    Goff didn't come through? Ridiculous.
If Josh Reynolds catches 4th and 2 w'er probably discussing a Lions victory today and how great Goff is. If Vildor picks of Purdy's terribly thrown pass that ended up in a catch that went for 51 years we're talking about Purdy crumbling under the pressure. That's not on Goff. Reynolds also dropped a crucial 3rd and 10 balls that Goff threw perfectly.
Goff is a leader. He's mentally tough. He's elite.

A loss like this can make or break a team for years to come, I honestly believe this is going to drive us all offseason. We got by with some glaring weaknesses this season and it finally caught up with us, last year we made a big jump, this year we made a huge jump and if we can continue to draft well and upgrade a few positions we will be better! 🦁🏈

This game will be the same as 1991. Everyone knows who and what the Lions are now (gamblers that can't be told no). The Lions had a window, but that window is twice as small now. Brett Farve came in and closed it in 91, Jordan Love will do the same here.
I'm almost 100% sure we missed our chance. If they pay Goff $40 mil, it's a guarantee.

AGREE 100%, One of the easiest roads to the Championship I can remember with games against down Rams team and a lucky Tampa team. This was their one shot at it most likely. This season the Lions only beat one or two teams with a winning record when they played them and the Lions were basically healthy all year. They won't be so lucky again.

Didn't the 49'ers lose last year in the NFC championship game to the Eagles? How did that work out for them? Goff meanwhile balled out all playoffs.

It's definitely the case that the ball bounced the 49ers way in the game. I agree with you completely about Goff, he didn't really do anything wrong. I do think that Campbell needs to just accept situational realities and take the points your offence has earned. I know he wants to change the momentum but when you fail to make the 4th down play you hurt the momentum even more. At least with 3 points the team can feel like that got something out of the possession. The bottom line is that those points would have made a difference, so clearly it was a mistake not to take them.

I'm sorry, what? Goff didn't come through when it mattered? I didn't realize Goff dropped those passes he hit the WR's hands with. I didn't realize he dropped that TD pass that hit JAMO in stride and in the end zone. I didn't realize he dropped that 4th and 3 pass to Reynolds that hit both his hands. Just a dumb take. Peyton Manning couldn't have won that if his WR's dropped as many passes as they did in the second half. What a stupid take.

The lions are probably going to lose their offensive coordinator and maybe even the defensive coordinator to head coaching jobs within days so next season is going to be very difficult especially repeating as the North Division champion.

@antonS2166 That's right, but their offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is special and very innovative. He will be hard to replace with someone of the same caliber.
Their defensive coordinator, Aron Glenn, was hampered by not having top-tier DBs, but the defense rallied around his personality and leadership. He's another guy that's going to be hard to replace with someone on the same level.
I hope you're right, but don't expect anywhere near the same well thought out intricacies and set-up plays on offense, with a new coordinator, especially the trick plays.

As a Steelers fan I felt sick to my stomatch watching the Lions blow that lead.
Also definitely not Dan Campbell's fault they lost. That first fourth down conversion the ball was plain dropped and then the team caught a case of the drops. That terrible ball through the hands for an easy interception would've saved them another 7. That second 4th down attempt I think I personally would've taken the points but still can't blame them for trying they literally had the first one had Reynolds made the makable catch.

This second half problem could have been forecasted. The Lions were 5th and the 49ers were 3rd in scoring this season. The problem for the Lions Ben Johnson run offense is they don't score much in the 3rd quarter of games. In fact they were ranked only 20th in 3rd quarter scoring. So with the 49ers getting the ball to start the second half and the Lions predictable flatness in the 3rd quarter all this played out by the numbers. The media ask Campbell mid-season about this problem of not scoring in the 3rd quarter. He did not want to talk about it. Well, they didn't fix it and it cost them the trip to a SB. Maybe the Commanders or Seahawks will ask Ben Johnson why his offense comes out flat in the second half of games. Go Lions!

Lions need to bring Stafford back rather than extending Goff at the 40-45 million per year he will want and get. Goff did really good this year. But you give Stafford the best offensive line, best run game, top 5 receiver/tight end combination to go along with an above average defense he is winning you a Super Bowl. And the Lions can give Stafford that for the next 2-3 years. They must be aggressive. Winning in Detroit has always been the biggest dream for Stafford. But it wasn’t possible until now. Now it’s time for a Lebron to Cleveland style return. Rams would do it if he came to them and told them he either wants to return to the Lions or retire. As long as the package is good enough the Rams will trade him. To play for Detriot he would likely take a pay cut and play for only 30 million a year with it structured so that a big chunk is paid 3-4 years down the road. Goff wouldn’t do this. He will demand maximum value just like he did with rams. On this market he will get 40-45 million a year.
    Lions get
    Stafford
An additional 10-20 million in cap space
    Inevitable Super Bowl
    Rams get
    2024 second round pick
    2024 fourth round pick
    2025 first round pick
Rams could sign Wentz back and draft Bo, Mcarthy or Penix Jr to play behind him. This deal would work for both sides just like last time

Someone needs to be next to him and “talk him down off the ledge” as they say. You’re on the road you always take the points when you can. The first FG he opted out of probably psychs out the Niners. Bring it back to 17 point lead and then let Purdy do his interception thing. We were all on your side Lions. What a great story this could have been.
