Having spent most of my 27 years there in the Magic Kingdom as a maintenance worker and later as a manager I got to know that place intimately being able to go everywhere from the top of the castle to the lowest parts of the tunnel underneath! I even found a "Don't Forget Opening Day" sign back in the woods behind our shops that was there to remind all the workers building the MK to work hard towards opening day! I turned it over to archives! Wonderful memories experiencing Walt Disney's dream to make a good wholesome place for all to enjoy!
You must love the people that blame Disney for everything that goes wrong in the entertainment industry. For such an evil place they sure have been doing pretty well for a pretty long time
@@mrgehbak6713 Are you honestly saying that you don’t see a change? You don’t see any change in the messaging, motives, or even the end result? Really?

The concrete at the Entrance is also that specific color red to make your photos look better. Years ago the wife and I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour, and if you're a Fan, I'd recommend it. It's a lot of fun and kind of expensive but its a 4-5 tour including lunch.
Under the US flag code a flag can be displayed at night if it is fully lit. That may be another reason the flags on top of the buildings are not lowered each day.
I am OBSESSED with the christmas time music loop and hearing it now has me close to tears. I even have it on my spotify. And such a fond memory of a year we did the christmas party within the party at Tony’s. Think it was 2019. Tony went around and I have such a fun video of him singing to our kids. 🥹
Fry Bucket, as a former Magic Kingdom cast member, I really appreciate this!! Although, I worked many, many years ago, driving subs for Captain Nemo. When I was there, I remember that there was a bank branch for cast members behind Town Hall, and we would deposit our paychecks at that branch. It's probably not there anymore, but I remember getting my check, walking through the utilidors (tunnels), and coming up at the Main Street cast bank!! That was probably the main time I would go up to Main Street when I was working!!
I was a Tennis Pro at the Contemporary Resort back in the 80's. We were also considered cast members . We used to get free tickets to all of the parks, along with extra guest passes. Even though we had free entry, we still had to pay for rides, food, and hotels if we needed it. However, we did receive special employee discounts, so we did not have to pay as much as regular park visitors or customers.
Fry Bucket, that was great. Living in the northeast, I have only made 10 trios to WDW, but find myself just walking through Main Street USA to get onto attractions, then returning for shopping in the evening. There is so much to see so please bring us through the rest of Magic Kingdom.
I’m going to Disney for cheerleading competition next week with my cheerleader, youngest daughter, and my middle daughter. My oldest daughter has an 8 month baby girl whom I’ll be taking when she’s old enough to enjoy it. I’m so excited to be able to share these fun facts with my girls ❤. I love being able to find information at the touch of my finger 😊
I’m going for my 50th birthday in 2 weeks! The only other time I was there was in 2000 with my children. I plan on watching the flag lowering. Thank you for this video. I had no idea! ❤
my late older brother used to work as one of the many cooks for the cast members! He once told me that the woman who played Tinkerbell had a surprisingly big appetite! Personally, I love Disney, and hope to revisit Disneyworld or Disneyland one day soon!
I spent a day taking pictures of the windows everywhere in Magic Kingdom, Frontierland has some good ones too. Oh, and one of the mailboxes is from my hometown of Danville, PA.
I am so jealous that so many people are able to go to the Disney parks, some people regularly. As a disabled pensioner in Australia, going to the moon seems easier and cheaper then getting to disney. Which as a die hard disney fan breaks my heart 😢 my dream in life is to be able to go to all the parks at least a couple times and go on the disney cruise.
@@businessacc179yeah most people I know have never been before. My family was fortunate because my grandma lived in Orlando. We lived in Maryland so ever other Christmas vacation we would go to spend it with my grandma. All 7 of us would pile into our 6 passenger sedan (Very dangerous but this was the 90’s- 00’s) and drive the 10 hours. We would stay at her house to save money and we would also get the Florida Resident ticket price for Disney because my grandma would buy them.
What should be mentioned about Main Street is that it represents an idealized version of the turn-of-the-century (1900) Kansas town Walt Disney grew up in. There is a version of Main Street in every Disney "Magic Kingdom-style" theme park - meaning, every visitor begins their day in the park by going through Walt's childhood.
I love "behind the scenes", "secrets", "former cast member" videos! I just found your channel and have subscribed! I will now go to the beginning and catch up! Great video, Fry Bucket. 😊
This was a fun video. Thank you Let me add one more main street USA "secret". About half way down main street heading to the castle look for the real estate office (second floor) on the corner. In the window are all the names of the fake companies Disney used to secretly buy up the land in Orlando that is now Disney World. I can't remember them all off the top of my head but they are names like Retlaw (Walter spelled backwards) and funny names like M. T. Lott Co.
Haven't been to Disneyland in many years, had an annual pass so I'd go all the time. The mailbox... every so often I'd bring a bill or 2 that needed to be mailed and I'd send it from Disney knowing it'd be stamped.
I think you have to get the mail manually marked at guest relations for it to have a Disney mark on it. I learned this the hard way. Just adding a postage stamp and dropping it in one of those boxes does not mean it’ll get marked as ”from Disney”. Our postcards were not Disney-ed up at all. 😢
Very informative video! I’ve been visiting DW since 1972 and knew some of these facts , but not all. I used to work at The Upjohn Comoany and Walt Disney was very good friends with Dr. Upjohn here in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Walt even had a shop on Main Street displaying the Upjohn Company products. This was located just as you enter Main Street on the left side. Also that side street where you met Quincy is a great area to steal away from the crowds for privacy. Thank you for this video👍👍❤️
You do not need to take the American Flag down at night provided you have a light on it during the night time. So they can use real flags and just add a spot light.
Many, many years ago my husband when I went to DW we found Tony's. I was SO hungry that night, I told the lady at the podium out side. She showed us right to a table, the place was packed. We had a great meal, the staff couldn't have been nicer. For some reason I thought this place had been changed to something else.
According to the U.S. Flag Code, they can fly American Flags down Main St at night. All they have to do is be illuminated and of an all-weather material. To me, it's wrong to display a U.S. Flag that's purposely made wrong.
Having worked at the sandy store in Main Street for many years my most asked question -AND THIS IS FOR REAL - What time does the 3 o'clock parade start? No really and my answer was always 3 o'clock and it will reach here at 3:17 sharp and it always does
Despite already knowing the secrets today, I’d like to know what is on the Walt Window on Main Street. I’ve studied a lot of the imagineers and others on the windows, but have never been able to read the others. Thanks, Bob at Disney then and now x
My daughter tried to be Arial at Disneyland. 5 call backs and eventually denied. She was deemed "too tall" lol she's 5 '6". The girl they hired was 5'4" and quit after two months because the costume was "too restrictive" While my daughter was called back and offered the position, she had moved by then for school. They were paying dirt so not worth it.

add Epcot and other build-up projects since the 80s is what makes it Disney World......the rides and attractions are the same, only the entrance is different....no walking up to this entrance.......ferry across the moat or monorail is the only way in
When I was a kid we'd sometimes go to Silver Dollar City near Branson MO, and if you sent mail from there the cancellation mark would actually read Silver Dollar City (I'm not sure whether they still do or not). If you send mail from Main Street, is there a special cancellation mark that's used, or does it just say "Orlando"?
Idk if it is in the exact same spot but on main street in Disneyland there is a door on one of the side doors like the casting one, but it is the only place in all of Disneyland where it says employees only. It was a holdover from when they were constructing it and that was where the employees would enter that were doing the construction.
A great presentation. Fun perspective and factoids. I can no longer call employees cast members as the last time I was there I encountered far too many rude and inconsiderate employees. Disney would have never allowed that but since most major attractions kept breaking down or were shut for repair I can only assume maintenance has deteriorated as well. I will enjoy Disney through good presentations like this.
