Great work, there's not a lot out there really explaining the history of those islands so thanks for making these.
Thank you and you're welcome!
Its great, but a little too much resumed, for example, they are key events in the history of the Azores that is missing, for example, there is a theory that its called "Açores" because comes from the old Italian "blue", because italian navigators saw the islands distance away and called it blue islands. And that the Azores were populated by people from Alentejo Majority Portuguese, but another groups came to the islands, like Jews, French, Flemish and new christians, to the islands. There was even a very small minority of African slaves, the Azorean people are a result of all of that. Or the key role of the Azores on the fight for Portugal liberal wars and resistance against the Philips.
Still, great video.
I was wondering if anyone was going to mention some of the other cultural influences in the Islands other then the Portuguese. Then your comment is first one i seen. Good post.
@@JoaoSilva-xg1vh and Horta city on Faial Island was one of 4 capitals Portugal had in its history with Coimbra, Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro.
Thanks! great share!
Today it is known that some azorean Islands were inhabited before the arrival of Portuguese navigators.
There are relations between those inhabitants and the inhabitants of Malta but very few research have been made. It isn't of Portugal interest to change their story of the descoveries upon wich the national identity was built.
Marrocans also say they exchange Madeira Island for the city of Magador/ Essaouira on the Marrocan shore but there aren't proofs of that exchange.
Proof has been destroyed by the Portuguese just like internet information been deleted by them but I agree with you
Everybody is gangsta until Alberto João Jardim appears!
Amazing video :)
WOAH! I Never expected to see you here! Thank you so much! ^^
o brasil realmente é o fim do mundo
The Azores where not named after Goshawks. Azor is the 9th in lineage of Jesus, Mathews 1:14. There are maps older than the Portuguese Discovery of the Azores. This 9 Islands, nine Azores, and Azor 9th in line from Jesus. The islands naming had to have the Pope’s appointment. The islands had already been discovered by Irish saint Brendan.
Very good
Thanks!
Madeira islands was called Purple islands
💯
How about corvo island
nice
My dad is from Sao George
When i was younger he told me interactions and there was only about 200-400 people there.
São Jorge is a pretty unpopulated island, the population is 8.373 people
audio Is messed up
Fixe, ta giro
saudações da madeira
The Portuguese did not colonize the Azores or Madeira they settled them
That means they colonised it
@@carolzinhaagringa897 to take control of people or area
@@jasperwinehouse9456 that’s literally what colonising is. To take over. To take control. To implement your rule. Absolute power.
Its so close to morocco than portugal
Nice vid but that automatic leveling on your mic is killing my ears.
Content very good I am sure but read much too fast!
Agree. Narrator spoke much too fast and in too strong of an accent to understand.
Tu és Português?
Não sou chinês
Credo, quiçá
@@KnowHistory claro que sou portuguesa
Curiosidade, eu TMB!
Not all of Madeira islands is Portuguese there is an island that has full independence and is part of the emerging African states

@@KnowHistory , 🤣🤣🤣!
@@pedromedeiros1186 Or the Chinese one, with the way China is investing in and buying up the African continent like nobody's business.
Well, the video is very good, but try to improve your pronunciation, sometimes it's hard to focus, if you ask me.
Will do! Thank you for the feedback!
And how, exactly, should she have pronounced her words in order to please your ear and make you less distracted? Must she have pronounce them like an Indian, like a Pakistani; like a Texan, like a Cajun, like a New-Yorker, like someone from the projects; like a Canadian; like an Irishwoman from Cork, from Kerry, from the inner city Dublin, from Belfast, from Donegal; like a Scott from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, the Highlands; like a Welsh; like a Geordie, like an Australian, like a South-African; should she have pronounce them in the Queen's English, or in Cockney?! Please, I will be sitting on the edge of my seat trembling in anticipation of your answer! Good day to you...!
Wow that was an unexpected reply, thank you so much :)
Yes, great, don't let them try and knock you down for things that they hardly understand themselves!
