I'll never forget this match. Waterfords play to go into an 11 point lead was top drawer. They were giving us the run around. But our comeback was fantastic. Fantastic match.
The only 2 Munster championship games I ever attended was this one & the Waterford/Tipp semi final in 98, at the same venue. While nothing could match the Old Pairc Ui Chaoimh for atmosphere, the stadium itself was a death trap. I genuinely feared for my life with the crush I became caught in on the Blackrock terrace just after half time. The stewards lost control and only for the calmness & common sense of the people caught up in the middle of it there could have been a total disaster. Glad to get off that terrace alive that day.
Jim Carney was an excellent commentator, always added excitement & atmosphere to a game. Was probably coming to the end of his days with the Sunday game around this time, but had been there from the very start of the programme

This commentator was excellent. Ill never understand why he didnt commentate on more matches.
