    I just order one for Black Friday super excited to try NIU as my first scooter and looking forward to good results. I’ll be in the downtown Chicago area!

      Awesome! Hopefully the snow and winters weather keep away so you can get some riding in!

    Very informative.. Thanks.
    Small note: I think, you need to work with your microphone. At least, I heard a lot of breathing nice while you explain.

      Yes, I don’t know what happened and I’m not smart/skilled enough to fix it. Perhaps I was a little to excited about the scooter and getting a little hot and heavy in my breathing :-)

    I'm seriously considering this scooter. The only thing holding me back is no suspension. What are your thoughts for your use-case?
    My town (The canadian capital city) is riddled with potholes and bumps all over. I'm not sure it would be a comfortable ride...

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  Рік тому

      I haven't been to Ottawa in a while (assuming that's the city you're speaking about) but I think you'd probably want suspension if the roads are bad. I took a ride on the sidewalk the other day for a short while, and you feel the bumps. It's not "bad" in the sense that it makes the scooter uncontrollable, but if I had to ride more than a KM or two on a sidewalk it would start to get uncomfortable as you get the shock in your wrists, etc. and this is just typical sidewalk expansion joints.
      You could air down the tires to mitigate this to some extent -- my experience above is at the recommended 45psi -- but if you're planning on commuting and doing more extensive riding and your roads are in tough shape, I would think you'd be happier with suspension.

    Ordered mine on Black Friday… Just got it today… and it won’t turn on. I charged it for 8 hours… still nothing. Anyone else have this issue?

      @@TheBigHeavy Unfortunately it arrived on the weekend. I will reach out to customer service in the morning. I tried it again today and it flashed momentarily and then shut off again. I haven’t seen anyone struggle with some thing like this in any of the review videos I’ve watched

      I haven’t had that problem, but try hitting the screws with some blue locktite.

    Hills need a dual motor scooter generally

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  2 місяці тому

      I lost 20 lbs and that helped quite a bit, but if you want to move at more than a brisk trot you’re right that dual motors make more sense.

    Hello- what is the deck to handlebar height on this?

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  Рік тому

      Looks to be about 38” from the flat part of the deck to the bottom of the bars.

    I just got it 2 days ago and honestly disappointed from the pro almost no difference it almost like they stole money from us

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  Рік тому +1

      I’ve never rode the pro obviously, but there was a lot of hype around the Max that perhaps unfairly made it out to seem rather amazing. At the $800 sale price I’m fairly happy, but at the $1000 “normal” price I’d be a bit disappointed. I need to do more riding to get a handle on performance, etc. so the verdict is still out.

    NIU specializes in quality scooters so you won't be getting cheap Walmart type parts. If you want a scooter that'll make your bike cry, I suggest a Segway GT2.

  • @TroyCollier
    @TroyCollier Рік тому

    The battery alone is probabally about half of the cost or more. You want bike quality buy a $1000 scooter without a motor and battery. But you just said that...

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  Рік тому +1

      I still think baseline bike stuff is fairly cheap. You can get decent hydraulic brakes for like $40 and it’s probably less at volume. That said, the “generic” scooter stuff is probably a few bucks versus even $10, so I can see why they do it, but I’d pay $100 more for a bump up in components.
