    For a hexagon (6-sided polygon), the perimeter is approximately 3.00 times the diameter of the circle. For a 12-sided polygon (dodecagon), the perimeter is approximately 3.06 times the diameter. Archimedes continued this process with more sides, getting closer to pi's true value.
