The song is indeed lovely 😊 ❤️ 💕 💗 but I never liked the part where Bruce referred to the narrator’s sweetheart’s small daughter as a “brat.” It struck me as kind of a mean thing to say.
The verse that Springsteen added where he calls her kid a brat ruins the song for me. I just won’t listen to the BS version. That verse never appears in any of Tom Watts renditions. Or at least none of the renditions that I’ve ever heard.
