Nice bike, but clicked for the truck content, not bikes.
"say more, talk less"
I bought a 2018 new off the lot with only 8 miles on it in 2020, I have had it for just over a year and I have went through the manual but not to that extent. I looked at oil to use and normal maintenance tuff for the warranty. I am glad I found your video and I just want to say nice bike.
You should use the high idle anytime you are letting you truck idle to prevent cylinder wash. Also if you run it at high idle with the exhaust break on it will heat up the interior quicker when it’s cold out.
The exhaust break has nothing to do with idle. It doesn't engage unless the rpms are falling.
I heard that if your truck is in Regen as long as it is at 1500 rpm it will complete regen instead of driving around till it ends ,just have to know when regen is going to start
I've been told many emergency vehicles or law enforcement vehicles have features to make them idle higher than factory to help in oil flow so cams and valve train related parts don't prematurely wear. Low idle might not be sufficient enough to get oil from the oil pan to the head and I don't think there is a problem with that.
It can be done with steering wheel controls, RAM has a video posted. I have 800 hours of idle time, with normal idle. 👍
The high idle feature is also for when the truck is idling for extended periods. Not enough heat generated in the combustion chamber at idle can cause cylinder washing(wet stacking). High idle prevents this.
i guess I am kind of off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream new movies online ?
@Kamryn Callen thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it !
Thanks just got this truck appreciate the info
My love has this truck 🖤 All black on black with custom wheels and lift with big ol wide set mud slinging tires 💜 Absolutely beautiful
High idel is just fine on a diesel, great video tho
If you have a pto on your transmission to run hydrologic stuff like a dumo bead, the increase in rpms lets the pump run more efficiently.
Good idea with the key!!
The high idle dont hurt it I've been doing it for years with no problems but good video
Exactly. Just burns more diesel. Helps your AC run a bit colder and your heat run hotter, too.
Just a heads up on the lock feature. I use to do this all the time with my truck at the gas station. Pull the key out lock it and go in and do what I needed to do. Until one day I did this, came back out and I couldn't unlock my truck with the key. I'm not sure if it's some kind of anti theft feature but the only way I was able to get back in my truck was with my other key fob. Which luckily my wife was able to bring me. So beware of that. I always carry my second key fob in my pocket now and just use it to lock and unlock the door when I run in somewhere.
@@robb15431 leave your truck running but remote lock and unlock. And if you ever lock your key inside you won’t be screwed.
I carry a second remote only during the coldest winter months because the traditional key lock can ice up if the conditions are right. It rarely happens but if it does you’re screwed.
@@robb15431 that's what I used to dom until the key inside my fob wouldn't unlock the door. Like I said, maybe it's an anti theft feature or something.
I just hit the lock button on my fob. Locks all the doors engine running.
Neat trick if you didn't know is you can hold the tip of the key close to the ignition and use your finger to turn it and the truck will run and drive without the key
That's what I do. 100% right. And you can use key fob to lock the truck. From outside or inside the car
This feature is originally for PTO option 😉
Your truck is tuned and deleted. We have the same tuner from raceme ultra. With your emissions deleted you can let it idle all you want. If you had the def system still installed then It would be bad for your truck :) hope this tip helps!
Any one know how to get at and remove the folding mirror motor on a 2016 2500 ram?
Idle up(fast idle) at 1000rpm it’s better than the idle for your engine and the feature need to be programmed in
High idle can also be good for running winch or any other high electric draw!
I live in Texas, and haven't seen this yet on my 6.7 2500. What air temp does this thing come on at?
I have a Mercedes diesel bus, that uses an intake heater, too, but even at 0 degrees F, I've never seen a light on it.
Idk my light comes on frequently and says voltage drop so idk could be something faulty
The high idle feature is really for one thing Diesel fuel does not burn as hot as gasoline so long standard. Of idling does not do well with diesel motors because the diesel fuel is not hot enough because the engine is not hot enough not all the fuel will burn and it will wash the oil off the cylinder walls and pistons in time which will create excessive wear All the idle up option is a while the engine to run faster to keep the engine heat up It's no different on big tractor trailers or those big ass motors same concept
That’s why they idle up
Why would you turn off your exhaust brake when in high idle? That actually warms up the engine & cab faster. The manual says this can be done and should be safe.
Yes I’m aware the exhaust brake is warm up function as well turned it off just so I could stress the high idle function without brake
Haha...easily solved by just making a spare key. No need to remove that "secret" key.
If you put your window down, then shut the door, reach in and lock it, then hit the one touch window up.
Literally a 9 minute video for 2 minutes about the diesel. Not what I was expecting.
Well...I got suckered. Clicked on this to find out about hidden features, and instead I got to listen to what i can only assume is his girlfriends sporty idling.
How did you keep your exhaust brake on automatically?
If the truck senses it’s cold enough and you have the exhaust brake button on auto or full it will continue to run as a warm up function
He has a race me tuner that will keep your exhaust brake on if it was left on in the last key cycle
@@orangehorizon5244 Is that one of the best tunes out there I always use my Exhaust brake and it’s a pain in the butt to turn it in all the time. I also want a tune that will allow me to get a better exhaust system that sounds like a real diesel truck. I really don’t want to do a delete do to where I live and my truck being brand new 2020 Ram 2500 Laramie mega cab night edition. I also bought an extended warranty and don’t want any issues! But it’s a must for exhaust!
I don’t care about the toys you have get to the point
If you let you engine idle at regular for extended periods (10 minutes or more) you get into cylinder wash which strips oil off of the cylinder walls. Idle up combusts fuel better and keeps wear down.
I let mine idle to 800 hours so far, and will continue to idle for long periods. Because MURRICA!🇺🇸🦅🤙
@@e.l.9589 I’m not saying shut it off, I’m saying rev it up. MMUUURRRIICCCAAAAA!!!!!!
@@8lugdrift550 I'm testing the theory of long hours, at normal idle. This scientific research study may take years to prove, but I'm a willing participant. 👍
@@e.l.9589 well if you’re saying you’re trying to kill a Cummins, good luck. I hope your theory is that it’s extremely hard to break.
@@8lugdrift550 I just think people overthink their vehicles from passed down information. I beat the truck daily, hard launches, heavy loads, long idle, etc.. Service every 60 days, and always set the parking brake in neutral prior to putting in park is my only religious beliefs. I've seen a transmission snap from not using the parking brake under heavy load, just rolled away (Coworker).👍
With that being said!
Diesel don’t like running at low idle
Idle up for PTO also
Ok 1st it's a sportster 🤣 2nd you shouldn't own a diesel, AUTO START BRO.
It’s not a hidden feature. Read your owner’s manual
I mean technically if it’s hidden enough that you have to search in the owners manual, then technically it’s hidden in the manual which In return makes it a hidden feature 😂😂😂
Waits for light to come on then takes to dealer for fuel filters..... what a rookie!!!
Not sure what exactly you’re getting at here….? Fuel filters and all work is done myself
Try the next video without saying with that being said. Thanks for the tips. Or just keep your other key fob in your pocket.
Is operating the vehicle with exhaust brake on ALL the time, bad for the truck?
I’ve seen some operate that way and haven’t heard any issues , don’t really know of any bad issues that arise from it, I use mine here and there but not all the time
@@Imoto23 how about the BS, "4 wheel drive shift in progress" that flashes on the dash, know anything about that? No one else seems to know...NO one
@@Gstark88 as far as putting it in I know you have to shift into neutral for it to complete the transition , and then neutral again when shifting out , complete pain in the ass I know that
TWO AND A HALF MINUTES OF BS. NOPE
SO!
BIG WASTE OF TIME
