  • Possibly one of the most iconic landmarks in all of Hawai‘i is Diamond Head, traditionally known as Lē‘ahi, meaning the brow of the tuna. This crater got its more modern name back in the 19th century when British sailors thought that they seen diamonds glistening on its slopes -- it didn’t have any value. It’s true value is more than just that. Taking care of mālama ‘āina allows us and future generations to enjoy Lē‘ahi from ma uka to ma kai. Lē‘ahi is known for its surfing, hiking and one of Hawai‘i’s best farmer’s markets.
