- Here is PART THREE of my favorite characters Kristen Wiig has embodied . These roles are lesser known than the ones I included in Parts 1 & 2, but still show her incredible gift with improvising and throwing herself headfirst into the characters she created.

The best thing about her is she has a real range in not just doing celebrity impersonations, but in being a comedy actress. Her skits were among the most clever and original on SNL.

@Don Clark she's really funny but not nearly as funny as any of them. I can't think of any super-memorable characters she played, but I can name at least 5 memorable characters from those 3.

Her final episode, where she took turns dancing with cast members while the Rolling Stones played "she's like a rainbow" was amazing. I wish every cast member had such a meaningful farewell.
The *'Red Flag'* skit is a classic. 😂

I can’t choose. But she is an absolute treasure and we were so lucky to have her on SNL for the years she was.

I’m baffled that she hasn’t found more fame since leaving SNL. She’s seriously funny and talented.
Maybe she doesn’t want it? To me she’s extremely famous and recognizable, maybe she’s just taking time to enjoy her life and not obsessed with making MORE movies, shows, and money?

In Britain we don't get SNL, so to see these clips is a revelation.
She has immense versatility and natural comic timing.
And lately she has been in films playing straight roles.
Generally that's not easy for comedic actors to achieve, but it just proves how broad a range she has.

Back in the 80s when Carol Burnett did a couple of dramatic roles, she did an interview in which she said that it's often easier for comedic actors to do serious roles as a opposed to dramatic actors doing comedy because comedy comes from a dark place within us and great comedians are very much in touch with this part of ourselves so when they do portray this darkness in a real way (in other words, a dramatic role), they often excel at it just as well as their comedic performances, if not better. Since then, I often think of that interview she gave whenever I see a comedian do a very dramatic role and I am usually very moved and impressed by the performance.
Its weird that Britain doesnt get or barely know about snl ..yet ask anyone in the uk who keith lemon or demot oleary is and literally everyone knows..its maddening
SNL is all about sketch comedy and improv. Everyone hates it in the moment but loves it in retrospect, because they are perpetually missing the old players.
