Regarding that debate, it's been my experience that few economists consider where the money comes from for GDP growth when talking macro trends. Missing that means that armchair economists around the world start converging on a shared outlook to a point that no one questions the origins of growth, even most experts.
It's also been my experience that being thoughtful or even correct isn't what gets you invited to the next debate or to be the expert news analysis shows call to be on the air. Producers of most shows aren't informed on any subject well enough to make informed decisions, rather they look for institutional credibility that audiences will recognise. But perhaps you've been invited back to debates, which indeed I is the case.

I remember those days when Americans were afraid Japan was going to dominate the world economically. Meanwhile, we were investing in the growing Pacific stock markets. Personally, that did not turn out well for me at all. I hope young investors will heed your warning to beware the dangers of fast-growing economies.
