- The Andalusian city of Seville fell to Christian Castile in 1248, after over 500 years of being a Muslim city. Abu al-Baqa’ al-Rundi was a contemporary Andalusian poet from the city of Ronda, in southern Iberia, who wrote a lament about the fall of the once great city in 1267. He alluded to ancient Arabian and Persian history in his poem, hoping to inspire Muslims to rise up and recapture the city.

@El Mauro I don’t really follow ethnicity, but my fathers family is mixed with middle eastern, Balkan Macedonian, Swedish, and Caribbean. My mothers DNA is Yoruba. So anyone would say “black American” but I don’t use “black” as an ethnicity.

Tariq ibn Zyad the Conqueror was an Amazigh as his 12 000 men... the people who migrated massively to Al Andalus were the Berbers at 14km accross the detroit, and certainly not the Arabs at 6 to 8000 km away... the Andalusian architecture was made to look like the Maghribia... I don t hate the Arabs, the best man who ever lived was Muhammad saws my prophet and he was an Arab... but we are not, we ve been Arabized, and a lot of us thinks they are Arabs, by ignorance. That’s false and almost a « blasphemy » since the heir of every old nation of the region including the bani Ysrael of old (that were invader not native) are the Palestian and Lebanese (more the Christian than Muslim except in some specific area since the Muslim marry more freely other Levantin).
And it can be « blasphemy » since the distinction between Jews (Yahud) and Bani Ysrael (the Old Nation) is important and link to some specific rule in Islam

لكل شيءٍ إذا ما تم نقصانُ فلا يُغرُّ بطيب العيش إنسانُ
هي الأيامُ كما شاهدتها دُولٌ مَن سَرَّهُ زَمنٌ ساءَتهُ أزمانُ
وهذه الدار لا تُبقي على أحد ولا يدوم على حالٍ لها شان
يُمزق الدهر حتمًا كل سابغةٍ إذا نبت مشْرفيّاتٌ وخُرصانُ
وينتضي كلّ سيف للفناء ولوْ كان ابنَ ذي يزَن والغمدَ غُمدان
أين الملوك ذَوو التيجان من يمنٍ وأين منهم أكاليلٌ وتيجانُ ؟
وأين ما شاده شدَّادُ في إرم وأين ما ساسه في الفرس ساسانُ ؟

وللحوادث سُلوان يسهلها وما لما حلّ بالإسلام سُلوانُ
دهى الجزيرة أمرٌ لا عزاءَ له هوى له أُحدٌ وانهدْ ثهلانُ
أصابها العينُ في الإسلام فامتحنتْ حتى خَلت منه أقطارٌ وبُلدانُ
فاسأل (بلنسيةً) ما شأنُ (مُرسيةً) وأينَ (شاطبةٌ) أمْ أينَ (جَيَّانُ)
وأين (قُرطبة)ٌ دارُ العلوم فكم من عالمٍ قد سما فيها له شانُ
وأين (حْمص)ُ وما تحويه من نزهٍ ونهرهُا العَذبُ فياضٌ وملآنُ
قواعدٌ كنَّ أركانَ البلاد فما عسى البقاءُ إذا لم تبقَ أركانُ
تبكي الحنيفيةَ البيضاءُ من ! ;أسفٍ كما بكى لفراق الإلفِ هيمانُ
على ديار من الإسلام خالية قد أقفرت ولها بالكفر عُمرانُ
حيث المساجد قد صارت كنائسَ ما فيهنَّ إلا نواقيسٌ وصُلبانُ
حتى المحاريبُ تبكي وهي جامدةٌ حتى المنابرُ ترثي وهي عيدانُ
يا غافلاً وله في الدهرِ موعظةٌ إن كنت في سِنَةٍ فالدهرُ يقظانُ
وماشيًا مرحًا يلهيه موطنهُ أبعد حمصٍ تَغرُّ المرءَ أوطانُ ؟
تلك المصيبةُ أنستْ ما تقدمها وما لها مع طولَ الدهرِ نسيانُ
يا راكبين عتاق الخيلِ ضامرةً كأنها في مجال السبقِ عقبانُ
وحاملين سيُوفَ الهندِ مرهفةُ كأنها في ظلام النقع نيرانُ
وراتعين وراء البحر في دعةٍ لهم بأوطانهم عزٌّ وسلطانُ
أعندكم نبأ من أهل أندلسٍ فقد سرى بحديثِ القومِ رُكبانُ ؟
كم يستغيث بنا المستضعفون وهم قتلى وأسرى فما يهتز إنسان ؟
ماذا التقاُطع في الإسلام بينكمُ وأنتمْ يا عبادَ الله إخوانُ ؟
ألا نفوسٌ أبياتٌ لها هممٌ أما على الخيرِ أنصارٌ وأعوانُ
يا من لذلةِ قومٍ بعدَ عزِّهمُ أحال حالهمْ جورُ وطُغيانُ
بالأمس كانوا ملوكًا في منازلهم واليومَ هم في بلاد الكفرِّ عُبدانُ
فلو تراهم حيارى لا دليل لهمْ عليهمُ من ثيابِ الذلِ ألوانُ
ولو رأيتَ بكاهُم عندَ بيعهمُ لهالكَ الأمرُ واستهوتكَ أحزانُ
يا ربَّ أمّ وطفلٍ حيلَ بينهما كما تفرقَ أرواحٌ وأبدانُ
وطفلةً مثل حسنِ الشمسِ إذ طلعت كأنما هي ياقوتٌ ومرجانُ
يقودُها العلجُ للمكروه مكرهةً والعينُ باكيةُ والقلبُ حيرانُ
لمثل هذا يذوب القلبُ من كمدٍ إن كان في القلبِ إسلامٌ وإيمانُ

According to historical sources, one of the reasons Al Andalus was lost, was because it was considered an outpost of Islamic civilization rather than a center of it and was thus not given a higher priority compared to the Maghreb and Levant.
That is euro-centrism thought because people want to know how it could fall. It fell because good times create soft people. Hard times create strong people.

One of the meanings of الذل is also shame and it has the same connotation with humiliation. See Hans Wehr.
