Mr. Belafonte speaks with the tongue of wisdom and insight. Indeed, the degree of insight he possesses is very rare. This talk was recorded 27 years ago. What does Mr. Belafonte, who as far as I know is still very much alive, think of Donald Trump? He’s as right as rain about vested interests who do not want certain points of view presented.

yes, he is quite an amazing person all around, i remember as a kid being impressed by his good looks and how present he was on stage, he was really a role model to me, and still is.
i feel really honored to have seen him live, it is only now that i am older i get what a fighter he was and is, he is still speaking out for equality and the right thing.
he is simply amazing, and i will forever cherish the holidays with my parents where we listened to all the harry belafonte albums in the car.

this man is so amazing, and a great idol for me.
in 1997 i was 11 and went to my first concert with my parents, and it was him performing here in germany. it was so wonderful i refused to stand up when the show was over.
my classmates went to the backstreet boys and spice girls, and made fun of me when i told about a great concert by someone they didn't know.
i am so happy i was able to see and hear this legend and person.

A great man and so articulate. Last 2 minutes or so seem the most valuable to me (at age 81); hope I can take the same attitude in my own way and wish I had seen this at least 20 years ago.

I love Harry Belafonte. Besides Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy the greatest fighter for civil rights, peace and freedom.
And what a musician, what movies on stage - and also an attractive man years ago.

RIP Harry Belafonte. I wish modern comedians would uplift voices like his more often rather than spend time whining about how they're "not allowed to tell jokes anymore."

Not just now in 2024 but how many other times in history or the future is THIS message so needed?

diamonddog13 interesting you say this lol my prof just used his voice as an example for our “fluency and voice disorders” course .. she says this perhaps could be a case of diplophonia, where we’re hearing 2 different frequencies at a time. Sounds creepy to me 😂

SNL and MTV in NO WAY upset their Apple Cart !! The mere fact that Americans aren’t shocked by the words “ Anti-American “ says so much...
If you proposed to Italians that some Italians were ‘Anti-Italian’ , they would laugh in your face!
    The Soviet Union understands, however...

I guess you don't know many italians, so many despise the whole establishment and the living conditionsof today, and are critics of the country, and especially the disgusting politicians running it close to criminal power.

If at all possible, it would be great if you could post the controversial appearance to which Harry Belafonte is refering.

Harry Belafonte supported Bernie Sanders...why wasn’t that definitive to everyone?
Harry Belafonte explains everything with such clarity: ‘When Martin came out against the War in Vietnam...now he’s tinkering with ...”(the way they are running their: Empire).
    Mr. Belafonte, I ❤️ You.
You were there when I needed you most...when Donald Trump won the insanely powerful U.S. Presidency. What a beautiful night with Noam Chomsky, and the
    DemocracyNow Crew, and Patti Smith.
