Failed John Deere z915e Seat Upgrade [Don't buy TRAC SEAT from Amazon]

- I bought the "TRAC SEATS Seat Suspension Kit For Zero Turn Lawn Mower Tractor John Deere" from Amazon to hopefully upgrade my mowing experience on our John Deere z915e. This video shows the struggles we had getting it installed and the problems we have once it did get installed.
At this time I would not recommend buying TRAC SEAT from Amazon for a John Deere z915e.
The TRAC SEAT didn't have any bounce or added comfort AT ALL. It also raised the height of the seat by several inches which meant I would hit my head on the rops.
I wanted this to work but it simply didn't. If you are looking at a similar project I hope this video helps you and saves you some money.
Thanks
-Shawn
According to a Trac Seats video on their products page, the parts fitment/assembly sequence is: Remove seat assembly, remove seat sliders, attach suspension base to seat, attach and adjust sliders, tighten slider attachment bolts, attach assembled unit to tractor. At time 16:18 when you’re installing the seat, you can see the seat attachment bolts extending down far enough through the mounting plate to limit movement of the suspension plate. Finally, your statement at 10 minutes in the video sums it up. You stated “We may not do that. Trac Seats. Not your fault, you put it in writing… “. then conclude with the determination their product sucks.
Removing the slides has zero impact on the functionality of the suspension portion of the seat. In this case it isn’t limited, it doesn’t move at all. Thanks for the comment but we kindly disagree.
It’s actually has a big impact on the functionality. It’s an easy fix though. You have to remove the sliding tracks and attach them to the bottom of the suspension for the suspension to function. This creates the necessary 3/4” clearance between the bottom of the suspension and the mower to allow the suspension to suspend. The mower is blocking the moving parts of the suspension from moving. It says this in the description and video on Amazon. You don’t have to drill holes when you remove the sliding tracks too. I installed this on the same model John Deere and it works perfectly. Maybe this will help.
This guy is quite comical to watch 😂. He had me cracking up 😆.
Thanks for the comment.
You installed it wrong. The sliding tracks need to be attached to bottom of the suspension seat. You have them installed on the bottom of the seat. Thats why it doesn't work.
Thanks for the feedback. I took it all apart and got it working but went back to the seat from northern tool. My wife liked that one better.
I’ll add getting the short guy to cut your lawn will pay off 10 years down the road before back surgery needed. Ask any surgeon how many ole riding tractor lawn guys he braces back together. Sorry
The rops something not right about them they shouldn't lean forward that much.
"I'm not satisfied with this thing" says the guy who admittedly didn't measure, didn't follow the instructions and lost parts. No offense, man, but maybe spend a little less time gabbing in front of the camera and focus on the task at hand. I'm looking to make an informed decision about buying one of the suspension units and this was a total waste of time.
Thanks for watching
Its an awesome product when installed correctly.
Maybe. Just didn’t work for me
you don't come across as one of the brighter bulbs in the fixture
He sure is funny though 😂
Your roll bar has different settings, pull pin and move bar backwards one hole and put pin back in
so um yeah, that never occurred to me.
Your RoPs bar is wrong lmao
I bought a new pair of shoes. No instructions whatsoever on how to tie or untie the laces. I'm returning them, they're junk and useless.
Velcro man Velcro 😂👍
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching
the top half of your rops has been installed backwards
Nope. that's the way JD roll bars are.
A welder and some square/rectangular stander cheap tubing you could raise the rollover bar as high as you want. No welder around, the ole oversized/undersized tubing with nuts and bolts always works also. Cheap correct fix.
sorry about all the trouble your having first the old seat sides go under the trac suspension and the seat bolts straight to the trac suspension
Some people always need to build things twice 😂
Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Old seat+football helmet? Or short person does mowing again? Still available but my rates hold more value now. Hahaha
So is the seat worth buying?
For me it is not worth it
Did you end up getting the seat kit working?
Yes we did
I’ve bought one and they sent me another one beacause the first one was faulty but they both don’t work.
I installed them the same way .
Slider on bottom. Then kit then seat but it’s hard as a rock and like you I adjusted everything.
How did you end up getting it to work
@@Relaxsounds2024 there was a bolt I removed and it started to flex. I discovered this when I took it off and stood on it and realized the spring did move. So it was like a screw that I used to install was causing it not to spring
@@WoodwardAcresSo does it work "GREAT" now? Or in your opinion it's not worth it? I'm a big guy and was wondering.
I agree, I installed a tracseat and made a video on it, complete pain in the ass and waste of time, don't be fooled by the orange handle in the front. There are several different variants of those suspension platforms, all the ones you find on Amazon are absolute crap, there's hardly any travel and they are a nightmare to install. And all the people complaining that your rops are on backwards. Obviously they haven't operated a deer before, it only takes a second to Google the model number and look at images and find that they are installed correctly.
Thank you for the comment. I feel the same, or I can say it didn’t work for us.
could have saved money time and grief.....and it would only cost you 20$.......its called a "hard hat"....lol
Lol
