Sjobergs Elite cabinetmaker benches are constructed in European beech renowned for its toughness and longevity. The top is 85mm thick with a 110mm apron, ready treated with a premium quality enriching finishing oil. The specially developed vices provide enormous clamping power across their 740mm(23.1/2") width as well as accuracy and smoothness. The vices have an opening capacity of 145mm(5.3/4"). The double row of round dogs is useable from both vices and across the worktop. Each Elite bench is supplied with four round steel bench dogs which can also be used in the bench legs. The Elite is quality all the way; construction, materials, design and finish. With a large range of accessories, the Sjobergs Elite Bench is the ideal foundation for your workshop.
Note:
Sjobergs benches are kiln dried to 8% moisture content. If your workshop is not a humidity controlled environment and can exceed 75% air humidity Axminster recommends sealing the bench with 2 or 3 coats of finishing oil on the top, underside and dog holes. This treatment should be maintained from time to time.

You would think a woodworker would make their own bench.
You need the bench to make a bench
You'd think, but it would cost about as much by the time you buy all the lumber (beech in this case) the vise costs about $450 each and there's 2 of them, and then hardware and your time.
Unfortunately the Sjoberg bench my boss bought for me to use 23 years ago was lost in the fire we had in June that destroyed the 4 buildings and everything in them, I was the only one in the shop who had a new commercial bench like this, I'll never have another Sjoberg bench again unless I pay for it myself and I don't want to spend the money for something to use at work that I know others will be horning in and using the vice and work surface when I'm not.
It was a good solid bench, with the cabinets and drawers under it which costs extra.

Get a couple cheap blockwood beech worktops, rip em up, glue em up and make your own for less than a quarter the price
