Wonderful. I drove down from Shropshire in a 1979 Mini to this meeting just to watch the Jags. Happy memories. Thanks for sharing your video.

Screaming Jags, rumbling Mercs. Great cars, great track, great days. Thanks so much Barry.

I was there that day with my family, absolutely incredible, the very high pitched scream of the Jags and the really low rumble of the Mercs will stay with me forever, these machines were really driving on the edge, all kudos to those superb drivers, if only F1 was this exciting!

Ahh! I remember it well. An absolute classic race. Jags were a little lucky to inherit the lead after the Mercs got snarled up with a backmarker but hey, It was a British race and a British car won! If I remember correctly, John Watson was trying new 48 valve heads which sounded stupendous. Only trouble was, the extra weight on the top of the engine threw off the rear-end handling so it was a tad slower than the other Jags and ultimately it retired with valve timing issues. A brilliant day at the best circuit in the world, nevertheless.

Great stuff as always Bal. The power of those cars climbing up the hill out of surtees, nice. Brilliant era, i still have a toy tin car of a silk cut Jag somewhere that i used to play with all the time.
Always interesting to see Clark curve without the MSV centre there, looks like it took away a really good viewing spot for looking across Clearways.
    Cool stuff mate.

The Jaguar is awesome. I'm so glad I worked for TWR in those days. Wonderful memories. And yes the Sauber Mercedes was great, but I worked for Tom, so Go Jaguar 🙂 I recently sold my XF Jag to buy a dog. Yes I traded my 3 litre twin turbo XF for a Dalmatian 🙂 I miss the car, but I LOVE the crazy puppy dog 🙂
