I love the addition of stuff like the "Hotel" sign in Station Square. Subtle differences that make even someone who's played the game hundreds of times stop and think "wait, is that normally there?" It adds to the atmosphere.
I think this episode confirms that whatever is happening to this copy of Sonic Adventure is *not* intended by the developers. The fact the game says "Irregularity Detected" and then when it does reboot it goes straight to the Amy loading screen and into a test map... really makes me think whatever Tikal is doing is starting to break the game apart.
Then why did all the ‘pre release’ material have details that fit the plot of this? Is Tikal that specific?…. Tho she is the one providing tutorials so she would know….

Gotta catch em all, I guess... -the fact that Amy said Sonic was "missing" worried me a bit, but judging by the end graphic, I think we're down to him, Tails, and Amy. Rip Big -on that note, if Amy isn't captured, that's great, but...where did she end up? She went through the Master Emerald, and ended up in a test map. -under hints, Tails was looking at that machine that triggered the Terios Easter Egg. Does that have something to do with all this, I wonder? Could it be why Sonic is missing? -Beta Spider lady is communicating with Tikal? The plot becomes more meta still...
i LOVE that the spider girl got added omg!!! She feels like the perfect inclusion alongside Terios!!! The musical score at her reveal scene really seems to imply she's definitely pulling the strings here too for sure. I like to call her Nails, because she - alongside another character, who i'll get to in a sec - helped to inspire Rouge, & Nails was Rouge's beta design name (like how Terios was for Shadow). This is why Rouge's first upgrade is called the Pick Nails, as a cute little reference to that!! & speaking of that other Rouge inspiration character, he's also a scrapped character from SA1, so I'm guessing he'll probably appear sometime too... I'm talking about Flyhigh the Bat, by the way!! Sometimes just known as Fly the Bat. His full design can be found on the Sonic Wiki under the "scrapped characters" section. Apparently he also appeared in another game called Astro Glider or something? But for the life of me, I could NOT find just about anything on Google when I searched it up before. So I don't know. I have a cute little headcanon though about "Nails" & Fly, which is that they're Rouge's parents, hehe. She takes after Fly in terms of species & perhaps general abilities, but takes after the spider girl in terms of just about everything else. Some other cool things to note about them as well: Spider Girl was planned to perhaps be some sort of famous singer? I think? Which could be why there were posters made for her that appear in Speed Highway Act 3, in a demo build. As for Fly, he was planned to be a sort of rival to Knuckles, in a sense (another thing Rouge "inherited" lol), which is why there's concept art of him gliding & climbing walls like Knuckles. Ultimately though, both characters were scrapped because the developers decided they would probably look too scary to the particularly younger players of the game; especially Fly, since he was described as having a "pig-nose design" and had black scleras in his eyes, which, alongside his overall dark black/purple color scheme, perhaps made him look sort of demonic to some people. With Spider Girl though, the only thing that would really give away her, um, "species"/"animal" type is that she has an extra pair of arms. So with her, perhaps she was just treated as a sort of "Eh, there's not really a place for her in the story, she doesn't need to be included" type of thing. An important thing to remember here is that each of the main 6 playable characters in SA1 follow a certain gimmick/gameplay style: Sonic is the normal gameplay you'd usually expect from the overall franchise, Tails is racing against Sonic (or Eggman, for Speed Highway), Knuckles is treasure hunting, Amy is "survival horror" (sounds dramatic but that is still what its technically called lol), Big is fishing (added for the sake of having some nice contrast to Sonic's high-speed action), & Gamma is a shoot-'em-up time limit sort of thing, where you get more time to complete the stage with each badnik you defeat. So, with that all being said, it stands to reason that Fly's whole "gimmick" would just be that of Knuckles, hence he would be better suited for something like SA2, where its 6 characters but only 3 gameplay styles, meaning 2 speed characters, 2 mech characters & 2 treasure hunters. They wanted to include bits of the Spider Girl character's whole aesthetic & such too of course, so they basically crossed the two character concepts together, & thus, came along "Nails", which would then be Rouge. What's interesting about this video though is that this is the first level where Tikal appears... & is obviously chasing them. & it makes perfect sense of course, since Amy's whole gimmick in SA1 is running away from Zero chasing her (playfully ironic nod to how Amy is usually the one chasing Sonic, & for completely different reasons, of course). Not to mention; you know how I said Fly had the same planned gimmick as Knuckles? Well, the thing is, Spider Girl didn't seem to really get far enough into development to have a planned gimmick at all. So if the Spider Girl character in this video series is sort of presumably self-aware in a sense, maybe she's jealous of the "main"/playable characters & such (think Monaka from DDLC perhaps), which is why she's leading Tikal into capturing all of them, basically. She could be more bitter about having been scrapped than Fly or Terios are (or, well, would be, if they knew what was going on), because at least they were given actual gameplay ideas. So in comparison, Spider Girl looks like a sort of decoration, almost. & if she was meant to be a celebrity in-universe, then she'd possibly feel robbed of her spotlight. (Also, the way she spoke to Tikal sounded so reminiscent of when Rouge first speaks to Eggman & Shadow on The Ark in SA2. Especially the "I may be able to help you" line. & I can totally imagine her having the same vocal cadence & such as Rouge, of course.) I love the little editing cues & such though. Like how Amy's flicky disappears when she enters Emerald Coast. & since we know Tikal is chasing them, it works as a subtle cue to how she must have captured the bird. Yes, even the flicky! Is it because he has a Chaos Emerald? Is it because he's technically "playable-character-adjacent" on account of following Amy? Is it because Tikal simply threw a Pokéball at it? Perhaps only time will tell.
I think the biggest jumpscare for me was to recognize the music when Amy is first playable here as I WANNA FLYYYY SKY HIIIIIIIGH from Daytona USA but instrumental
...aaaand on top of that, the devkit Dreamcast intro. That actually feels like a cool likely intentional detail about this being played by a copy from a developer or by one, which can make sense if this is a beta copy...but does bring the question of whether the devs andlor entire team are aware of these... irregularities.

For example, something like "Unhandled exception at 0x03AB21AC" or even error codes specific to the Katana "ERR_MEM_ALLOC" (iirc), and maybe you could use that to point towards something very indirectly.

Best guess I have for the possible reason/cause is... _maybe_ due to another player character already starting up that stage and running around in it? It's the best guess I can give with how Amy followed Big into Emerald Coast and how it started at the tail-end of the stage. Though if that's true... then that would also mean that someone else was present in that screwy beta area? In the latter case, was it Tails or possibly even Sonic, or does that timer rule apply to Tikal as well? (Might likely be Tails with how the very end of the vid showed him heading to the Master Emerald Shrine) SPEAKING OF WHICH... -Looks like my previous question about whether Tikal can pursue the playable cast into Action Stages or not has been answered ._. God, I felt my freaking stomach drop when I was greeted with 1:14, that 'Tikal Radar' appeared, that music started up, and I kept hearing jumping sounds not far behind either player character. Additionally, I couldn't help but notice that Amy's extra life count was at 3 in the emerald coast stage, whereas it was down to 1 in the beta test area. No idea what significance that has, if any. -Couldn't help but notice that the Flicky that accompanies Amy just completely disappears once Amy enters Emerald Coast. I had initially figured that maybe Amy getting teleported to the Master Emerald shrine after opening the animal capsule was due to that Chaos Emerald in it's necklace, but now I'm not so sure. -Going off from that, it was certainly a perplexing and slightly unsettling sight seeing the Master Emerald shrine restored to it's past appearance in the present. I can only wonder about the implications of that and also noticed how unlike in the past, there didn't appear to be any Chaos Emeralds surrounding the shrine either. -4:23 Okay, yup, Scrapped Easter Egg is DEFINITELY canon to this series, takes place after Tikal is freed, and indicates that Sonic was teleported off to somewhere unknown after activating that Easter Egg with Tails only able to watch. Still unclear if Terios is an actual player in this/is gonna play an actual role. -going off from this, we're greeted with the surprise reveal that Tikal was likely watching the two during that portion of the video but didn't try and go for either of them, topped off by the shocking revelation that Tikal is _NOT_ the mastermind here and is, in fact, being taken advantage of/manipulated by that cut Spider chick from SA1's beta! Far as I can tell, she seems to be manipulating/guiding Tikal into hunting down the rest of the playable cast. To what end, that's very unclear currently, but it certainly recontextualized Tikal here as someone that, while certainly dangerous and undeniably an antagonist as things are now, is now simultaneously notably more sympathetic and closer to her SA1 characterization. -There was also that switch that appeared at the top of the Mystic Ruins pyramid, the same location where Tikal was freed/unlocked. No idea what it's purpose is though, especially with how it wasn't present in the video where she was freed. Still, certainly worth noting that between the three remaining playable characters left, Sonic, Tails, and possibly Amy with her agility displayed in this vid could probably reach it... though I'd personally HATE to go down to those ruins/woods with what happened to Knuckles ._. If any of them do gotta go down there, I hope they tread lightly... -Both the referencing to Scrapped Easter Egg and the shot of Tikal from the end of the beta trailer definitely makes it clear that the events of these videos are proceeding in order. Certainly a good thing to know. -FINALLY!... looks like all of us who assumed that Big could be the unlikely hero who saved us all were dead wrong ._. Tikal definitely got his soul with no doubt about it with the head count we got at 6:20. Still, honestly very glad Amy escaped after seeing the tragic fate that befell her in RoxasWhite's prey video. With how my fav character Knuckles was the first victim in all this, I'm holding out hope that she and Sonic in particular make it. (No offense to any Tails fans ._. Hope he makes it too.) Alrighty, I think that's everything that comes to mind after what happened here. Another wonderfully eerie product that thickens the mystery further, and I can't wait to see how things continue to develop!
I'm normally not one for analog horror type content, but I've been loving this series so far. Something about the mods used and really just the overall presentation and theming creates such a unique atmosphere, it feels almost cozy in the horror aspects. Keep up the great work (:
I’m glad that although this is becoming an ARG/Analog Horror series (something that has unfortunately been oversaturating YT with low quality), it’s done with your really impressive artistic vision- as a unique take on the beta footage genre as well.
Real talk this video likely proves that the story intentionally breaks continuity or is atleast not following conventional time flow with the Dreamcast bios being shown instead of a bios for the Saturn as well as the fact that proto shadow showed up in a prior video with his modern sonic based design.
I think Tikal is either herself is possessed Or She is looking for souls and using the guidance of the scrapped character to do some kind of “good thing” as Tikal isn’t a bad person but it seems like she is being manipulated to do something she thinks will ultimately be a good thing only to turn out she has done something bad
I really hope this gets released as a mod, since now custom storylines with fully custom cutscenes are now possible. I also really like the modifications done to the maps. That "Hotel" sign fits so well there.

In an alternate universe, where Sonic Adventure was a totally different game than it is now. Also, made for the SEGA Saturn, no less! A much less powerful system housing a fully 3D game like this…would be phenomenal to pull off!
I watched 'Alternate Knuckles Route' thinking this was just another "guys real beta but scary" thing like those Mario 64 videos, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how deep this whole thing goes with Tikal.
This series has the best of both worlds. The creator gets to show off their game making skills and tell a spooky story, appealing to two audiences at the same time, and I'm part of both! What are the odds?

Like, why is this Spider-girl trying to manipulate Tikal to capture all of the characters souls? Is it to rule the world? Or is it to replace the cast with brand new ones? But yeah beta 510 is basically a earlier version of sonic, the hedgehog CD And beta 510 has slight differences like the title screen, palmTree Panic past (salad plain past) But by major difference palmTree Panic past is a bit faster then salad plain past. -Couldn't help but notice that the Flicky that accompanies Amy just completely disappears once Amy enters Emerald Coast. I had initially figured that maybe Amy getting teleported to the Master Emerald shrine after opening the animal capsule was due to that Chaos Emerald in it's necklace, but now I'm not so sure.
-Going off from that, it was certainly a perplexing and slightly unsettling sight seeing the Master Emerald shrine restored to it's past appearance in the present. I can only wonder about the implications of that and also noticed how unlike in the past, there didn't appear to be any Chaos Emeralds surrounding the shrine either.
-4:23 Okay, yup, Scrapped Easter Egg is DEFINITELY canon to this series, takes place after Tikal is freed, and indicates that Sonic was teleported off to somewhere unknown after activating that Easter Egg with Tails only able to watch. Still unclear if Terios is an actual player in this/is gonna play an actual role.
-going off from this, we're greeted with the surprise reveal that Tikal was likely watching the two during that portion of the video but didn't try and go for either of them, topped off by the shocking revelation that Tikal is _NOT_ the mastermind here and is, in fact, being taken advantage of/manipulated by that cut Spider chick from SA1's beta! Far as I can tell, she seems to be manipulating/guiding Tikal into hunting down the rest of the playable cast. To what end, that's very unclear currently, but it certainly recontextualized Tikal here as someone that, while certainly dangerous and undeniably an antagonist as things are now, is now simultaneously notably more sympathetic and closer to her SA1 characterization.
-There was also that switch that appeared at the top of the Mystic Ruins pyramid, the same location where Tikal was freed/unlocked. No idea what it's purpose is though, especially with how it wasn't present in the video where she was freed. Still, certainly worth noting that between the three remaining playable characters left, Sonic, Tails, and possibly Amy with her agility displayed in this vid could probably reach it... though I'd personally HATE to go down to those ruins/woods with what happened to Knuckles ._. If any of them do gotta go down there, I hope they tread lightly...
-Both the referencing to Scrapped Easter Egg and the shot of Tikal from the end of the beta trailer definitely makes it clear that the events of these videos are proceeding in order. Certainly a good thing to know.
-FINALLY!... looks like all of us who assumed that Big could be the unlikely hero who saved us all were dead wrong ._. Tikal definitely got his soul with no doubt about it with the head count we got at 6:20. Still, honestly very glad Amy escaped after seeing the tragic fate that befell her in RoxasWhite's prey video. With how my fav character Knuckles was the first victim in all this, I'm holding out hope that she and Sonic in particular make it. (No offense to any Tails fans ._. Hope he makes it too.)
Alrighty, I think that's everything that comes to mind after what happened here. Another wonderfully eerie product that thickens the mystery further, and I can't wait to see how things continue to develop!

I'm normally not one for analog horror type content, but I've been loving this series so far. Something about the mods used and really just the overall presentation and theming creates such a unique atmosphere, it feels almost cozy in the horror aspects. Keep up the great work (:

Real talk this video likely proves that the story intentionally breaks continuity or is atleast not following conventional time flow with the Dreamcast bios being shown instead of a bios for the Saturn as well as the fact that proto shadow showed up in a prior video with his modern sonic based design.

In an alternate universe, where Sonic Adventure was a totally different game than it is now. Also, made for the SEGA Saturn, no less! A much less powerful system housing a fully 3D game like this…would be phenomenal to pull off!
I watched 'Alternate Knuckles Route' thinking this was just another "guys real beta but scary" thing like those Mario 64 videos, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how deep this whole thing goes with Tikal.
This series has the best of both worlds. The creator gets to show off their game making skills and tell a spooky story, appealing to two audiences at the same time, and I'm part of both! What are the odds?
