I thought at first this was either a scheduled upload or from "Beyond The Grave" (said in a spooky voice as it will soon be Halloween). Then I say the replies here. Glad you are back Doc hope you don't get the long covid. Another informative video, thank you

I loved this excellent, very clear and informative video (except for the unnecessary background music, of course). In fact, I find ALL your videos extremely thorough, clear and very useful, indeed, and I also believe that they do NOT need any background sound at all. Thank you, Dr Vik Veer.

Great video as per usual! Do you think you could make a video outlining the typical training program to become an ent surgeon in the uk and any tips to get points for core training?

Thank you. My snoring is diminishing after your advice on how to do tongue exercises to stop snoring. As a result I am starting to sleep without interruptions. As a knock on effect I am feeling more energetic during the day and exercise more. Hopefully, both these changes will lower my cortisol and deflate my stress belly. 😊

Buteyko!!! There are UA-cam Videos and books on Amazon proving that proper breathing techniques cures OSA. Buteyko!!! These books are written by the most highly trained individuals possible. Even CNAs and chiropractors and plumbers! OSA experts I am telling you. Can you do a video on the theory and medical evidence? Great channel.

Hi Vik. Thanks for your videos. Do you maybe know if a sleep breathing disorder would perhaps cause excessive dreaming and a priapism? I suffer from both, the priapism is occurring throughout the night, waking me up constantly. Doesn't occur when I'm awake. I've had MRI and Doppler Scan and they can't find the cause. Home sleep study said moderate OSA and CA, was on APAP for 2 years, didn't help my sleep at all. Polysomn said no sleep apnea, but UARS. Dont know who to believe anymore. Still no answer to the heavy dreaming and priapism. Thanks

Good advice, but very regimented. No lie ins, no caffeine after midday, no booze, no eating 5 hours before bed etc etc. The problem with this regimen, is that people forget to live. I'd be more stressed out trying to keep to this this than just chilling out and living life.

I just found you from your chlestiotomas video. Your voice is so soothing. You should tell sleep stories! I'd definitely listen over here in Maine, USA!

Hi Vik, what do you think the state of sleep medicine is in the UK? If you ask me at the moment, very depressing. A sense of lagging behind, against say somewhere like Stanford. There needs to be some sort of sleep institute in the UK.

I think the length depends on your endurance. On average a marathon runner only needs 6 hours sleep.

You mentioned the effects of light a few times. Could you please address circadian rhythm and the various CR disorders. I think this might be one of the least understood and most often overlooked sleep disorder, probably because for most it’s relatively mild. But there are a few of us with more extreme versions. I’ve always been the proverbial night owl, but since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia it’s increased dramatically. I have to fight to keep a reasonable sleep schedule. At times it’s migrated to being completely reversed so that I fall asleep between 9 and 11 am. I can’t use light boxes because I’m also photophobic. Also, in regards to caffeine, I have the polymorphism that indicates a virtual immunity to its stimulative effects. However, you mentioned adenosine. Would caffeine still affect adenosine production even if it doesn’t affect my energy levels? I have little response to virtually all stimulants, which has made treating the fatigue side of my fibromyalgia incredibly difficult.

Sleep disordered breathing does get worse as you get older. Snoring is not normal.

Most of his videos are about that. But if you are aware of your snoring, it is best to go get a sleep study, not rely solely on youtube videos.
