figures isn't a deal-breaker for me. Sure, having a figure of my favorite Skylander designs is great, but I'm fine with just seeing them in-game if I have to. If I had to pick between a new game and a remake, I'd say the remake is more likely and preferable. No figures on a new game would feel wrong, at least without a test-run of a remaster/remake/collection without them as well. We're also not likely to get a new game for some time, so a remake of some kind would not only test the waters but make sure newcomers don't need to go back and play the old games. We recently saw another "dead" fad genre come back to life with the Guitar Hero/Plastic Instruments style thanks to Fortnite Festival. It's had large community support for many years now, but with the new game mode in Fortnite companies are now making their own new controllers to release in large part due to the success and popularity of the mode. It's not perfect and changes were made to the gameplay, but at it's core Festival is just like Guitar Hero and Rock Band before it (it's also developed by one of the teams that made those games), something I think Skylanders will need to do if it wants to successfully get new and returning players. TLDR: We're a long ways away from a new Skylanders game and anything is possible, from new entries or remakes to entirely new IPs, we'll have to wait and see what the future holds for Skylanders and the Toy-to-Life genre as a whole.
I think they should create a new Skylanders game and I know what it should have been. It should have been the Skylanders shapeshifters. Because reusing that scrapped idea to create that game would be satisfying to see.
I don't really want a new Skylanders game, I just want a complete series game. All the games in one, with all the skylanders, magic items, etc all built in. I think that would be really fire. I only ever completed Spyro's Adventure, So I'd love to play the rest of them.
I think what they could do is allow everyone to use the original skylanders digitally, but if you had the old toys and portal you could get exclusive skins for the characters, or even as powerups
I think all 6 skylanders games should be in a package, you unlock any characters in a specific game, and if you hook up a portal, you unlock them. Every skylander could be used in any game. The battle mode would have a few more maps
As a huge Skylanders fan, I would not mind another game. I even thought of a good gimmick. The ability to switch the Skylander's element. This would allow your Skylander to have two completely different move sets depending on the element it is set to. So you can play as a fire Skylander with a move list resembling the fire element and then have the option to switch the Skylander to, let's say, the Earth element, which would have a new move list resembling the Earth element. Or the game can be about how Kaos found a way to change the Skylanders' elements. So now we get to play with some of our old favorites but they have a different move set based on their new element.
My biggest issues with a potential Skylanders 7 are a smaller TFB, no Vicarious Visions, and it becoming much less feasible to get a collection of one of each unique character, and if there's no toys to life aspect, then lack of backwards compatability and new figures.
- If they do a Sky7, they should do non-expensive figures and create a max of 20ish characters, with the possibility of full retrocompatibility, but most importantly with having the option to buy all the characters (even the new ones) with in-game currency - If they do a remastered, kinda the same, compatibility with old figures, option to buy the characters with in-game money, and with the possibility to re-release old figures (not all of them obviously) like new Eon's Elite, with even reposes
My ideal would be a Triple Pack of the first 3 games remastered. The games would come with all base Skylanders unlocked from collecting their Soul Gem or something similar. However, there would also be the option to use a Portal and the figures that many of us have already. From a business perspective, they could offer digital purchases of Legendary, Chase Variants etc. - Aswell as other brand new "cosmetics" that you can use with Skylanders that have already been unlocked or used on the portal. They could do the same with the Magical Items/Additional Levels. They could also offer some brand new 'Digital Only' Skylanders if they really wanted to get greedy, but I don't personally like that as an idea. This way, there would still be the element of a micro transaction but everyone who has already bought the figures could continue to use them!
Man- I wish I didn’t end up having to sell all my skylanders stuff, it’s not like I had anything rare it’s just that trying to get back into it is a massive undertaking with how expensive everything’s gotten
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Skylanders movie. I mean Mario has a movie (1 movie there was never a live action movie), Sonic has 2 about to be 3 movies, Minecraft is getting a movie and Tetris is getting a movie. Yes Tetris, a game about place blocks in the right place, is getting a movie before Skylanders, a game with an actual story and characters.
I don’t know how game breaking it would be but I think it would be cool if every game was remastered with every skylander from any game useable in each
With a remaster of SA and Giants, I have an idea on how unlocking skylanders would work: both figures or digitally. For those who dont have figures getting skylanders in game would be similar to lego games: You start off with a few and you'd use coins to unlock more. But if you DO have figures and a portal.. Well go on and plug that baby in and put your skylander on the portal and BOOM! You have the skylander unlocked with all the stats on the figure. Easy.
I imagined a possible new mechanic for a possible new chapter: A new group of Skylanders, the Multi-Elementals, who have the possibility of changing their element, not all 10 obviously, maybe like 3 random ones, which you can select when they positions, if you want to change it however you have to remove it and reposition it, and finally, when you select an element, the base of the puppet lights up with the light connected to the selected element. Plus I was thinking about the return of many Core Skylanders from the old games, but with different elements: Like Spyro who becomes the element of Life. The title would be "Elemental Shift". The story is like an ancient evil sorcerer used an ancient spell that reversed the elements, leaving the various Skylanders confused, and in the process created these new Skylanders who can change their element. Obviously new Skylanders must also be introduced.
could do what nintendo does with amiibo for the figure side of things.. can unlock characters in game by just playing the game and unlocking them maybe via side quests or something or could get NFC coins/cards and you auto unlock the character or get free items or some levels by scanning it?
I know there were a lot of groups thinking about putting NFts (nonfungable transactions, essentially crypto) in some games as collectibles, this might be a use case for NFTs that makes sense--making each character an NFT.. It would also be nice to see that you could claim an old character if you still have the figurine. Other than that, I would like to see new characters being released, and being able to store stats for your gameplay on the character himself.
I think they should do a Swap Force remaster. Swap Force was my first introduction into the world of Skylands. And it's seen by a lot of people as the best game in the Franchise. So I feel like a remaster of Swap Force would be absolutely amazing.
As for the physical or digital thing.. I feel like it'd be a good idea to do both. For those who have the portal, and the Skylanders, they can use a portal to summon the Skylander, and play as them that way. But if they don't have the Skylander, they can have the ones you don't have locked behind a paywall so if you can't go get the physical figures, you can just get them like dlc. That way everyone's happy.
As for whether or not they should allow us to also use the Skylanders from Trap Team to Imaginators.. Maybe not do that.. Don't get me wrong.. I really like Blackout, Snap Shot, Spitfire, Tae Kwon Crow and a lot of those Skylanders.. And I really don't mind them being in the game if they wanna do that.. but.. I feel like it'd just be out of place for them to be in Swap Force.
I would like a Skylanders game that is mostly digital but has some small Toys to Life part. Some digital coins to buy Skylanders digital and a few new psyhical ones. They will sell portals seperatly for people who dont have them but want them. With a few figures I meant maybe like 5. And if that gose well they could try to keep adding more Toys to Life if they want.
I could maybe see a remaster of the first game, with the addition of 2 separate modes. A non toys to life mode for new players and a toys to life enabled mode for old players who want a more classic experience. All they would have to do is just make the old portals compatible (no manufacturing costs for figures/accessories required).
Perhaps with a remaster, they could keep it functional with the old ones, but using something like nfc cards and start with a version of the old ones. Perhaps even make the new ones into a variant look of the old ones, things like skin unlocks for them. Making it compatible with the old ones means that they can make some of them into physical things. Another option might be to go with a combo approach, create a game that can expand with a new thing combined with things where you can add remasters of older content into it.
I think what they could do is make new remakes of older figures like the series 2 figures, rerelease them slowly and steadily while still making the old ones playable.
If I was to remake or make new Skylanders. Id solve the portal problem by making a portal kinda like Trap Teams where you have the plate for the figures but also slots for cards. That way if you have the physical figures you can still use them but also start making old and new Skylanders into like amiibo cards. That way theres not so much risk in making figures but if there was a figure youd want you could still get it from the second hand market. Also they could reuse the keyart from the original Skylanders cards you got when you bought the figures that way they still wouldnt have to spend so much. Realistically itd be the only way i could think of to make everyone happy other than just making everything digitally.
A pc port for skylanders giants is really all I want and need, sure it's cool to have swap force and etc but come one, it's my fav skylanders in general
Controversial opinion: I want the new Skylanders to have it’e own figures. I just wanna feel the feeling of going to Target or Walmart or Best Buy looking for new figures instead of seeing them in little plastic baggies.
I feel they can do a remaster to see if they get more people interested in it as well as provid a portal or find a way to make your phone the portal. I think they should only release 3 new figures with the game as well as hade the option to unlock legendary characters in the game. But I feel like making your phone the portal is a good way for someone to feel like a portal master. Just release one figure even if it’s a mini figure would be enough. I think using you phone as the portal is the better idea. It can be used to scan new and older figures to add into the game
They really just need to remake the original games and figure out how to work “toys to life” into the modern age without just ditching the figures. A remake is the best place to start with something like that
Is say make a live service reboot and have the characters act as dlc. So when you buy one it unlocks like 3 story missions for that character, plus all the areas that are close of by that element
Honeslty, I Agree With The REST Of The ORIGINAL 2012 Community (Cause me myself, I've played and I finished EVERY Skylanders Game EXCEPT For SuperChargers) Sadly, I Don't Have The Figures Anymore, because I lost them while MOVING Out of my old house about 2 years ago 😭😭😭 The things I would do just to get my hands on Skylanders again..
with how affordable NFC Coins are, id say its a decent way to achieve toys to life while keeping from going in the red financially, heck the lore implications could be interesting too as to why they're coins instead of figures, id also say it would get people who love obtaining a dragon's hoard of collectable trinkets like dice, keychains, etc., so why not go the NFC Coin rout? i say all this because NFC Cards/Coins were and are still how many can collect figures like Knightmare, Knightlight and the light/dark traps without spending an arm and a leg while still being able to complete Skylanders trap team sure its risky, but doing this would really be neat and doing this for a remaster would really get the ball rolling again
I would think the best option is to remaster the first 2 games and allow for the physical characters to be used with the portal, but also have an option provided to purchase the characters digitally. That way it can still be approached by new fans, while old fans collections don't go to waste. if that is a success, then make a 7th game with new physical characters, with digital characters still being an option.
If we did get a remastered Skylanders, they should release it with a new portal that's compatible with the newer consoles but allows you to use your pre-existing collection, but they should also release a selection of Skylanders from the older games so new players can enjoy it too. And they should have some bonuses, like being able to unlock the expansion pack levels after beating one of the games. I feel like they could easily remaster the first three games, since their gimmicks are easy to replicate, unlike that of the Traps, Vehicles or Creation Crystals.
Okay so hear me out. If they were to do a remaster I think they do the following and it has to do with soul gems. Soul gems at the time got us a cool new move but what if it functioned as a character unlock? A lot of them are hidden or are a puzzle to get to, so now you have more of a reason to find them than just “stump smash can float in water.”
Considering how long it’s been since skylanders was around I’m curious what direction they’d go with a new game, cause they could go more “grown” in a BOTW/TOTK style where it’s still goofy but more complex since all the people who liked those games as a kid are teens-young adults now-
I’m mostly scared that, if they added compatibility with old figures, demand for figures would skyrocket and I wouldn’t be able to get every Skylanders.
I'm one of those people who want a open world skylanders game, but I think they should feature a escalation mode allowing other people to play with someone else who could be from the other side of the world. Story wise I am kind of hoping for the following: after the events of imaginators the villains of the relm new and old have started to rise up and at the worst possible time as eon has retired and you a young portal master from another relm are now incharge. In a attempt to serve as the relms beckon of hope, you set your site's on building a city for the skylanders finding and bringing them back to help you while helping the citizens of the relm playing as the portal master while being able to take control of a skylander during a mission. With the end of the game being a full out war against Kaos who has teamed up with the dragon king Malafor and you have to fight them off and defeat them.
I remember reading an idea game for it skylanders MONSTERS that would be cool to have really cool looking monster ones and classes like stomp roar flying sounded cool back then!!!!
At end of the skylanders giants 10th anniversary video in 2022 they said something about 2 years from now it’s 2024 could be the 10th anniversary of trap team or finally a new skylanders game
I think if we had a new team start with a remaster, then move onto creating a new game may be a good way to go. They could also do a Hybrid of both digital and physical skylanders. Digital as its what we are used to in this day and age, and physical for the collectors and those who want the nostalgia of holding something physical. As for a new mechanic, probably some sort of merging mechanic, where all skylanders have the ability to some extent, but only the new characters can use this power to its full potential. They could have the game be open world, and can play levels out of order, then have the final boss or two be locked until you progress enough.
I think having a remastered collection of all 6 mainline games (plus the mobile games as bonus), with the key factor being that Toys to Life is optional (using the portal/toys could just immediately unlock certain characters/levels, but you can still earn them by playing the game). They could even make it like Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga, where you unlock the main games story/accessibility in order (example: you start with Spyro's Adventure and play through the main story to unlock Giants, etc.) But there are 2 primary concerns for a new/remaster Skylanders game: 1) Activision either moved on or doesn't see it as profitable enough to play along with it 2) TFB's decision to go indie meaning they may not be able to work on this hypothetical game (unless they get a partnership with Microsoft for it), and whatever company Activision chooses to have work on it will not be as great as TFB was.
I only see a remaster/remake working if it's like a lego game or ultimate alliance where you have a team of four for the level. There probably won't be a return of the toys to life model.
Getting a new Skylander or Remastered, I be happy both ways. I grew up with Skylanders as a kid and am still trying to collect my favorites until I have them :)
One thing that makes a comeback impossible is the lack of a "dumping ground." Toys R Us was THE Skylanders store, with all other major retailers providing less simultaneously. Sure, Gamestop was a second strong seller, but when did any Gamestop ever have the space Toys R Us had? It would be a surprise if TRU wasn't the reason Skylanders was such a strong force in its gimmicky new genre
I would love a new Skylanders game or a remaster of one of the original games. My favourite character to play was Hex and my younger would play Whirlwind and we would always play together.
I would literally just want a remaster. I remember being a kid playing skylanders giants and I never got to truly enjoy the game because I didn’t have the money and I couldn’t ask my mom for new skylanders. Please just make the game accessible for everyone with online currency. You can bring back the portal but it’s so much harder for fans to get action figures
If they made a new game they could do every Skylander digitally or maybe just a few but you could get all the previous upgrades and money while also maybe even a buff with putting the toys on
I think a amiibo style might be the best new game bet. Pre-installed skylanders, perhaps gotten by paying gold, with the option to have old figures unlock the characters.
Would much rather have a remastered of the first 2 games to get people who haven't played the original games into it then after that make a Skylanders 7
Same! I’ve said this for years, we need a remaster first to get people back into the franchise or get new people in.
I agree. Though, afterwards I’d love a new game.
That was exactly what I was thinking
Hey @SkylanderGamerTV when’s the next video upload?
First 3*
Ideally, I'd like a collection of the first three games remastered with all the figures digitally unlocked by playing (you can optionally use your old figures), then the second three games releasing a year or two later with the same mechanic for figures, then if the hype for the games did well, make a new installment with new physical figures now that you have a fanbase built up that would like to collect the figures again
Skylanders without figures is like GTA without guns, it wouldn’t work well and it would be ruining what originally made the games so fun
@@jamiwer85 correct but without knowing if the current game industry wants to spend more money on figures, it is a good way to test the waters to see if people still want skylanders
if you truly want to only use figures, just play the original games
and as I said, id ideally like for the remasters i described to allow portal functionality as an option
i think that making you pay for each character without it being toys to life would be pretty cash-grabby
@@MajikButton it would, thats why i think characters should just be unlocked along with gameplay
for instance replaced soul gems with character unlocks
@@jumbology honestly even tho me and my family are broke af id much rather toys to life if it isnt TOO expensive its part of the whole experience and the gameplay would also have to be tailored to people getting more characters as they progress the game
Here's how I'd do it:
4. Release Skylanders 7 a few years later if sales and reception are positive, using similar features as the SSA+SG remasters.
tbh ideally, a remaster or new game should have both toys to life and and option for digital, so everyone's happy
I would much rather them make it to where you can buy the characters in a digital shop, or buy them irl, that whole toy things seems way too 10 years ago now in 2024
@@lumigotdatshadow I just said do both so everyone's happy lol
Starlink went that route, and they stopped selling the physical toys because of how people saw the digital option as the cheaper one.
Isn't starlink that one with star fox in it?
@@jonvlc In the Switch version, yes.
Yeah a remaster would be great. We could finally have jumping in Spyro and Giants
It had a decent fanbase and when the remaster came out, people went back to play the original but the remaster wasn't talked much about as it was kind of meh
Then you have the Spyro remaster.
So like MMX collection
6:46 my idea: it’s in the game but it is STILL possible to use the figures
here's my solution, make dedicated ports of the games for all modern platforms, not remakes, not remasters or anything like that just simply ports of the original games, have a menu button or just a dedicated button for swapping skylanders, give the player access to the starter pack characters as a base roster, that way tutorials stay relatively the same and have the soul gems within the levels unlock the characters rather than just a specific upgrade. whatever figure you get in one game can transfer over to the other game and that would keep the feel of collecting skylanders alive without requiring the need for figures, you could still be able to use them but they aren't a necessity and would become more of a novelty. there's obviously some things that would still need to change like the starter pack soul gems and stuff but you could honestly swap those out for access to the bonus levels, that way it still keeps them for the most part disconnected from the main game
Actually this is a good idea
Anyways, great video dude, can’t wait to see more 👌
Couldn’t agree more with your final thesis. Great video as always man!
If they did a remaster I would hope that they would do what superchargers did by making different versions of the originals
Yes but new portal so Skylanders racing and trap team work at same time and swapteam
Imaginators as well.
But only the one portal so future Skylanders games have a faithful revival.
For me, remaster is the way to go! Imagine seeing the 15th anniversary of skylanders and the game being released, seeing the hype!
Skylanders had a big impact in my life, and I’m sure to many others as well, so just getting to feel that magic again would be so… emotional!
For the roster we can have every single Skylander Including your verry own imaginators and add more on top of that
this video was to kindly say to the community lower your expectations although that would be cool
There’s just nothing new going on, so not many content can be made from it anymore that hasn’t already been done a million times
Everyone, we just gotta pray that these games do come back, and also the show, I’ve been wanting the show to come back so bad
what if they make spyro adventure + giants with all the characters individually that you can pay with real money and if you have the real figures and a portal you can put them in and you’ll have them in game
A new Skylanders is only possible for me in combination with figures. Without figures it would not be the same for me and I would not be interested in it and would not buy it. I would rather put figures in the closet that I can look at, touch and play on, than to buy an online collection for 300 €
Unfortunately, economic risk is a thing…
@@ajwisniewski133If a new Skylanders game ever comes out, which I hope it does, I would approach it differently from Toys for Bob's perspective. I would develop a game that offers more content, more chapters, mini-games and so on. I would follow SSA in terms of the number of figures. I would also give more time in terms of rotating a new title, two to maybe three years. Also in the sense that people have more time to buy the figures and play the game.
@@xonnra figures are cool but they’d never do it again it’s just not that market anymore
Move on, toys to life died 7 years ago, they're not going to make anymore figures.
A remastered spyros adventure would go SO HARD
I think a remaster/remake should be in the right direction because after Imaginators failed as a Skylander game even though it did have some cool features and new Skylanders (especially with the doom Raiders now being Skylanders which was cool) it’s still performed very poorly.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if we ever got a remaster of the old ones or a seventh installment, I just want Skylanders to return *period!*
However, I've decided to work on my idea for bringing back the franchise, but in a spinoff! So sit back and let me tell you about my Skylanders spinoff game.
I call it: *Skylanders Eclipse*
It is a spinoff that *solely* focuses on the dark and light elements. Why, well ever since they were introduced in Trap Team, Superchargers and Imaginators, they overall had the *LEAST* amount of skylanders! So, not only will my spinoff bring back the skylanders franchise, but also give the dark and light elements more collectional variety and love/attention! The roster will be 32 total (similar to the SSA roster, but also includes the "gimmick"landers) (16 each) and will consist of
Eight Core Skylanders
One Giant
Two Swap Force (new swappabilites will be Gravitate and Rhythm)
One Trap Master
Two Minis
One Supercharger
One Sensei (Light Bazooker and Dark Quickshot)
Here's the storyline: the main villainess is: *Empress Eclipta* she was once a standard Drow Witch who her and her Drow legion served under Lord Kaos!
Wow that is so creative❤
@@metalsnake262 glad you like it
Since this spin-off focuses on the Light and Dark elements, would the other eight be restricted from play?
@@iannations2543 yes
I love this idea, it sheds light (pun not intended) on the "neglected" elements and has an amazing plot
The digital or toys to life is easy
Toys auto unlock, and they still have portal compatibility, but for newcomers, you just have them have the main four, then you unlock more as time goes on
I think the best gimmick idea would be to just bring back all the old ones from every game to a smaller extent and improve upon them in some way, like just releasing a couple giants/swappers etc and reintroducing trappable bosses
My idea is that if they're going to release a new game, it has to be multiplayer... Imagine a skylanders pvp game with toys to life where there is competitive gaming, that would be amazing
Asking the hard questions
I was obssessed with these games when they came out, but i never played it cus getting the characters was too expensive
i would like both a remastered of the first 3 skylanders games and then a new one
This video changed me, I went from a skylander 7 fan to a skylander remaster fan
I feel like skylanders wouldn’t have the same charm without the figures
I don't really want a new Skylanders game, I just want a complete series game. All the games in one, with all the skylanders, magic items, etc all built in. I think that would be really fire. I only ever completed Spyro's Adventure, So I'd love to play the rest of them.
I had a skylanders dream last week cynder got detachable armor, and spyro got green antlers. It was in an Egyptian area.
YES!!! how is that even a question?!
- If they do a Sky7, they should do non-expensive figures and create a max of 20ish characters, with the possibility of full retrocompatibility, but most importantly with having the option to buy all the characters (even the new ones) with in-game currency
- If they do a remastered, kinda the same, compatibility with old figures, option to buy the characters with in-game money, and with the possibility to re-release old figures (not all of them obviously) like new Eon's Elite, with even reposes
Honestly, If we got one, I think it should be a mixture of several games if it was a remake
For the toys to life or no toys to life stuff I would make it like Starfeld where you can either get the physical toys or buy them as DLC
Honeslty, I Agree With The REST Of The ORIGINAL 2012 Community (Cause me myself, I've played and I finished EVERY Skylanders Game EXCEPT For SuperChargers)
Sadly, I Don't Have The Figures Anymore, because I lost them while MOVING Out of my old house about 2 years ago 😭😭😭
The things I would do just to get my hands on Skylanders again..
i would want skylanders 7 to be like swap force and trap team :)
with how affordable NFC Coins are, id say its a decent way to achieve toys to life while keeping from going in the red financially, heck the lore implications could be interesting too as to why they're coins instead of figures, id also say it would get people who love obtaining a dragon's hoard of collectable trinkets like dice, keychains, etc., so why not go the NFC Coin rout?
i say all this because NFC Cards/Coins were and are still how many can collect figures like Knightmare, Knightlight and the light/dark traps without spending an arm and a leg while still
being able to complete Skylanders trap team
sure its risky, but doing this would really be neat and doing this for a remaster would really get the ball rolling again
Id like a disney infinitity gold style remaster of spyros adventure where i wouldnt need a portal
11:19 what difference does that make when that option is *no* future for the franchise?
Ye thats what i asked myself too
If we did get a remastered Skylanders, they should release it with a new portal that's compatible with the newer consoles but allows you to use your pre-existing collection, but they should also release a selection of Skylanders from the older games so new players can enjoy it too. And they should have some bonuses, like being able to unlock the expansion pack levels after beating one of the games. I feel like they could easily remaster the first three games, since their gimmicks are easy to replicate, unlike that of the Traps, Vehicles or Creation Crystals.
I'd love to see both a remaster and new game with option for toys to life. The originals are so much fun and I still have all the figures so...
Story wise I am kind of hoping for the following:
after the events of imaginators the villains of the relm new and old have started to rise up and at the worst possible time as eon has retired and you a young portal master from another relm are now incharge.
They could even make it like Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga, where you unlock the main games story/accessibility in order (example: you start with Spyro's Adventure and play through the main story to unlock Giants, etc.)
But there are 2 primary concerns for a new/remaster Skylanders game:
1) Activision either moved on or doesn't see it as profitable enough to play along with it
2) TFB's decision to go indie meaning they may not be able to work on this hypothetical game (unless they get a partnership with Microsoft for it), and whatever company Activision chooses to have work on it will not be as great as TFB was.
Love a new game with figures just like the olden days!!
If they made a new one I’d be down, I miss it but hopefully they do what star link did with the digital characters. So then I could get my faves back
just from reading the title alone, it's about the same reason everyone wants a new Gwimbly game
