Hi, Swedish Gringo I was wondering how much do you charge has a guide in Rio, cause I will be headed to Rio for vacation and stay for 2 weeks in November.
What’s up Karl! There is a link in description to my travel page where you can see some examples. And also book a free call to discuss what you want us to do 💥👍
Hi Swedish Gringo, I hope life is all good man! 👍😎 So when it comes to Rio do the ladies understand and speak English ? Or is it very Portuguese and you only communicate speaking Portuguese ?
14:55 Pedra do Sal. “Phones get stolen” - how do the thieves work? Do they stop you and threat you forcing you to give the phone or do they silently try to reach into your pocket? The latter can be avoided by just wearing shorts/trousers with closed zippers.
I'm in São Paulo right now, but I'll be in Rio in a few days I feel this old mix of apprehension and excitement Apprehension because of the horror stories about rampant crime and chaos Excitement because of the change of scenery I don't resonate with SP, it's a soulless concrete jungle without proper charm I like the mix of urban/natural settings in RDJ, at least in Zona Sul The overall energy feels more vibrant and fun compared to SP I'll put my best foot forward as I always do, and ask God to protect me from dead angles that I might overlook
Haha why are you the second person saying this? Literally interviews are new, apart from two girls at the end, and they are speaking about other things
Hey, Swedish Gringo, can you point me to that video where there's a nice girl somewhere in Copacabana who offers guided tours and advice? Asking for someone else and I will recommend you too
Dude just go offline and pretend he doesnt exist 😂 why you come to the internet to complain about the internet? Either live offline and do things manually or go with the flow and use the internet for whats good. But naaah, you chose option c which is to be miserable 🤣
Don't walk around with a lot of bling. Leave your jewlery and expensive watches at home. Dress modestly. Don't walk around with a big wad of cash. Take what you need for the day and keep the rest in the hotel safe. Have a small camera or just your phone. Don't bring a big DSLR. Don't walk on the beach after dusk. Don't even walk on the pavement on the beachside of Copacabana after dusk. Don't go to the favela alone. Rio is an amazing place, but be always aware of your surroundings. Just a friendly advice.
It is said that the main advice is almost always be careful. I don't know what's going on to cities around the world. And even in Europe they all are becoming dangerous and people just accept this.
About 22 years ago i got robbed on Copacabana beach walk at night by a gang that put a revolver up to my temple, they’d used a seemingly distressed child as part of their bait, it was quite a distasteful lesson in the lows of human nature. I used to stay in that area a lot as i not only went to Brazil for the social dancing scene and beautiful scenery but also to visit the Help Discoteca It was the largest nightclub in South America. Unfortunately the club had aged considerably through use and was shut down for that White Elephant of a moving image museum or whatever….Anyway it’s still closed when i walked past it on a recent trip back there. The fun was only spoilt by the odd drugging of male tourists and i believe a few of them have died and the culprits not correctly punished through loopholes in the law so perhaps that another reason why it was closed as there’s plenty of Sauna clubs that offer a safe experience in Adult entertainment without anyone needing to die or be ripped off. I stayed this time in Leblon and although i kept my phone out of sight and often didn’t bother bringing it to the beach i had a very pleasant experience on Leblon and Ipanema beaches and was not scoped out for robbery even once to my surprise. The Brazilians themselves are addicted to smart phones even on the beach to my surprise and seemed to have a much more business like approach than 22 years ago. For example beach vendors were actually giving me fair prices for chair and a small sun umbrella and on occasions didn’t charge me for drinks I’d bought and wanted my repeat business instead of just trying to rip me off on the first day of going on the beach. Most Brazilians were quite polite and helpful and my personal boundaries and space were not violated (as they have been in Egypt for example) throughout my stay even though the older people told me the situation was now worse with Malandros etc. As for ladies the ones i spoke to were civil but didn’t seem particularly interested in me perhaps it’s different if you stay much longer there or are naturally more extrovert social and cool lols😂. Regardless it was a fun trip! Maybe Copacabana has more outgoing people and more tourists as well as the less salubrious elements but 22 years on I’ll be sticking to Leblon.

So when it comes to Rio do the ladies understand and speak English ?
Or is it very Portuguese and you only communicate speaking Portuguese ?
A lot of the girls don’t speak (or don’t want to speak) a word of English and others are fluent. It differs a lot between peoole and areas you visit
14:55 Pedra do Sal. “Phones get stolen” - how do the thieves work? Do they stop you and threat you forcing you to give the phone or do they silently try to reach into your pocket? The latter can be avoided by just wearing shorts/trousers with closed zippers.
There are many ways! They usually operate in groups, not seldom with girls being intimate, or simply watch you and wait until you pick that phone up
Pickpocket, because lapa is crowded. Some drunk people just lose their phones and then think it was stolen.
I'm in São Paulo right now, but I'll be in Rio in a few days
I feel this old mix of apprehension and excitement
Apprehension because of the horror stories about rampant crime and chaos
Excitement because of the change of scenery

I like the mix of urban/natural settings in RDJ, at least in Zona Sul
The overall energy feels more vibrant and fun compared to SP
