Well, I found that it's easier to control the opacity and thiskness of this exact paint. You can apply the wet coat only but applying mist coat first will give you a good "base" layer, which helps second layer to lay down properly over it (like over primer or smth). Idk, maybe i overcomplicate the things but for me it's kinda easier to get good result
@@slcat Thanks, I searched for much other information. Basically, people are suggesting applying a mist coat first then a wet coat. You are right, I will try your method.
Hi! Just came across your videos, amazing work! I had a question regarding "wet paint" on the gloss black. is that achieved by increasing the PSI on the compressor or just going over it slowly?
Difference is an amount of paint on your surface. Surface tension effect is a key words here. It means your paint should formulate solid glass-like coat over the piece. No change PSI or anything. Just an application method. And type of paint and consistency is very important (hardly can achieve this with water based paint, you have to use solvent based to get maximum result)
@@slcat thank you! I'm using gaianotes as well but when I use the gloss black, it doesn't havey he same wet look as yours. This is my setup, if you could give me any advice I'd be very appreciative. - ratio between thinner and paint is 1:1 - psi is about 20 - needle size is an iwata 0.3mm Also, do you allow it to fully dry before putting on the gold highlight? Sorry for all the questions!
@@bakaduo2978 No problem, mate! My ratio for lacquers is about 1.8-2:1 Yes, it should be more thin to get better result. I'd say yu can take someone's advise for reference point, but you have to experiment with numbers to see how it works. The pressure is kinda fine but i'd say try 17 psi - enough for smooth spraying but also good pressure too let the paint lay down nicely on the surface. And no need to wait it for fully dried, 3-4 hours is enough (technically it dries after 1 hour but I'd say wait a bit more, lol)
For basic colors (lacquer paints) ratio is about 1.5-1.7 thinner to 1 paint. For metallics you have to use about 3-4 thinner to 1 paint. But it really depends on consistency out-of-the-bottle.
I really like your work, you do a great job describing your steps
Thank you!
Nice paint work... too bad my AB is shot so can't do any painting... would definitely check out ProMix
2:55, you said you applied a mist coat and then a wet coat.
Sorry, can you tell me why? Is there any difference between simply using a wet coat?

Nice! 😊 👍
Nice work
Thank you, sir! 😊
What’s your paint to thinner ratio, I am a beginner so I see a lot of videos that say half paint half thinner

@@slcat is the same ratio used for the clear colors ?
