The layout reminds me so much of El Toro even though they aren't the same, just the way it's set up. Also that tree monster, a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
i had the luck to ride and operate the old colossos before she was closed for 3 years and even before the park installed trim brakes on the coaster ... before the makeover happened she had the old heavy trains like balder or the one in korea and i really miss the airtime colossos once had ... i rode el toro a few weeks ago and i feeled the airtime again colossos once had but without the first drop the first half of el toro feels totally like colossos and i loved it !
The robust acceleration in the first curve at 0:52 was so unexpected when I rode it, it made the anticipation of the 1st drop the scariest part of the whole coaster.
My parents and I were there a few weeks ago. My brother (13) and I (14) both rode it... that was our first ride in our lives I had the feeling I was dying but to be honest I would ride it again xD I was shaking like hell afterwards but the long wait at extreme heat and fear of the start was worth it My parents didn't dare to go up there My brother and I sat in the back...if someone in the front or the middle should read it...how was it for you guys?(translated with google)
I didn't ride it since the retrack.. It was one of the best airtime coasters shortly after opening, then they added trims and it became quite "boring".. I wish they would just get rid of the trims alltogether..
I used to say the same thing (when I was a kid, some coasters pushed close to 7G), but I'm glad about them these days. Turned 47 recently, and Kärnan's first drop at Hansa Park hurt my back. We oldtimers couldn't ride safely without the trims, sorry you have to endure a boring ride because of us. ^_^
After opening in 2001, the coaster became faster and faster. At some point it got so bad that the coaster was 20% faster than the calculations before construction. The train then constantly displayed "train too fast" in the operator status. The TÜV did not like this, which is why 3 trim brakes were installed at the time. However, these did not bring the desired result in the long term because the train was still going too fast. So now after retracking so many trim brakes were installed that really ruined the airtime.
I remember watching POVs of this ride on the TPR dvd's (being a coaster enthusiast in the mid 2000's)... and being blown away by this ride as well as Balder at Liseberg on the same DVD. It was one of my favorites; and that was before they put in that awesome dragon encounter! Had no idea they'd done that. It's brilliant!
This is practically the same track plan as The Mighty Canadian Mine Buster at Canada's Wonderland, north of Toronto. Though the MCMB's helix is enclosed and the track after the helix is much shorter, not offering the additional enclosure and fire effects. Great ride...Lots of air time.
It wasn’t there when it opened. They added it in the recent years. Didn’t get the point either, but since Heide Park is slowly evolving into a theme park, it might make sense in the end.
Heide Park is owned by Merlin who also own Alton Towers. I think they definitely rethemed this to be in a very similar style to Wicker Man with the large structure on both and red lighting.
The Wicker Man idea is done so much better on this ride though... the build up is longer, the fake track is a neat trick and the flames add to the spectacle.
Beide relativ unterschiedlich. Der erste Drop ist bei Colossus einfach brutal und das Waldmonster geil designed, aber Wodan hält sein Tempo einfach unglaublich gut und ist sogar einen Tacken intensiver
I have no Idea why but ive felt nothing in the hills - everybody else does, guess im just different i guess - Still a great ride! You should definetly try it out if you get the chance to
it is! I've ridden it 15 to 20 times and it's a huge experience every time! The air time hills (especially the first two) really make you lift off the seat (-1.5G per hill)
It never happens, if they did it, it will be a First Giga Hybird Coaster, they never did it because of the force, airtime, the restraint can't handle the airtime, so people will slightly fly off and die, that's why it never happens
That lifthill is PURRING and I need a 10 hour version of that xD
Other than that, it's a really great ride, went on it last year.
The lift hill sounds soooo good.
I know Heide Park doesn't get a lot of love in Germany, but this and Flug der Dämonen are honestly pretty great rides.
