  • Liberal Senator Alex Antic has slammed an inner-city Adelaide council for scrapping January 26 Australia Day community events without consulting ratepayers.
The City of Unley is among four South Australian councils that have shifted their citizenship and awards ceremonies from January 26 in recent months, voting in May to hold its ceremonies the evening before instead.
“Every day Australians, the quiet Australians have to get back into the political fight,” Mr Antic told Sky News host James Morrow.
“These things take root at local government level and before you know it you’ve got local councillors telling us whether or not we can have an Australia Day celebration on January 26.
“Get stuffed, we’re having it, so that’s the way it is.”

@@Aussie4Freedom1 He'll have to drop to the lower house....and needs to be voted, and not parachuted into a seat, for that to happen. But it's a nice thought. Others have thought that about Jacinta too, for the same reasons, but she too, would have to be elected into the lower house. And she won't leave her home in her beloved NT. So they'll have to find a retiring house of reps member in the NT.

On 9 September 1987, Premier Joh Bjelke Petersen, gave a speech to the Queensland Parliament, in which he accused Bob Hawke and his Government, of pursuing a subversive and authoritarian agenda bent on stripping Australians of all their democratic rights and freedoms.
The main target of Joh’s attack was the planned National Identity System - the ‘Australia Card’ - which he said would impose ‘Big Brother’ controls over all Australian citizens.
“I RISE ON A MATTER OF GRAVE AND FAR-REACHING CONSEQUENCE TO THE COUNTRY THAT WE ALL LOVE AND HONOUR”
I refer, of course, to the threat by the insidious and unAustralian Hawke Labor Government to impose upon every man, woman and child in this country a form of institutionalisation that is unknown in the free world.
The matter at issue, is the arrogant determination of the ALP people in Canberra to introduce what they like to call the Australia Card-a name they hope will play on patriotism.
I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO OPPOSED THE SYSTEM AT THE FIRST SUMMIT ATTENDED BY MR HAWKE AND OTHERS.
On that occasion I told them quite clearly that I was completely against the system because of what it meant and what it represented.
In real terms, the proposal could mark the end of the Australian democratic heritage for which men and women in generations past have given their lives to protect and preserve.
In effect, everyone would become just a number.
The Government can call it what it likes-the Australia Card or a national identification system-but by any name it is a plastic tattoo upon every Australian to mark every one of us for the control of our lives, in the grand socialistic ideal to which that luminary of the Fabian society, R. J. L. Hawke, is completely committed. If you do not have this card you will not be able to get a job, sell or buy property, sell primary products & YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO A HOSPITAL.
The arrogance of the Prime Minister, who postures as a man of consensus, invariably against a backdrop of the national flag, seeks to destroy Australia by progressively shifting this land of freedom towards a rigid and totally regulated, (socialist republic).
It is a frightening piece of legislation.
My government will oppose the Australia Card with every means at their disposal.”

While the Yes vote is collapsing, the question should be asked: how the hell did something so absurd ever gain this level of traction in the first place?
Honestly embracing a group's cultural ancestry to such an aggressive degree, and using this cultural ancestry as an excuse, is clearly pretty racist.
Equally blaming some other culture, and those belonging to this differing cultural ancestry is clearly and unquestionably racist.
Equality, egalitarianism, fairness, justness, and equitability are non-discriminatory, evenhanded, and unprejudiced.
The opinion that the colour of your skin, or the antecedents of an individual are the defining factors is narrow-minded, backwards, bigoted, racist, discriminatory, prejudiced, unfair, and insulting. Yet it's been the dominant thinking in the Australian government, Universities, the Australian media, (particularly the ABC) and general public discourse for decades.
