Eat the deer, the optimistic outlook is that you turned potato’s into meat.

I appreciate your experiments as they have given me great insights as to possible challenges to consider! I spray deer repellent regularly on my gardens and will have to remember to do that on my potato'ed mulch heaps.

Experiments are how we learn, especially when they fail!

Our potatoes failed too, the first ones that sprouted got thrown away while waiting for spring to be favorable for them, the second ones were peelings that had no eyes and fed whatever other plants were planted on them, the third ones are whole potatoes in the ground now, but were kinda fungus-y with no eyes, and the fourth ones were peelings with no eyes just sprinkled on the surface of the 3rd ones. At least there are hundreds of strawberry seedlings in the window~

Experiments are not failures, you have more data to incorporate for the next run!

Keep your chin up!! Honestly next time you have some store bought taders start to go bad on you just chuck them into some bald spot in your garden, they'll probably grow good plus if its closer to the house maybe the deer will stay away? Thanks for the update!

That's the plan. Never let a "bad" tater go to waste!

I am going to give growing potatoes a whirl. I have so many giant bird seed feed bags accumulated that it's becoming a problem. Will designate a few for potato containers, makeshift duct tape tarps, and stuffed / standing cold weather plant insulators (connected in 3's and 4's with a brick or 2 at the bottom, duct taped closed at the top).

That was partly what inspired this idea. I will have to try it for real next time!
