Denmark has a number of old F16's, that are to be replaced with F35's from this autumn, so gradually I believe some of these will be given to Ukraine as their pilots get ready to operate F16 jets.

The F-16 has been in production almost for fifty years and is in the air force inventory of more than two dozen countries. There are about a dozen countries with multiple squadrons of F-16 able to give some of their F-16s to Ukraine. The former Eastern Block countries that are now part of NATO have very few Soviet era fighters left to give to Ukraine and are equip with F-16 or other Western made fighter jets.

This is not correct. The Ukrainian pilots in the US are a testbed only. They are being put in simulators to evaluate their capability to transition to particular aircraft in the US inventory (I assume the F-16) and the timeframe that it would take. The US cannot put foreign pilots, or flight crews, in actual training unless there is an agreement to sell or give those aircraft to the foreign entity. This is purely evaluation. What they need today are some of our 3000 ATACMS to hit the Kerch Bridge and airbases in Crimea and the Crimean land bridge.

The annexations of Crimea in 2014 then of territories to the east of Ukraine more recently at the end of 2022 are neither more nor less violations of Ukraine's territorial sovereignty by Russia.

No one doubts the determination and devotion of Ukrainian pilots, but how long does it take for flying an F-16 to become almost second nature, because this is what's needed in a fight. Also, those carrying out the maintenance need to be almost able to do it in their sleep, which also takes time. Does the Ukrainian air force have pilots, and support crew, that are up to speed. If so then we should give them F-16s, but if not then giving them more MiGs, with upgraded weapons would be a better strategy.

We in Sweden should give Ucraine some of our JAS 39 Griffin fighters.
Fighters that has been designed for combatting Russian aeroplanes.
They would fit the Ucraine airforce perfectly. Easy to operate and can operate from ordinary roads.
If Hungary doesn’t approve the Swedish NATO application soon i think we can give their JAS39 fighters to Ucraine instead.
They are a lease to Hungary from the Swedish government.
Ucraine are much more worthy of having those fighters.

No one questions the need of Ukraine’s Air Force to be upgraded- the problem is “ TIME” to train and to be combat ready. Flying a fly by wire aircraft is a totally different set of muscle memory for a pilot compared to a MiG. It is like transitioning a F-4 phantom pilot to a F-18 hornet- can be done but it takes time. Ukraine can transition but for her immediate war needs she needs DRONES and precision munitions and missiles to push Russia back.

Mig-29 is great as part of a airshow team ( and I mean it )
it sits down in the air more camly and not so tempramental as Su-27
In ukraine war dogfights do not happen ..... if it did happen Mig-29 can be bad the first seconds of fight but after 1 minute have passed it get lighter cause fuel being burned off and is very dangerous after that.
When western pilots trained against german former east german pilots the MiGs always had to be loaded down with extra fuel tanks and the german adversary squads did not complain but mensioned it.
But in a simulator the MiG 29 usually suck in the opening but quickly loose weight and becomes very dangerous.
But this is Ukraine war and they only using it as yet another platform to deliver missiles.

Reports from US fighter pilots involved in testing the F-16 against former East German Mig-29s back in the 1990s stated that while the Mig-29 is formidable in certain aspects, the F-16 is superior at speeds above 200 knots, has superior pilot visibility, is more manoeuvrable, and has far better avionics. Don't take my word for it. They're the actual fighter pilots who tested it. They stated that the Mig-29 was designed to scramble, jettison its tank (which is both "G' and speed limiting when carried), go supersonic, fire its missiles, then immediately go home. Also the Russians do not have air superiority over Ukraine even now.
