Thanks for the comment Barry, I think you would enjoy building and using the K1.Follow the instructions to the letter.Take your time and you will have a lovely qrp radio.Quite possibly the best!I wish I showed in my demo the different filter bandwidth settings instead of just mentioning them. Sandy
nice demo, i wish elecraft would do this and be able to ask questions, i'm an old guy and this rig is blowing my mind. everytime i use it i have to have the manual at my side. the K1 has an excellent receiver.
A great little rig the K1, it would good to know if it is still in working order after 12 years? I won’t be surprised if it is you look after your kit 👏
Hi there Sandy, Excellent demo. I'd never heard of the Elecraft K1 until I saw your review video. Now I want one, hi. I'm gonna write to Santa. Merry Christmas. 73, Paul G4JNN
@franziski71 I have no experience of the Hendirks PFR3 but have seen videos by NG9D and it looked a lovely qrp radio. However,I am very pleased with my K1 and would recommend it to any CW enthusiast..
Sandy I some how have missed this gem of a radio review. I wanted to let you know this brand of radio is built by the company literally about 5 blocks from my home. Small world I say. I want to ask you a favor mate if I may. Do you think this would be a good radio for a person who is starting out to do Ham radio in the 20 and 40 meter bands? Or should I invest in a Yaesu 817 or even a more expensive 857 as they both do 10 meters and 6 meter bands. What would you suggest?
Elecraft is a superb company and they have a good support system for builders. As they are close to you I would say definately look into some of their kits. The performance of Elecraft radios is right up there with other top brands. Provided you have a steady hand for soldering and have good eyes and can follow instructions then you can build an Elecraft kit.
Wiltshire Man Sandy but would you say a K1 would be decent to start out with over buying a much more expensive Yaesu 817 or 857 which will run me roughly 400 dollar to 500 dollars more then this K1 unit. Which would still a lot me enough money to buy a power supply auto tuner and a decent antenna as a complete system? The only downside I am seeing is that I would not be able to do the 10 meter and 6 meter bands that the Yaesu's models can do. Also it may be a silly question but these do voice transmission not just the CW correct? sorry for the questions and I appreciate your time answering those couple of questions. I dont have any local radio clubs here so it is difficult to ask other radio people other then here. Thank you Sandy.

Still in working order John but it's quite a bit older than 12 years. I built this little rig back in 1999 in my old qth of Osbourne street
