Every moment that I spent in Shelley's presence was a gift. I am grateful that I had the pleasure of meeting her and her wonderful husband Walter. She will be missed.
I was one of those teenagers she talks about at the end. I have deep gratitude for the entire company of Will & Grace. Everyone: writers, producers, actors, editors, costumers, set builders. Everyone. They built something that allowed me to see myself in a safe space. It didn't matter that it was fictional. I saw myself in a story where I could be at peace with myself, to have no fear of danger in the world. And so, in some way, I made it my mission to follow through and live fearlessly like all four of those characters did. Mess up and learn from those mistakes. Find the humor and joy in things even if they're rotten. Be willing to be rigorously honest with the people I love. And so on and so forth. Recently, I keep hearing about these people who rewatch the series and find all the problems with it, in a 2022 context. All things considered, I think that says something about what the show did for us. I think that an original launchpad like W&G is allowed to sit back and exist iconically because it served a major purpose. You don't have to know what that feels like - you just have to respect it. If people are STILL talking shop about W&G in 2022, that means the show did what it was supposed to do-- which is, as Shelley says in this interview, "Say something." Truly, the biggest mistake they made was trying to come back. Nevertheless, what those first eight seasons did to change my life-- I will never forget them. Thank you Team Will & Grace.
To me, being "woke" means that you realize that you are aware that you share the same space with people who aren't even remotely close to being *exactly* like you, and come to the conclusion that you can either destroy those people, tear them down--and yourself right along with them--or embracing them, celebrating their differences while recognizing that your similarities go down to the very core of your being. Nowadays, it'd be nigh-impossible to produce a show like Will and Grace because it would be denigrated for being "woke," yet at the end of the day, it wasn't that big a deal that Will was gay and Grace had questionable tastes in employees and soul mates.(in Karen's case,both inhabiting the same body) Will and Grace was all about this group of people who were making their way through a complex and ever-changing world.

One of the best comedic actresses and characters in sitcom history! She deserved to win an Emmy for this role. Thank you for sharing not only your talent but your heart first each week and now daily in reruns. I was truly saddened you didnt come back for the revival. This interview confuses me even more as to why you didn't because you clearly were soulmates with this character. I am guessing it possibly was health related. With that being said, my favorite revival episode was the one on your character's passing. It's almost poetic you pass during the final season. There was bad blood between her and Megan. Back during the original run, Shelley spilled the details of Megan's wedding plans to the press and that caused a huge brouhaha. My guess is that Shelley also asked for a lot more money to return but, as she herself described Rosario, she was a "Fifth banana". The producers probably heard back from many viewers of the revival that they wanted Shelley back and so the producers simply decided to end that possibility by staging Rosario's funeral.

TENSIONS on the set of "Will & Grace" are running high after the show's "maid," Shelley "Rosario" Morrison, took it upon herself to spill the beans to the press about Megan Mullaly's secret wedding to longtime boyfriend Nick Offerman.
Mullaly and Offerman tied the knot the night before the Emmys. But on the day of the awards show, they had yet to figure out how to announce the marriage to the press.
"Megan went through all this trouble to fly everyone in for her 'Emmy party' the Saturday before the show - which, of course, was her secret wedding," our source said. "But she didn't get around to figuring out how to announce the wedding."
Morrison, who was not invited to the nuptials, was "begged" to not tell anyone. "Megan pulled Shelley aside on the red carpet and apologized for not inviting her," we're told. "Megan said it was so last-minute she forgot - and then told her not to say anything since they hadn't decided how to handle it in the press.
"Not two seconds later, as Megan and her new husband are crossing behind Shelley, Shelley walks right up to 'Entertainment Tonight' and announces that she has a bomb."
When "ET" crews didn't put Morrison on film, opting to corner Mullaly and get the word from her instead, Morrison then went to the crew from "Extra," who were more than happy to put her before cameras. "She ensured she would get some air time in the process," our spy said.
Some suggest that Morrison did it out of spite. While Mullaly's other co-stars, Debra Messing, Eric McCormack and Sean Hayes were invited to the wedding, Morrison was not.
"The wedding was strictly for family and close friends - and obviously, Shelley wasn't that close to Megan. This came after Megan stood behind her during the nasty shoplifting incident last year.
"It is really awkward on the set right now," our insider added. "No one is really talking to Shelley. It was Megan's marriage and she should have been the one to tell people."
A rep for the sitcom, Jamie French, didn't return calls.
